John Doe's sin was Envy. He envied Mills' normal life. Then Mills became Wrath when he killed John Doe, completing the 7 Deadly Sins in the movie. ** Btw, during the John Doe chase scene where Mills falls, Brad Pitt actually did break his arm, so they wrote it into the story. However, he still had scenes to film from before the chase, so they had to try and hide the cast. The scene where Tracy invites Somerset to dinner, you can see Pitt wearing his watch over the cast to try and hide it.

@@AtownOriginal interesting take. Just because mills’ wife was innocent doesn’t ruin the concept; she’s collateral damage. The final two are the killer (envy) and mills (wrath). He doesn’t have to have conceived of the end in order to begin his plan; he may have had other ideas for envy and wrath-but found both solved at once. It was the scene where he got found out and saw Mills in action, gave him the idea for the finish.

I saw this movie in the theater back in 1995. It was incredible. I remember reading an article in a magazine about the making of this movie back then. Brad Pitt actually injured his hand while filming this movie. They had to write that injury into the movie to explain why his character's hand was hurt. The acting in this movie was so good. A memorable movie. I still recall specific scenes and dialog after all this time. A must see.

Great movie and another great reaction! So much fun watching these movies with you both. 💕 BTW, for the longest time after this movie was released it was a running joke to scream, "What's in the box?!" anytime someone came around with any type of box, even a shoebox. 😆 You guys need to do more scary movies for October! I love watching Asia hide. 🤣

Becoming? It is almost 30 years old by now. It is and has been a modern classic for a long time and is a highpoint of its genre. Many movies after tried to copy finchers dark, moody film noir inspired style but never quite got on that level.

I still remember when I saw this with my Mom in the theater. The sequence with Sloth...when that guy flinched everyone in the theater jumped. One guy actually got up and RAN toward the back of the theater to get away from it. And no one would have noticed, if he hadn't come right back to his friends laughing at himself. Everyone on our side of the theater got a much needed chuckle. Also, I highly recommend a B/W film from the 60s'. A ghost story, one of the best, The Haunting.

Vengeance & Wrath was the last two... Detective Mills fulfilled the Seven Sins that the Killer planned... and when he killed the Wife & Child... that was Crazy. I remember when I first watched it years ago... had me captivated trying to figure it out. However, the ending was Mind-Blowing... Classic Movie... Suspense, Thriller & Mystery... plus it's Disturbing... because it makes you realise some people's psychology is way out there... in terms of the way they might think. No Happy Conclusion in this one... Take it Easy Asia & BJ ☮️ 🇬🇧

I worked at a theater at the time this was released. It was controversial to say the least. Some people hated it, just because of how dark it was. I remember crowds leaving the auditorium not speaking a word, like they had just left a funeral. It's grown to be recognized as a classic.

I loved Brad Pitt so my sister's best friend wanted to treat me & her to the movie. As we were waiting for the 9 pm showing outside, I had a feeling of dread. I did not want to see the movie and wanted to leave, My sister said it would be rude so I had to stay and watch it. This movie creeped me out so bad it stayed with me for 2 weeks. Until now, I had never seen it again. I wanted to see what you both thought. Thank you for sharing. The man who wrote this disturbing movie is a sick man.

47:46 John Doe was playing chess because now how Mills’ chooses to live life is his final act. If Mills kills himself John Doe has won and, if he lives, he’ll forever be reminded of the 7 Deadly Sins. Mills living and forever remembering him proves that Doe was right, which would drive anyone crazy. The most obvious move would then to commit suicide, but that’d just be letting Doe win. The best move for Mills, would’ve been for him to let Doe live, even though it’s completely understandable why he didn’t.

@11:30 He figured out the refrigerator cuz of the small strips of plastic that "fat man" was fed. They were clues. Det. Sommerset found the grooves in the floor that matched the strips of plastic that were scraped up, and thus he knew the fridge had been dragged across the floor, and the killer wanted him to find it - thus why he made the man eat the plastic so that the medical-examiner would find them.

Se7en on in my top 10 all time favorite movies. It's definitely deserves any recognition it gets. It's a movie you have to watch more than once to be able to catch the little connections. I've seen it probably 15 times and every time I watch it again I find some little detail that I never noticed before. The death that I always found very thought provoking was pride. John Doe didn't kill her, he only cut off her nose. Then gave her the option to call for help or OD on the sleeping pills. She was too proud to go thru life being ugly. If that's not a sad situation for a person to be in, I mean she only identifies with being pretty and if she can't be pretty anymore then she rather die. How sad does life have to be that you choose death over being scarred across your face for the rest of your life?

Notice the scene where Somerset first talks about the Deadly Sins as being the motivation behind the killings, he named off the Deadly Sins as he holds up the photos- as he goes through them he turns to Mills and shows him the photos as he finally gets to and says Envy. Very subtle clever foreshadowing. Also Mills completes the deadly sins killings as his wrath overtakes him and causes him to kill John Doe, as planned. That’s why he told Mills he would be remembered.
