The thing that impresses me most about Adrienne Cowan is she can sing just about anything. And it explains why she is extremely in demand as a vocalist. She's the touring vocalist for Avantasia, and the vocalist for Sascha Paeth's Masters of Ceremony, and other groups as well. The rest of the band keeps pace as befits formally trained musicians. They're still a fairly young band and they're still figuring out what they can do and look forward to seeing where they go from here. Great reaction

Oh, Roy... I don't think I'll ever find another vocalist who'll entrance me the way he does. For the last couple of years he's been back w his first project, Conception. Also, he did a song for Arjen Lucassen's latest Star One project, the title is Lost children of the universe, and I bloody love that song (also spoiler alert Steve Vai has a solo on it). There are two versions made, one w Roy and one w Tony Martin, and on the official video they're mixed half and half. Guess my favourite, haha.

On your comment about the necessity of Roy's feature: This album is the 3rd chapter in a concept story that spans across all three albums. In this particular song, the main character, Solveig, is more or less trying to call out to her long dead father and Roy's part is the voice of her father. As a normal feature on a regular song, it definitely could be seen as not necessary, but in the context of the story, I couldn't think of anyone better for this specific part. Especially with how warm Roy's voice just is naturally.

As much as I love this band and this song, you made totally valid points I've overlooked due to my love for their discography

I heard Adrienne once say that this is basically "what's in her head" or something like that.

A huge part of their music is the story that all the albums tell. There is a very important reason that Roy Kahn is featured in this song and is a turning point for the main character. Without that context, you loose something.

As @TinkerAlli mentioned below, whilst the song works as a stand alone track but it is part of the larger story that the album is telling. There are parts of this song that are call backs to other chapters/tracks on the album. This applies to the two previous albums also. It will be interesting to see how many songs you do from this particular album, God's of debauchery, as solo reactions and then see if your opinions may change on them after listening to the project as a completed works, in order.
