Hey Seaville

Hey Seaville

Күн бұрын

A quick update of my #sew4thesoulhannemade project. I'm following along with Anne Brooke as she gives prompts and sets challenges using different sewing techniques.
As a professed non-sewer I'm really enjoying learning new stitches and sewing methods. I haven't been able to put this down since beginning it 10 days ago.
Anne's KZfaq / @annebrooketextileartist
Thanks so much for watching.

What a lovely comment Barbie, thank you xx I hate listening to myself on video so I'm glad you do. For now this piece is wrapped around an old wooden spool and I think that's where it will stay. I've had an urge to do more stitching so I may even add to it.

@heyseaville55
@heyseaville55 3 жыл бұрын
Sherry Cable I would never had thought to put them together either had it not been for the prompts and challenges I followed. It’s amazing how helpful it can be to see other people’s take on things. Right now the piece is wrapped around an old wooden bobbin so I can pull it out and look at it and maybe add some more stitches. Thank you for watching 🙂

I love it! ❤❤❤ So pretty. How do you do your daisies? . I can’t find anything like that anywhere.
@heyseaville55
@heyseaville55 2 ай бұрын
Thank you so much Agnes 😊 You may be referring to pre-made daisies that came from ribbon on a straw hat I had. I cut them up and then added a French knot to the centre of each one to hold them in place. I think you could make something similar using simple straight stitches in a daisy shape. Hope that helps ❤️🪡

So pretty, I love this! What is the fabric on back? I assume you started with a long strip of it and just add other fabric pieces on top as you go? Do you machine stitch the base fabrics or is it all hand stitched?
@heyseaville55
@heyseaville55 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Diane! 🙂 The base fabric is felt that I cut into strips about 25 cm long. Then hand stitched the larger pieces of fabric to the base and added the other pieces as I went. I only worked on a small section at a time and joined more strips of felt when had run out of space to work in. No machine stitching 🧵

Is it hard to embroider through the cotton wadding (batting)? I see most people stitch the patched cotton pieces first and then quilt onto the batting but I want to do it your way.
@heyseaville55
@heyseaville55 3 жыл бұрын
No not at all. I found it quite easy to stitch through fabric straight onto the batting. In some cases it gives lighter fabric more body to work with (if that makes sense). Give it a go and see if you like it.
