Please note these are just rough estimates and not my exact pricing plus this is strictly for paying equipment off not accounting for insurance or other expenses.

I’ve been a plumber since 97, I got really turned off the trade after getting ripped off from 3 different companies so in 20 I started an atv shop, now I’m going back. All my experience was west coast and now live in Arkansas. I cannot gather enough hard proof of experience to qualify for the masters exam so going this route. I’ve always used Gorlitz, love their products. However that’s not what I have. I have my rigid 1/4” machine, don’t laugh, my old harbor freight mid size, seriously this thing has been an awesome machine after I modified it, I’d put it up against any mid size now, and right now am trying to get my hands on a used Marco mainline. I have the tightest budget imaginable. I’ll buy a new rigid auger, I like the general auger better but the head on that one is far easier to break a toilet. So that covers my basics my question to you is, in an area of nothing but small towns how would you suggest to effectively advertise? Oh and I do eventually plan to add jetting and we have a class of license I do qualify for that allows sewer main repair and replacement which I’m working on.

No laughter at all, harbor freight does have good stuff, with modifications I am sure that mid size machine is a beast and can probably get through a lot of stuff with it. Sounds like you have a good set up going, you can also make a modest jetter out of a pressure washer too. From an advertising standpoint, I really like the sound of small towns I feel that could be an area where small businesses can get a lot of support. So I actually have a video on this topic: 1. I encourage Next Door neighborhood apps. Introduce yourself tell your neighbors what you do and offer your services. Search posts for drain clogs or plumbing issues and Comment your information and help out. This is like 60-65% of my work. Fortunately I have a very loyal and really great customer base that have written many kind posts about how truly happy they were with my services which truly goes a long way, also in the same way I make posts about the jobs I do and shower pictures of all my work. I also have an instagram and tic tic page showing videos and tid bits of work. Nowadays everyone loves the technology so I try to keep things up to date . 2. I recommend joining Facebook Community groups for your towns and local areas, people are always asking for recommendations of services of all sorts. 3. Network with general contractors, plumbing companies that don’t do drain cleaning, and recommend other local contractors for work that you don’t do. 4. Make business cards, offer services to local stores and shops, maybe they will let you leave cards on counters at their shops, hang at plumbing supply stores and network with other plumbers (competitors can be great too so make friends) These methods are just some things that really worked for me

@@anthonyfiorenzo569 thank you for the advice, I’d been thinking about the pressure washer thing, there is a company that sells a conversion kit with hose, fittings and such, figured that would be better than no Jetter. I’m going to get a few t shirts made as well and magnets for my truck, not willing to put stickers on my tundra but when I get a company truck I’ll logo it up.

Good morning, how is your Boss Jetter holding up? Last year I purchased a brand new Boss Jetter rom amazing Machinery and have had nothing but issues with it. Most of the time it won't even start. Interested in your experience. TY

I bought the vevor machine with a 1/2 100 ft cable and I often don’t clear a lot of drains I go out to. gorlitz is a really good brand I can count on one hand how many drain calls I went to and didn’t clear with the gorlitz. But how do you market your drain calls ? Plumbers hate drains and I love them I know there is a ton of money out there in drain cleaning

I remember using those open cage drain machine's as a rookie in the game , got shit all over the finished walls lol .. the clean up took longer than snaking the drain, the boss said I should put plastic on the finished walls , I said to go F yourself and buy some closed drum machines

Great vid mate.Im just wondering how would you go about trying to charge $1000 for a drain clean.If you can get it great but where I’m from I’ve got a feeling I would get tar and feathered 😂 How would you go about selling that to the customer? 👍🏼

So I just show that my services are worth what I charge. It is very tough to compete with companies in my area that use drain cleaning as a loss leader to get the camera in the sewer. So I camera every single sewer I snake included in the price along with locating issues. As far as paying equipment it’s not like you try to pay it back in one job. But these potential add ons always change from job to job if I’m snaking a sewer that’s a 100+ft with only a clean out in a basement that’s one where you can sell a jet since you have better reach with a hose than a cable. Or adding a clean out in the yard will be a convenience because then a service guy will be able to work from outside rather than going inside.

What do you think of sectional Machine

Would you recommend 3/4 or 5/8 cable for an "all purpose" machine for 3-6" lines? Inner core or hollow core?
@anthonyfiorenzo569
@anthonyfiorenzo569 3 ай бұрын
I personally say 5/8 inner core. The gorlitz I had is 11/16 cable. I actually transitioned to sectional machines and am loving it. 5/8s may not be as effective in 6 in but you will navigate more freely through 3 and 4 in which I think you will come across more than 6 in. That’s my experience at least.

On average, How many sewer lines do you unclog a week?
@anthonyfiorenzo569
@anthonyfiorenzo569 Жыл бұрын
It’s hard to really put a definitive answer on that for two reasons: I don’t put all time towards the business as I do work a full time plumbing job so my time to do work is limited to evenings and weekends. Also I don’t advertise whatsoever every now and then I put a post on Nextdoor apps, on weekends I’m usually running about two or three calls on the weekends sometimes 1-2 more during the week.

I made $21,500 with my 1st 18 jobs and it took approximately 28.5 hours… Then I tried to optimize my online presence and fuckt it all up now the call are very infrequent. I wonder if it was because the time of year the calls were abundant and I’m just thinking it had to do with the online stuff. I’m new to this so have no clue.
