Great idea for lining things up. Never thought about pinning and then just unpinning the one side. Your helpers are so cute. I use a piece of kids craft foam to cover my hoop to keep the glue off of it

Just FYI if anyone has a harbor freight near them they carry those bowls! My husband has several and I just asked if I can have one! I never thought of them for the pins but that’s an awesome idea! He won’t miss 1!!! 🤣

I didn't think about Harbor Freight! That's a great idea. The closest one to me is about 35 minutes away :( I'm sure Walmart and Home Depot have some too!

Hi Kayla. Well, I got thru my first minky blanket. The hardest part for me was the measuring and cutting the fabric.now I have a 22” x 55” table, so it was a challenge. My final size ended up smaller than I wanted. I’m about to sew my top stitch. Would it work for me to top stitch about an inch or more instead of an edge stitch? And the walking foot worked like a champ. Pins pins pins are a MUST! So thank you for your great instructions!

Hi Jean! Congrats on finishing your first blanket! I often go to my dining room table if I'm doing a larger blanket because my craft table is narrow also. For the top stitch, the reason I do about 1/4 inch off the edge is to close the opening. If you wanted to go in an inch, I would suggest doing a hidden stitch to close the opening, and then you can go in as far as you'd like for the top stitch. I hope that makes sense!

Hi Kayla.....Thank you for showing us all those cute blankie's.....Just found you and been watching baby blankie videos....I know you said you have the Embrilliance software....I am looking and your font seem to be over an inch....I heard that the software only let's you font about an inch or so....Also, maybe one day when you have a minute for us gals starting out....I have a simple babylock....you could show us a quick video of Embrilliance software and how it lines up so nicely on a baby blanket...as you may remember I told you in other videos that I just have the basic fonts which work great, but you are limited.....Thank you Kayla.....Congrats on your new machine.....( I wonder if you will still use your lil bro machine?

I've used larger than 1" fonts in Embrilliance many times. It depends on what you have your hoop size as :) I will try and do a video on Embrilliance! I'm very basic with it and definitely don't use all the many features it has. lol. But I'll try!

Love this so much it makes me what to make some blankets lol. What type of foot is that on your sewing machine? I keep getting bird nesting in mine. Any tips?

It's a walking foot! I got it on Amazon. I should have a link to the one I purchased in the description. Just make sure you read the listing of whichever one you're looking at to make sure it's compatible with your machine. Bird nesting could be a few things. Is your tension off? Is your bobbin inserted correctly? Is it wound correctly? Is it threaded correctly? Try looking at those things and if it's still doing it then I'm sure someone on KZfaq has a video about it somewhere. :)

I’m curious. Because the minky in your example isn’t quilted, will it lose its shape after washing?

Good question Jean! I've never had my minky blankets lose their shape ❤️ I wash on delicate and hang to dry and that's what I recommend to my customers also. Quilting it couldn't hurt though! Whatever you feel comfortable with 🙂

I use .pes fonts since I have a brother pe800. My fav fonts are Chicken Broth, Farmhouse Lemonade, and Sarah. 🙂

Such cute blankets! Is the blue tape used to help the hoop not scratch the fabric?

Thank you! No that's just to keep my hoop clean from the basting spray that sticks the minky to it. I just recently cleaned my hoop and it was such a gunky mess!

Hi Nya! I started by making for friends and family. I took good quality pictures and used those. If you watch my "Making new blankets for my Etsy shop" video from a few months ago you can see how I made samples :)
