I wanted a small and portable fabric bag that held two pens, for an easy way to carry around fountain pens without being scratched up. The cat fabric and denim are a charming pairing as is the brushed metal snap.
Sewed these with my vintage Singer 237, one of the last all-metal gears machines made by Singer and likely dating from the late 1960s.

Very nice pen case! I need to make something like that. I'm a vintage Singer fan. My mom has that exact machine. She bought it new, way back when.

It's a wonderful weekend project! I heard the Singer 237 was a popular gift with college-bound women back when people still sewed their own clothing - it was the last model using all metal parts. It's no wonder they last to this day!

Thanks for your patience Debora! I measured by using my pens as a guide and came out with: 36cm x 10cm: (1) outer fabric, (1) firm interfacing or midweight stabilizer, (1) lining fabric 13cm x 11cm: (1) lining fabric (for pocket) Hope this helps and happy sewing!
