Living in Europe and breastfeeding publicly myself, just as everyone else is, thinking about needing clothes to cover is such a strange concept! I never heard of a nursing cover. It's just sad you would need to cover up the most natural thing there is.

It's really weird to cover the baby entirely while breastfeeding... I'm from France and even though there can be the occasional weird look and mean comment directed towards women breastfeeding, it seems really extreme to cover yourself and your baby entirely. She's feeding, it's completely normal to see her at your breast! You wouldn't want to eat under a cover.

Reading all the comments I am happy to live in a part of the world maternity leave, breastfeeding, and cheap clothing for this are there, open and free. In ten years of breastfeeding, only one man acted weird. It was an American visiting here. Go make yourself comfortable, Wendy, you are doing your daughter good.

This is so weird!!! I'm not around mothers all that much and especially not around mothers who are strangers to me, but all the ones I have been around just fed their baby when it was hungry and they didn't need any huge setup that covered the baby and their breast, they just did it then and there. I mean, obviously they would wear a nursing bra, but they would just pull their shirt up (or down if it had a low enogh neckline) and they were set. This is kind of a culture shock to me right now and not in a good way because I tend to be very private when it comes to my body but once I have a baby, I don't want to feel ashamed for nursing it!!!!! (I'm from Germany by the way)

Breastfeeding momma here! :) One hack i’ve learned is to put a hair tie on the wrist of the side where you last breastfed the baby so you can easily remember :) also, aside from buttoned shirts, wrap tops and smocked tops are great clothing options for breastfeeding moms!

With my first I was so worried about offending people with breastfeeding and was so emotional when I got remarks about it being disgusting etc. I tried to hide under ponchos, but my daughter hated them so I usually ended up hiding in the bathroom when I wasn't home, or in my bedroom when we had visitors.

Absolutely the best tool in my diaper bag when I was nursing was a lightweight blanket, about a yard of really thin cotton, and it was a nursing cover (just knot a corner and tuck it under a bra strap, good to go) or for a car seat sun shade, car window cover (roll up the window with the blanket pinched in the window, it's a curtain) or a swaddle for baby naps on the go. Because it was thin, it rolled up so small and I always had that thing with me.

I'm a new mom too, and all of the sewing youtubers I follow besides you don't have kids yet. It's so refreshing to see someone else taking care of a baby and fitting in tiny windows of working on projects as they can!

I appreciate this video so much. In moving into thinking about having children a lot of the hassle around the privacy and care made me feel like I’d just rather stay home all the time and basically quarantine from the world. This def helped normalize the next steps in creating my family. And I’m pretty crafty so having my normal bra/ clothing in that step is awesome! 10 outta ten recommend this for crafty moms or gifts to moms.
