@@Hesric I've just recently been getting into the books, many of them are well written and enjoyable. I know why the Imperium loses, it's just that with that volume of fire and accuracy from a weapon that shoots a red bull rocket propelled projectile, pretty much would turn most ground adversaries into mincemeat. Absolutely ridiculous, but I love it

Lore Heavy bolters are high rate of fire guns. They use an electrical ignition source and very well may use a revolver cannon mechanism.

Don’t mean to be a nose bleed but not even heavy bolters fire soda sized rounds. Bolters fire thumb size rounds, heavy bolter fire pointer finger sized rounds

Yup, heavy bolter should sound similar to a 20mm autocannon, not like a LMG. This is one of the things that separates SODAZ from the other talented SFM animators out there. Coordination of forces, actual combined arms tactics, a fair bit of accuracy/realism to the source material, and actual weight to both the animation and sound design.

Sometimes i forget how big the space marines actually are. That their weapons have to be massively upscaled so it fits in their hands.

that's a heavy bolter, Space marines still carry them like they're a cumbersome weapon at the hip and use a brace iirc. A normal bolter is possible to be wielded by a non-augmented human though its heavy and has enormous recoil and would be held like you would hold a 20 pound LMG.

no, normal humans carry bolter pistols to carry a bolter you would need some augmentations so that your flesh isnt destroyed from the recoil and you can actually aim it@@michigancube4240

To add, there are more appropriate bolters that regular humans can more easily manage, such as the Adeptus Arbites Bolter, but definitely a rarity compared to the average autogun/lasgun you'll find. Even a Space Marine bolt-pistol is probably way too unwieldy to be effectively used by unaugmented humans. @@michigancube4240

Heavy Bolters fire .998 caliber mass-reactive bolt rounds, so it's essentially a grenade launcher.

Animation is very well done and looks great, only note for the future would be working on the sound design. Personally think a bolter should have a meatier heavy sound when being fired. But overall great work and hope to see more in the future.

On KZfaq there were some videos about the Vickers 1pdr autogun, the "Pom-Pom," and the Heavy Bolter 's sound should be similar.

so, character movement is well made, i love the enviroment, small and blunt but fits the asthetic, just 2 things i'm willing to point out, the racking and the shooting, the shooting i don't blame you since i'm sure the genuine firing of a bolter is harder than it looks, but the racking feels like he is opening and closing a window rather than pulling back and the springs push hard the bolter's window

I love the idea that a Heavy Bolter is such a beast of a weapon, just loading the first round requires a second person to pull back on a priming handle on a breach the size of a shoebox.

A nice little detail is how nonchalant they are about incoming artillery. While soldiers of other regiments would duck and take cover, the Kriegsmen understand that a shell can land anywhere. If it kills you it kills you, if it doesn't, then get back to work, Guardsman.

Eh. It's all right. You're missing the heavy bolter firing at a longer range, the shell casings being ejected, and you should've used the heavy bolter sound from Dawn of War 2, but sped up. That and the Death Korps weapon crew should barely be visible above the sandbags, trying to hug trench cover as close as possible. In any case, the sets look great, the lugging sound of the receiver on the heavy bolter, and the fact that you took a stalker from Killing Floor to be the standard bearer were golden moments.

I also think we could benefit from better targets. Heavy bolters can take down Marines, and it's a little lame to always see the Guard face the Lost and the Damned. It's all about punching up

Fantastic video, a few points: • The weapon fires _way_ too fast, and has _way_ too little recoil - bolters are incredibly powerful. • Following this, a bolter in that context would rather be used as a howitzer than a machine gun. • I do not know how “lore-compatible” this is, because to my knowledge, only a very distinct group is even allowed to use a bolter. Extremely promising video!

I understanding that aiming is a bit of a formality with a heavy bolter and at this close range. What I do not understand is the rear ladder sight on this unit and why it was set for 10 imperial miles and what front post is used in conjunction with the rear sight.

A Bolter is basically a rocket propelled armor piercing delayed explosive grenade? But it fires with the speed and velocity of bullets I think, and definitely is a war crime in old human times when Terra was still Earth, and was still a blue marble. And such an overpowered weapon. If you’re not wearing power armor, you’re just a meat filled balloon and you get hit by this weapon you’re gonna get popped. And yet there are things and more in the 40,000 Warhammer universe that just shrugs these rounds off.
