Shady contradicted his own point. He brings up how Andy didn’t have the right QB until he got Mahomes but then downplays Gibbs for winning with 4 different QBs who aren’t on the level of Mahomes. So wouldn’t Gibbs look better and have a higher degree of difficulty for winning with “no names” than Andy needing a top 3 QB ever to win?!?!?

This is the most frustrating episode of Speak I’ve ever watched. Being a little bit older than the cast, I did have the opportunity to watch one of the greatest, Bill Walsh. Bill is the coach that made the West Coast Offense work (still being used to this day). Who did he coach? How about players like Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, Ronnie Lott, Charles Haley, traded for Steve Young. His coaching tree includes Mike Holmgren (won a superbowl), George Seifert (won 2 superbowls with basically a team Walsh built for), and Mike Shanahan (won 2 superbowls). Shady needs to research history if he’s going to talk about subjects like this.

This whole show is frustrating because they're so obsessed with rings when that's only one aspect of a player's or coach's career. Also Andy Reid's tree, for what it's worth, already includes 3 Super Bowl-winning coaches (Bowles, Pederson, Harbaugh).

You are right but the question Shady asked wasn't wrong though. He kept asking Joy and James okay who are the notable players he coached. If you asked them about Belichek they can easily name the players (mind you he's more current so it'll be easier). But with the older guys they couldn't name anyone. If you can't name them one of two things happened, either you aren't aware like acho mentioned or they weren't notable. In this case it was the earlier.

not really...you draft a QB that low, you don't have significant plans for him...he's your 4th or 3rd string QB basically, which Brady was originally. @@wade2xx552 Tom Landry was THE Coach who made the Dallas Cowboys America's Team! He developed a program that began in 1960 as an expansion team. The team was the worst team in football for a few years as they failed to win a game in their inaugural season. Success in the pro football world and the "glory years" didn't come easily. Playing in the storied Cotton Bowl, the 1960 Cowboys had to settle for one tie in 12 games and Dallas didn't break even until its sixth season in 1965. But in 1966, the Cowboys began an NFL-record streak of 20 consecutive winning seasons. That streak included 18 years in the playoffs, 13 divisional championships, five trips to the Super Bowl and victories in Super Bowls VI and XII. Now, you can't do ALL of that without having the ability to developed players and into a system of winning. Landry developed Rodger Staubach to be successful at the NFL level. Staubach was in the NAVY at had to serve his time before he could play in the league. You think he just came out of the Navy and on his OWN became a SUPERSTAR QB? Tom Landry had a hand in Staubach's rise in the NFL. Drew Pearson was an undrafted free agent from the University of Tulsa who would have struggled to make it in the League on any team. He was small and SLOW for a Wide Receiver and Tom Landry could have CUT him. Instead HE developed Drew to become a Hall Of Fame Level Receiver. Thomas "Hollywood" Henderson played college football at NAIA, HBCU Langston University. Who in the WORLD would have drafted a kid from a program that many High School teams could beat? Henderson became an ELITE Linebacker for the Cowboys!! Tom Landry had a hand in his development!! And, let's not forget BOB HAYES!! Hayes was a TRACK STAR who Tom Landry DEVELOPED into a Superstar Wide Receiver. Hayes couldn't run routes like a PRO because Track was his focus. He was a great athlete not a Wide Receiver when he came in the League. I could go on ALL DAY about the impact these "OLD" Coaches had on the development of their organizations and players!! RESPECT!!

Joe Gibbs is an overlooked coach. His total number of wins aren’t astronomical, like some, but he did win 3 Super Bowl Championships with THREE DIFFERENT QUARTERBACKS. Every other coach presents the “is it the coach or the qb” conundrum. Is it Reid or Mahomes? Is it Belichick or Brady? Of course, the answer to this quandaries is “it’s both.” With Gibbs, he showed he can not just “win” with multiple QBs (like Reid), but win the SB with multiple QBs (unlike Reid).

and while Gibbs' rosters were generally solid all the way through, he typically had very few players you could call superstars. None of the quarterbacks who he won Super Bowls with was a Hall of Famer. Darrell Green was by far the best player he coached in Washington. He had 2 other Hall of Famers in Art Monk and Russ Grimm. Aside from that you're mostly looking at guys like Rich Milot and Don Warren and Monte Coleman and Darryl Grant. Don't get me wrong, I love each of those guys. They all contributed mightily to the success Washington had, but not a single one of them ever went to the Pro Bowl. Sounds like these guys had great coaching.

Shady is stupid. Belichick drafted Richard Seymour, Asante Samuel, Wilfork, Mankins, Gostkowski, Mariweather, Mayo, Edelman, Gronk... all of these guys are multi-time pro-bowlers and/or 1st team all-pros. He talks as if Belichick didn't have 10+ top 10 defenses throughout his career. For players it's about rings, stats, MVPs, DPoTY, OPToY, Rushing titles, ect... ect... but for coaches it's about rings and total wins. No one but Shady talks about who any coach has developed when no on else talks about that for any other coach. Joy talked about all these coaches and why they're great but not once did she mention they developed any HoF players because it doesn't matter. What matters for a coach is winning and Super Bowls.

how does that make the point invalid? so just because you won a SB with a team that means you can keep winning elsewhere? Nick Foles won with the Eagles, how'd the rest of his career go? Russel Wilson won with the Seahawks, how's his next chapter going? Joe Flacco won with the Ravens, how's his next chapters going? Brad Johnson won with the Bucs, how'd his journey go after? How does Bill "teach Tom how to win for 20 years" and Tom moves on / wins the SB again and it's "well Bill taught him"........but Bill himself moves on and it's back to 4-13 seasons? where's that logic with Bill himself then?

Bellicheck had 1 winning season before he got brady. When he took over the patriots the had a hall of fame qb (Bledsoe), two star wideouts (Brown and Glenn), and a solid oline. He also had a superbowl Caliber defense featuring four pro bowlers (McGinest, Mitchell, Law, and Milloy). And he still went 5 -11 in his first season. He has a .443 winning percentage without brady. The two of them together are the reasons why they had success. Brady and Bill don't win 6 rings with each other. First 3 rings were carried by bills defenses and brady not making mistakes. The last 3 was bradys high flying offenses with gronk, Edelman, Gordon and Michel. When brady won his ring without Bill it because he went to a stacked offense and a 2nd ranked defense. You can't talk brady/bellicheck without also talking about spygate, deflategate, pedsgate, ir tampering, player tampering, tuck rule, and many more seasons of cheating.
