@ninocrown3247 Who would you put ahead of him in the GOAT conversation? Sure, Shula and Halas have wins but not as many championships, Walsh has championships but not as many wins. It's not an attack when the person who is making the claim is questioning the validity of his accomplishments when his own accomplishments come on the backs of others. If McCoy never "won" those rings with Brady and Reid, he wouldn't make such a preposterous claim that Reid is a better coach than him and the GOAT.

James Jones is right Andy Reid had TO, Donovan McNabb, Westbrook, Brian Dawkins and more and still didnt win a championship until Patrick Mahomes. I mean they went head to head in Superbowl 39, and he lost. Not saying he hasnt been the best recently. But for Shady to say they didnt fear the Patriots defense but basically never beat them when he played for the Bills. It just makes Shady sound like a hater. Brady was able to win with a lot of "bum" rosters on offense though. Brady covered up for a lot, which allowed Bill to put together some good defenses. And even then, Bill never really crafted some all-time, ALL-TIME defenses.

Brady goes to Tampa, and Bruce Arians gets his first ring ever as a HC. Shady had some great points but didn’t think quick. I do think Belichick is a great DC, but I also think he’s very overrated as a HC. Tom Brady was way more important to the Pats dynasty.

Shady can sweat as much as he wants, but the two coaches are ultimately in the same boat as far as history goes, only Andy has fewer championships than Bill.

Joy has the best take. It is a team sport. Obviously Tom Brady was phenomenal. But, as we are seeing with Mahomes this year, you can be the greatest player in the world, but if you don't have good players around you, you cannot do it all by yourself. Tom and Bill were great together. Yes Tom won a Superbowl with the Bucs, but he also had a lot of good players around him. If he didn't do you think he would have won that Superbowl. Probably not because he didn't win the next year.

AS A HEAD COACH, he has won NOTHING. He rode the coattails of Parcells, COUGHLIN WHO BEAT HIM TWICE IN SUPER BOWLS HEAD TO HEAD WHILE OUTCOACHING HIM (and was a PARCELL'S acolyte who was on those SB-winning Giants teams), and LAWRENCE TAYLOR while he was defensive coordinator of the G-men (and Parcells actually had a higher DVOA as a coordinator of the Giants BEFORE Parcells succeeded him as their defensive coordinator. Belichick is 84 - 103 without Brady. ZERO DIVISION TITLES in 11 SEASONS without Brady. ZERO. Belichick's offense average 17ppg in 11 seasons without the GOAT. Belichick has 8 LOSING SEASONS in his career without Brady. ZERO with Brady. His supposedly "amazing" defenses ranked 13th in Defensive DVOA in the Brady Era. Good but not exceptional. The "amazing" defenses gave up 30 points to Jake Delhomme in the Super Bowl and allowed ELI to march down on HIS defenses TWICE with 3 mins or less to go to steal to winnable Super Bowls. His teams WITHOUT Brady, rank 20th in penalties WITHOUT Brady. So WITHOUT Brady, "his teams beat themselves" OFTEN. Data don't lie. Top 5 Defenses? Well Rex Ryan has more Top 5 Defenses than Belichick and more top 10 defenses by DVOA (by percentage of seasons coached to make it comparable). Horrible. Belichick is the most overrated coach in football history. Perhaps in sporting history. Without Brady, he would've won NOTHING.

It also proved that Carr is better than him (since he had that offense at 12th in pts/yds with the same roster/system vs 29th/30th). It also proved just how much he was holding down the 9ers as they've dominated teams with a quartet of 1000+ all-purpose yard skill players and that Kyle was propping him up, but Hoyer, Beathard, Mullens, and Lance were so bad they made Jimmy look better than he is.

Come on Shady. You were never scared of their defense but, you also kept losing to them. He contradicted his own point in the same breath. Second, Bill had 2 SB defenses with the G-Men. Brady took full advantage of the situation he got drafted into. He literally had a coach, from day one, that had the answer to every defensive scheme and weakness question he ever wanted to know. They both deserve a huge amount of credit for their run. You hang around long enough and the game will eventually pass you by and you just don't have it anymore. It happened to all the greats. Parcells, Walsh, Gibbs, Shula I watched them all fade away since I've been watching the NFL. Now it's Pete and Bill's turn. Brady didn't look that great his last season either and they kicked Bruce Arians to the curb. It's just time for a changing of the guard. Give Bill credit for a great career and let's see if these new group of coaches can put a career together like the guys I named. This is a bad look Shady.

Your last statement was completely false. Those defenses also cost us a lot of chips. See Giants, Eagles, Panthers, Falcons (first 3 quarters), etc. Those defenses were getting torched. Even Seahawks game. Brady had them up by 4 I think it was, and Bill's vaunted defense couldn't stop nothing. It was lucky that Butler had that catch, but that's his play, not Bill's defense that caused the interception. In fact, Bill benched that same Butler against the Eagles when old man Nick Foles was torching his defense. So Stop LYING

People forget when Brady got injured in 2008 in the first game of the season. Their backup quarterback was Matt Castle. Bill Bellichick went 11-5 with Matt Castle. They didn’t make the playoffs that year but they still went 11-5 in 2008. So with that being said. I think Bill Belichick had something to do with those championships.

Zero TDs from Brady and only one pass over 20 yards. Bill was no huddling and letting the play clock down to 15 seconds so Goff couldn't get play info from McVay. Bill also disguised coverages, they would come out in zone and switch to man. Or blitz heavy look then drop back to zone. Goff struggled reading the defense all game. People will ignore that and act like Bill was just there for the ride.

Something I never hear anyone acknowledge when talking about Andy Reid's tenure in Philly is that he was the beneficiary of being in a godawful division. Every other team in that division was horrible. That being said if you beat every team in division that's 6 wins. 4 more and you have a 10 win season. The Eagles frequently had 10, 11 and 12 win seasons at least until the end. The fact that as James said that Reid only went to one Super Bowl speaks to the idea that maybe Philly wasn't really that good.

It’s between Bill Belichik and Bill Walsh. Belichik has more Super Bowl wins, both drafted great, but Walsh invented the West Coast offense and was able to find a successor to Joe Montana, Steve Young. Something Belichik couldn’t do replacing Tom Brady. Belichik was a defensive coach, Walsh an offensive coach. It’s debatable.

McNabb was the 2nd overall pick, Vick was the 1st overall pick, Alex Smith was the 1st overall pick & Mahomes was the 7th overall pick. Andy Reid has never gone through a season without a first round QB on his roster. I think Reid’s a great coach but he wasn’t exactly stacking championships without Mahomes. He spent the first 20 seasons of his head coaching career without winning a superbowl. I have to look but I can’t remember any superbowl winning coach going that long before winning their first ring.

James Jones and Acho were spot on. Brady never keeps the starting QB position without Bill. If you were a NE fan, you were expecting Bledsoe gets his job back when healthy. That was a very controversial coaching move. He gave new life and discipline to players like Corey Dillon and Randy Moss who were previously considered immature and distractions. He let Wes Welker go to Denver and little did we know, Julien Edelman was even better. He announced his players as a "team" in the superbowl against the greatest show on turf Rams, which became a rallying call for the underdog at the time. He let Brady take that last drive in the game rather than taking a knee, like John Madden encouraged in the booth. He brought in guys off the street like Malcolm Butler and gave them opportunities. He lost tons of coaches after many successful seasons...not to mention drafting last and trying to manage the salary cap following all those superbowl runs. Finally, and most importantly....watch the playoff games between the Patriots and the Colts. Peyton Manning would have at least 2 - 3 more rings if it wasn't for Belichick and his defenses. That Colts team was unstoppable. It's easy to dog on the guy because he shuns the media and probably caused a lot of pain to many former players and coaches, but there's no question he's the goat.

My push back to that is… Belichick was 5-11 then 0-2 with Bledsoe. Bledsoe gets hurt and Brady goes 5-2 in that stretch including beating Peyton Manning 2x. Brady’s first start ever beating Manning 44-13 then again in week 6 38-17. Brady’s 11-6 vs Manning. Manning was 2-0 vs Belichick just the year before in 2000 without Brady. Props to Belichick for keeping Brady… but is he the only one that would keep Brady? Brady went 5-2 while Bledsoe was hurt with dominant wins vs Bledsoe who went 5-13 in ugly games. It took Brady 7 games to win 5 games and took Bledsoe 18 games to win 5 games. Not only that, a lot of players including Randy Moss said they came to NE to play with Brady. When Brady went to Tampa, Gronk, AB, Fournette, etc. went to Tampa. No one went to NE to play with Belichick. You’re also giving Manning/Colts too much credit in the playoffs. Peyton has more turnovers than TDs in his 2 Super Bowl wins. It’s far worse when you include his SB losses. Peyton’s one of the greatest chokers in American sports history.

I do think it was more Brady than Bill, but even Brady gives Bill his flowers and calls him the greatest. That's enough for me to know that the DUO was legendary for a reason.

y’all saying Shady didn’t do anything for his rings is dead wrong. Pretty sure he had 10.2 Yeah Baby’s, 7.9 Let’s Goooo’s, and I think rushed for 219 walking steps to the bench per Superbowl.

Andy Reid is better at making player personnel decisions and drafting better talent. Belichick has gotten so much out of his players. Reid's one Hall of Fame receiver he's had, so far is Terrell Owens and he was a free agent/trade signing. Tyreek will go into the hall when he's done. The Patriots went to the playoffs the first year after Brady left. Mac Jones was doing well. Also, he had a ton of players who abstained from playing because of COVID. Belichick's downfall was poor drafting and player personnel decisions.

2020 was rough year, they made the playoff in 2021 but by that point all of the great players on the team were either old or all but retired. Granted he's had misses in the last couple of drafts but as much as we scoff at the Cole Strange 1st round pick in 2022 we have to applaud the Mike Onwenu 6th round pick from 2020.
