@@VallonesRCHobby quick question...i want to do a light show on one sg1603 (got another on way for speed run lol) but i am stuck with the front lights ( i want to keep them ) but there like a 3pin mini micro jst 0.5mm wide and am stuck as it uses channel 4 (i have a dumborc x6 aswell) but aint sure to snip the jst off and replace with another plug if possible lol

i did this conversion today... 3 things to point out to others... remove the grub screw all the way like shown here and dab of blue...reason is the grub on my allen head is soft and when you tighten it,it will pop on the wrench so with blue just snug it and it will not have to be very tight...i also through in grease in pin/spur area while it was appart... lastly i ended up using e 6000 cement under servo then tightened down after i had arm and servo perfectly set... i used a smaller metal gear servo i had and i also needed a short cut piece of popsicle stick between bracket and servo... even the stock servo kept shifting on mine...i also had a lot of slop inside the plastic cheap servo... having good servo on a car is a must if you enjoy precise control...

@@VallonesRCHobby i have a little gyro ordered for this...imo its no where value wise as a 144001..but i like seeing its limits...I also think the metal servo installed is a bit week so i will find a stronger one.. thanks

UPDATE! i took stock shocks off of wl a959 and installed them on rear and filled them up with 80-90 gear oil.front shocks would have lifted it to much..i also added super tiny orings between the bearing and pin on each wheel ..this removed all the in and out play on front wheels and most in the back wheels which helps it track better...just tested it and it handles as good as i could have expected.way better then my stock setup...which was mainly bad to a crappy servo which in retrospect ..i should have gotten it replaced.. i think when i get this $11 gyro i ordered this car will handle great...I do believe if its lowered and had nice oil filled shocks this car could handle very well...the good thing is now i like this car...

i just want to add for newbies... setting up this car to perform the way you like on 2s makes more sense than 3s... with a 2s the same size and weight as a 3s you will get more run time..since a 1200mah 2s is same size weigh as same brand 800 mah 3s roughly...

Yeah your boy was using a 3s 5000 mah serious overkill for that drifter he will get it right I told to cutout some of the other channels on here on the 1603 1604 for brushless ideas

I wonder if you could take this esc/rx out and install it into a wltoys a959? is the servo plug also a 5 wire one on this car?... the reason i ask is because this would give my 1/18 scale wltoys much better handling on track for cheap...than i could take this SG car and install a brushless setup... its a thought i just don't have the car in front of me so i am not sure it is doable... thanks

I think you totally could, it is a 5 wire servo.

No you would have to put a new connector on the wire to use in your new receiver.

Nice build, To let you know i order the 124019 from your link remotoy on the 8th and it was deliver on my from door on the 22nd from china not bad. So far i think i am not going brushless on this one i just change the servo, receiver and esc and is doing around 38mph so i am happy with that, Did the diff and shocks and is running great, Thanks for the link, Saludos.

Yes the setup is good instead of changing all the assembly out you just change the motor esc and receiver and it doesn’t complicate things plus if you check AliExpress now they have the parts for sale each differential is like 8.50 I’ll just grab 6-8 of them and when the mod 1 gears strip just pop a new diff in I found a 2845 can with the 2.3 pinion a little more kick than the 2440 your video was very informative thanks for the feedback can’t wait to see the test run

Not of that bat, no. But I'm sure if you got creative and spliced up some wires you can probably make something.

Do you know of other gearing pitch to replace the spur and will fit in this truck? Trying to find a more common pitch so I can adjust gearing. Having no luck so far.

I cant wait for some one to make metal pinion /spur mod 1 gears and metal diff upgrades as the standard are 0.7 mod and i really dont think they'll last 😀

No problem! Yeah anything like 1200Mah Lipo or a 1500mah is fine.

Did you have any cogging issues or hesitation from a stop going full throttle. I just received my sg1604pro from banggood and it was already brushless converted. The thing cogs bad after 1 battery pack the motor took a shit.

on this build i wondered why you did not spend $5 more and install the jumbo radio/rxgyro? i would think it would handle speed runs better... but i guess it was a cost /challenge thing... thanks

Well, I'll be honest, I just had this convo with my friend, I think the gyro thing is a lil overrated. I always tend to turn it down anyways or not use it at all. But each car is different, so I will see how this car does when I do the speed run.

Lastly...is this a 3s setup? and whats the battery that fits best ? a 1000 3s? also what do you expect its top seed to be on 2 or 3s? over 30 mph? run times / 10 min? very nice video showing great details btw thanks

I'm looking myself for that too. I am not sure the wheels and tires will hold up on my speed run, definitely have to glue them for sure. But I have not found anything as of yet.

I'm using a diamond select toys back to the future delorean for the body and marring it to the rc car. The wheel base doesn't fit by a half inch so I have to cut and stretch the chassis. Long process with everything.

standard 2s 1500mah 25c. When I do the run, I show the batteries I used.

on this motor what kv did you go with??? i will just run 2s so i was thing med range kv i thing its 4800... will it still have more punch out of the hole then the stock motor??? i see you ran 3s on yours... but again i just want to stay with 2s.. maybe 35 mph top speed...not looking for 45 mph unless you think the highest kv which is like 6600kv would be okay... just because a car can to 50 mph does not mean you have to go over 35 mph...lol thanks..

Yeah I think I went like 4600kv, which is plenty for this car. I think going with something over 5000kv is nutty. Not saying it can't be done, you just have to upgrade more things on the car then.

@@VallonesRCHobby cool..did you ever do a tear down on diffs and add grease? if so did you make a video??? thanks again... i was able to fit a new 9gm metal servo i had in this just now.i added a popical stick as a shim since it was a thinner size.. was able to position it perfectly... i see no reason for a servo saver..i have like 30 spar servos this size anyway... now i am liking this car again .. to bad i wont have fancy leds anymore...i may try to set them up later..but they were pretty cool...thanks for the tips...

@@VallonesRCHobby i see you installed the 4000kv version... so my guess is a 4600 should add maybe 5--7 mph ?? thats just a guess.. i think you hit 27 mph on stock 2s 1100 20 c... BTW this is a great build video... its makes sense to use all these parts... i bet that motor would also make a 144001 go crazy...thanks again

Okay i will need to go brushless now... the servo that came with my car was crappy and car never could stay trimmed...it turned out this was internal issue inside the plastic servo that allowed the arm to be pushed to left or right and stay there while to car was all powered up... when car was not powered up servo seemed great... i have built many planes over the years and have had many issues with servos,but this is the first time i ever had internal slop on a servo...not sure if mine is norm for this car or not... i even took a brand new wl toys 144001 servo and installed it... the 5 pin plug on wltoys servo is bigger...so i ended up cutting wires and soldering the sg 1603 plug on to wl servo... it did not even power up...very confusing now i ruined my wl servo... :(

i kinda sucks since i like the radio and these crazy lights...but i can't find a servo for this thing... and if i do it may be crappy like the first one..what a dilemma ..lol

Just wire the lights up to the 3rd ch on your receiver using a 3rd ch led switch , they cost a couple of bucks you just need to cut the plug of and use a servo plug ,

@@classicvwbugs so I can not just change motor and esc? I want to keep original receiver for the gyro. Looks like I should buy the dumboRC transmitter for The gyro effect. How fast with original setup with 2s battery? Just want to know how I’m going to hit 50 mph. That’s my goal. Is it hard to set up gyro on the new receiver I apologize for all the questions

Did the car take a hit by any chance? Did you try taking a look at the steering servo?
