@@Trey-jl9ru The "regular" Vibrola SG is $550. The black Custom is $570. I guess around $600-640 would be adequate if we're talking about it being a main line product and not some kind of limited edition/custom shop item (which was what I meant). Paying more than 1k for any Epiphone (except a vintage MIJ one) is ridiculous.

Guys I bought the SG yesterday. And trust me! They fixed that frets thing. Mine feels sooooo comfortable!!! It feels like a smooth maple neck you would get on a Telecaster. Really I love love my guitar!!!! I dont regret one dollar of it. And I'm planning (in the future) to get the Gibson 490r and 498t pickups to make it sound and feel closer to the Gibson model. I love this thing. Its also the lighest guitar Ive ever had. 🎸

I played Les Paul's until the day I picked up my 2019 Gibson SG. If I would have played the SG first I wouldn't own 3 les pauls and an SG I would own 3 SG's and 1 Les Paul! The 6lb 2oz body of my SG is the real reason I love it. Until this guitar I was convinced that the heavier the better, but this SG changed my whole outlook on guitars. Great demo I have been looking at the 2020 in Pelem Blue with P90s.

I was a singlecut guy for many years (and I'm still). But I always loved SG. Angus Young (new album soon !), Tony Iommi and many, many great guitar players. But I never bought one because... Of neck dive. I was affraid about it. I was thinking it's unplayable. But recently, I was like "f*ck it, I want one". So, I bought one, a few months ago. A G-400 Negative Series (with Maple Fretboard) and... I immediately fall in love with SG. I was like "why did I wait that long to try one ?!". Yes. It have neck dive. A lot. BUT, surprisingly, it's really easy to deal with. To me, I naturally find the perfect position to play on my SG, without having any issues. I waited so many years just because of neck dive and, today, I find it easy and confortable to play... So... A few days later... I bought an other one. An Ebony G-400 Pro. Awesome guitar. And... I'm already looking to buy an other one ! 2020 Epiphone 66 Standard or 61. I don't know yet but it's gonna be a Cherry Red this time ! Sorry if I talk about my life but... I just want to say. If you're afraid about neck dive, like I was, try one. And I hope you're gonna love it as much as I can. It's really easy to deal with. Right position and/or big strap. Thanks for your video Hunter ! Love it, as always. It's great to see an other Singlecut guy enjoy a lot some SG. Btw, sorry for my poor english and greetings from France !

I too was afraid of neck dives for the longest time, and being an explorer guy i thought it would be too great of a transition for me to ever get comfortable with. However, i had always lusted for the Gibson Iommi SG, 24 frets and all, and when i finally found one for an "acceptable" price i bought it, knowing it'd be my first and last SG. I was pleasantly surprised how little i had to compensate for the dive, even being a standing up player, cos of the low general weight of the guitar. Not to mention the great growl from the signature pickups! That guitar is a keeper, and even if i won't keep it (how else could i finance the brimstone burst explorer?) i won't sell it with a loss, that is for sure!

I have a Korean SG from the 80's and it doesn't have neck dive 😏, I had an SG 400 62' and I let the neck dive cloud my judgment and I traded it. I upgraded all the electronics and put a Dimarzio Super Distortion bridge (only) and it sounds sweet 👍. I've come to really like Lower output pick ups because they are warmer and give me a sound I really like.

As a metal fan, the more you listen to Black Sabbath (the Ozzy years, the Dio years, and even the Ian Gillian album) the more you will love it. It's THE root of all metal music, all metal genres, and sub-genres, and the more you listen the more you hear things from other bands. The important things to remember is DO NOT make a playlist of titles you recognize, or of, "popular," Sabbath songs. DO NOT listen to covers/remakes and think that it helps you get an understanding, it may or may not. DO listen to entire albums, DO listen to the progression from album to album, and DO shove that, "not technical," comment back up your ass where you found it when your head was up there. 👍🏿 Play the lead guitar, or better yet, analyze the music theory behind the song, "Planet Caravan," and tell me that part about, "not as technical," or the bass solo before N.I.B. No, they're not modulating between the Enigma scale, Phrygian Dominant, and the Hungarian Minor, as key changes within the guitar solo, but it doesn't have to for it to be, "technical," nor to sound badass, or just sound like good, interesting music. Sometimes Al DiMiola played pentatonic minor, too. For the time these albums were produced, these albums were some of the most technical hard rock being played, and every one was as heavy and brutal, or more, than anything else that was even slightly out of the underground, and these guys were among the biggest bands of the day. The album "Master of Reality" is literally the birth of every stonercore, doom, sludge, etc. band ever. Metal doesn't exist, Punk doesn't exist, Grunge doesn't exist, without Sabbath opening wide a door that a few bands had gazed through the peephole. Sabbath kicked that door off its hinges. They also sound dark and haunting despite the fact that many of their songs are political, societal observations or critiques, or about love, about being in love, about being heartbroken, being lost, being depressed, about chapters of life ending and/or beginning, about cosmic or spiritual ideas or journeys, or they were subtle, metaphoric, or fucking brick in your face shockingly honest and blunt warnings AGAINST many things like war, or evil guiding you, or evil in other people's hearts, or the evils of greed or egomaniacal pursuits, or deceit/dishonesty. Their songs about drugs are in many cases graphic warnings against them, like heroin in, "hand of doom," or cocaine in, "snowblind," but, "sweet leaf," is definitely a song praising the plant, and the positive experiences, the beneficial effects on their personality, helping open up a shy introverted person, helping open their mind to new ideas and perspectives, allowing them to see themselves differently, more positively, allowing them to feel more comfortable and relaxed in social settings, and a feeling of freedom, among the positives that it brought into the life of the songwriter, and/or the narrator of the song. I promise you, the more you open up to, and the more you listen to the music of Black Sabbath the more you WILL love it and learn from it (and like I said, you NEED to listen to ALL the songs on an album, because it's like listening to Led Zeppelin, or Metallica, or Nirvana, any world changing, powerful, and transcendent band, and only listening to the popular radio songs, you miss out on the best music, you miss out on the most diverse music, you miss out on the creativity, you miss out on the power, you miss out on the perspectives of the individual musicians and their input on that band, and on every band that was influenced by them, and often some of those popular radio tunes are some of the closest to crappy songs those bands ever made). So, definitely listen to every album up until born again, and don't skip technical ecstasy because critics didn't like it, they're is still really good songs, and good riffs, and great Bass playing, on that album, do not skip the Ronnie James Dio albums, do not skip born again... but after that I really can't say anything one way or the other because that's about the point in the band when I stopped listening to their music. Too overproduced, it didn't speak to me. Some people may be able to tell you of some good songs in those late 1980s and 1990s albums, and you're free to decide on your own, but by that time Sabbath was no longer the influential metal powerhouse it had been, not close to it. I would recommend the first time you listen to those albums, go through them chronologically as they were released, go through that a couple times, and then start putting them into the order of your preference period based on what I know the music that you like, the music you tend to play in your own riffs, you will probably be most into the later Ozzy albums from volume four to sabbotage to Sabbath bloody Sabbath, and the three albums immediately following Ozzy being dismissed from the band, heaven and hell, my rules, and born again. Then again, you may be into the birth of doom and sludge and stoner and any metal that uses a fuzz pedal on master of reality. If you find yourself enjoying those kinds of riffs and those kinds of sounds more and more, check out corrosion of conformity from the early to mid-1990s onwards, it's all good, check out the albums of Down, Kyuss... Yeah...

At the age of 13, when I started listening to heavy metal and rock music, I bought my first Sabbath album, their first self-titled. The moment I heard Tony's work on Warning was a turning point in my life. The only thought on my mind was "I want to learn to play the guitar just like this guy". At that moment and coming from no musical background I decided to learn to play and picked up the guitar. I'm 37 now and still listening to those albums with the same awe. Yes maybe their not as technical and flashy as some of the players of our time but none of them can create the feelings that they can through their music. That's the point of rock music, to be able to express your thoughts, feelings and emotions not to show off how technical, fast and flashy player you are.

I'm sure there is. I think he's more of tony than angus. Angus a huge blues rock influence. Tomy is pure metal.

If you want to deep dive into modern bands who Sabbath have directly influenced, simply hang around the stoner rock and doom metal subgenres.

volume 4 is my favorite Black Sabbath album, Tony Iommi’s guitar work on that album sounds like a tsunami of distortion.

There isn’t much layering because the recordings were basic to tape in the early 70’s. Go listen to “13” it’s layered. Don’t under sell the importance of simplicity

Lololol thank you hunter I love your videos, also because you rate the brooms objectively. In the early seventies I wanted to buy a Gibson SG but decided on an LP. The SG was heavier than my entire hometown and a really rough part, without a clear coat, a really rough board. The part looked as if someone had nailed it together in some backyard. In contrast, today's Epiphone looks like pure gold. Rock on Yetimatze

dude, I'm such a Epiphone fan boy but I totally get you; crappy fret issues suck. Would it be worth getting and doing a fret dressing on? Doesn't look like it....

So I have gibson guitars from all eras 70s les paul customs and 2000s standards and lots of other usa made guitars but I didn't have an explorer or an sg but I keep hearing how the new epiphones are great and they look great so I bought the black explorer and immediately swapped the pickups for seymour Duncan's and I love it plays and feels great so I got a deal on this sg custom from American musical supply it said blem but I can't find it , anyway I just got it and was jamming on it and I love it also I'm not changing the pickups they sound great and thankfully my fretts are fine so maybe I got lucky but the 2 epiphone guitars I bought are excellent and fair priced and now I don't need to spend tons of money on those models these were fine actually I play the explorer all the time now 😀 check them out you'll like them

Honestly, I’m surprised Boss hasn’t sent you the Katana Artist MkII to try out. The cab resonance settings are really nice to use for tone shaping!

I guess leveling, crowning and polishing frets is too much of a expense at the Epiphone Chinese factory.

You should definitely check out Black Sabbath's catalog! The original metal band. I also think you would particularly like their years where Dio was the singer (you may have heard Heaven and Hell without knowing it was black sabbath)

Really like the demo Hunter, wouldn’t mind you doing some more like these, feel I could hear the guitar a little better than some of the more heavy ones you do ? I’m not much of a djenty guy so love that you do some different styles. Keep them coming mate :)
