Tech fan here. I think we go 8-4 if we can keep our QB healthy (which we haven’t done since Mahomes). It is a really easy schedule.

Tech will easily beat that projection IMO. It is an easy schedule. North Texas in Lubbock is light years easier than Wyoming at 7K feet elevation. ASU is an easy Tech win. --this was recorded before the QB bolted obviously. Arizona is losing a lot to the portal as well. Wash St has lost so much of its team in the past 12 months that they may end up being one of the easiest road games. OKST on road will be very tough but they do get the bye week to prepare. That is a solid OKST favorite game. TCU has a lot of talent if they can get it to gel. I'd be shocked if Tech doesn't reach 8-9 wins. They have been top 25 in recruiting 3 years running and that will make up the bulk of the unheard of as to this point depth. All that said like last year if you end up with 2 severe QB injuries you can underperform. Legit concerns around the OL and interior DL but face few teams who recruit to where it matters. OU/UT being gone will favor Tech mightily.

I have them improving by 2 games this season to 8-4...

Just the pure fact that texas tech rosters on paper is better than arizona last couple years in recruiting so I will take tech in that game hardest games would be TCU Oklahoma state texas tech 9-3 record

I am sad to say that this is the easiest Tech schedule in my lifetime. There is not one game on that schedule that people would be surprised if we won and probably only 3 we won't be favored in at the beginning of the season. Still, it is hard to project more than 8-4, 5-4 until McGuire proves he can lead us beyond that level.

I’m going to put the Colorado game in the blue. But I do agree with the other 50:50 games for Texas Tech.

My prediction: cincinnati shocks us and nearly beats us. We start the season 4-1 with a loss at Arizona. Baylor turns around their defense and beats us in a revenge game after having a bye week. Tech gets angry, but narrowly loses to TCU and loses to Iowa State by two touchdowns. Maybe coach prime brags about how easily he's going to beat us, which causes a close, heated game that Joey somehow rallys the offense against Colorado's rebuilding defense. After that, Tech puts on an excellent defensive game against Gundy at Stillwater and suffers another irritating 10 point loss. At the end, Tech gets a revenge game against WV to finish the season 6-6. We don't have enough depth and returning experience, especially on the o-line to have a good season. This season will be about survival and seasoning our talent for a comeback in 2025.
