Quick question if someone can answer using the 1990 Score Frank Thomas from this video, is it even worth sending a card like that to SGC to get graded? A PSA 10 in that card is selling for $60 - $100 and SGC cards don't get anywhere near the same price as a PSA so to me it seems like its throwing money away getting a card like that Frank Thomas graded by SGC. That Thomas card as an SGC 9 can't go for more than $20 tops (If PSA 10s are getting $60) It seems to me you wouldn't even be able to recoup the money you spend getting it graded with SGC.... Am I missing something?

Card collecting isn’t all about flipping for profit. That’s what you’re missing.
@kevm2433 жыл бұрын
@@MrDoughboyStyle I understand that but he runs a store on Ebay so he is selling most of this stuff

You are missing the big picture. Yes, that frank score will be break even but the lebron fleer 10s I paid 150 each for are close to 1 thousand in value now. That pays for the rest of the order. Of course it is not all about the money And profit

@@Eliteco3 thanks for the response. I wasn't questioning your business as you obviously know what you are doing and are successful. I was just asking because I've recently got back into collecting (as it seems the whole world has) and I have tons of cards from the late 1970s thru the early 1990s when I stopped collecting (Approx 20,000 cards) Im thinking about starting to send in a lot of those 1980s - 90s Stars cards to be graded to move some in order to start buying a lot of the newer stuff. I've went through most of them and have put aside the cards that are worthy to be graded so I'm just trying to gather info in these videos. I enjoy your videos and like to hear your take on things as you go through your cards. Keep making the videos and I wish you continued success!

@@kevm243 thanks Kevin. Another thing I wanted to point out is pop control. Those Lebron fleer's and the Kobe topps RC I had as strong grades and legitimate shots at Gem Mint in my pre grades. Those could have easily been pop control 9's from PSA. Been grinding at these bulk orders for 10 years so you pick up little nuggets like this along the way

I've been grading with SGC since the 90's when it first started in New Jersey and even all this time I'm really surprise that their cards are still not respected as PSA yet. They have consistent grades unlike BGS or PSA

I love watching these reveals Nolan. TY as always for sharing them. I think SGC graded cards are a great value now. While they are certainly worth less than a PSA graded equivalent at this time, it may now still be that way in the future. SGC grading seems to be overall a bit stricter than PSA & I think the slabs are much better looking. If your buying the card and not the label SGC is priced on the cheap for the moment.

Awesome submission Nolan! Yeah SGC is pretty backed up - they're running about 4 months delay on their orders, equalling that of PSA. I think I will probably go with PSA from now on, unless it's vintage which I might go with SGC from time to time!

Grading was a great mark idea, it made most junk wax collections worth less, so people had to re buy fresh to pull gem mint again, because the plastic binders are corner killers and edges, so back then that’s all we had it was hard , I’d say out of 150 pages? in my binder, I’d be lucky to have some 9.5-9’s a lot of 8 and below, also we didn’t collect like that, or I didn’t as long as they were clean no creases or worn corners , edge, centering , definitely surface wasn’t like it matters now, as I the only one?? Keep up the great work love the submissions wish I could send this many in at once , no patience! RB

Finally (just) picked up a Lebron star UD card (BGS 9.5) at a good price. Agree with you, it's the most underrated of his base rcs. Agree with the Vlad assessment. It might be more of a problem in hoops (Zion), but I don't see many overweight athletes having long productive careers, even in less plyo sport like baseball. It's simple physics.

I really dislike BGS as well and my PC is a mix of PSA and SGC. But for pure resale value, you cannot deny that BGS gold and black label 10's carry more of a premium than PSA and SGC. I mean I saw a Jordan that goes for $200 in PSA10 that went for over $15K in a BGS black label. It's CRAZY.

Do you think that eventually sgc slabbed cards will come closer to equaling the value of psa slabbed cards? It seems to me that they are pretty accurate with their grades and like you said don't focus on pops. I guess time will tell.

Saw you swapped alot of you listings on eBay to auction. Any thoughts on using auction vs. using buy it now? I always struggle with that paradigm - auction usually gets you cash now but less value (on average) but buy it now gets you what you feel the true value is however you probably will wait for that specific buyer.

I love the SGC Tux slabs but for me, it seems that fingerprints are the kiss of death. It's the only thing about them that I don't like. Once you get fingerprints (before you get your Superior Fits on them) or if a seller sends one with them, they're really hard to get completely clean again. Does anyone else have this issue? It leaves like a slight haze. Any ideas on what to use to clean them up? It also looks like a lot of these slabs came pretty scratched up, what's the deal with that??
