Clint put my sentiments into words at 14:24. I too love the new Mortal Kombat movie. Is it bad? Yes. Do I love it regardless? Yes. The same goes for this film. I liked the Snyder Cut, but it wasn't the greatest film of all time and Snyder isn't the messiah of DC movies that his toxic and rabid fans make him out to be. To be clear, I'm not calling ALL fans of his rabid and toxic, but there definitely are some that need to chill. EDIT: I literally wrote this before I heard the part where you guys talked about the Snyder Cult and damn, people do be more crazy than I thought...

To them, nothing matters but their lord Zack. It always perplexes me when people say he's a nice person, like bro, HE PAID for bots to harass and threaten Warner execs, and his bullshit with how he treated these characters, on top of Watchmen's shit in the first place, got his daughter bombarded with so much hate and threats from entitled toxic incels, that she KILLED HERSELF to be free of it, and then he & his wife used that as a marketing ploy with the Snyder Cut. Unspeakably insane behaviour.

Just getting to this and 1 hour 10 minutes in. I had to say hearing Clint's and Ian's willingness to see "Army of the Dead" is hilarious considering how awful it was on release. That little bit had me giggling. I followed this toxic campaign just because some other YT personalities were talking about it. Those KZfaqrs had to start commenting in their videos to tone down the toxicity or people will start getting blocked. As a result of that online campaign I rarely post on YT. I stopped using all other social media. I love your channel, I have subscribed and I'm going through liking all the videos as I complete them. I am rooting for you all to have more success with this.

One disagreement I do have is A.I, actually no it’s not a disagreement I just go easier on it because it’s a project that Spielberg ended up with after the passing of Kubrick and if I remember the movie correctly it felt less Spielbergy than his other projects and was more of Spielberg trying to make a Kubrick styled film. Although if I remember anything from A.I which the more I’m trying to remember the less I can remember, the movie was pretty slow. TLDR- I don’t remember AI but at one point thought it was the last time one of Spielberg’s felt like there was something behind it

Have you guys considered looking at and discussing the angry fan outcry over the Rings of Power? It's crazy how it, along with Star Wars, has reached a near religious fundamentalist attitude over whether the decisions stay true to the "gospel" of the creators or go against it. That any alterations or interpretations are seen as disrespectful and blasphemous, it's insane.

First - you guys are great to listen to. Awesomesauce. I think this is the first podcast Ive listened to of yours though, where I was like...."hmm, getting a little too political and philosophical". Like where I thought the main conversation could go into a tangent for another hour or more lol. It makes it more interesting though - because this cut was done in a highly polarizing time I think. So there is some irony there. It also is a great example of how just a few people compared to the base audience, can override the main stream and create a situation. And the influence of the internet "mob". Makes me more curious of your personal viewpoints on other things. You can tell there was a lot of "tongue holding". Great stuff.

Really good video, my comment is not related to the main focus of it, but just some food for thought - I'm no comic-book kind of fan in the least, but I'll watch them. My extent of batman knowledge is pretty much just from the dark knight. However, when you say that Joker would be the same film without it being the joker, or in another video when 10 Cloverfield lane would be the same without being of that franchise, I don't think it's right. They still might both be great films, maybe even better without the framing, but the inclusion of the known element, even if it seems irrelevant does change them beyond trying to rope in a larger, accepting audience. It pretty much introduces preconceptions from the start that dont need to be established within a blank slate film, you as the viewer already have a sense of direction from the start that you wouldn't have otherwise
@ItWasAShtShow
@ItWasAShtShow Жыл бұрын
And that’s exactly the studio’s thinking. By attaching the brand, it would attract more people to it. But the counter point to that is, why? The 80s and 90s were filled with original ideas that people loved without preconceptions. Did 10CL really need the connection? It’s a great film that could stand on its own. It’s an interesting dilemma; then vs now.

Dope channel; glad I found it. I remember Todd Philips mentioning he wrote a pretty cool movie and figured that the way to make people want to see it would be making it a Batman movie. Comic Book Twitter in general sucks, everyone always feels entitled and it's exhausting. I love Snyder's movies, but man I've gotten so much crap for giving my grievances with them. I'm happy with the Snyder cut, and I've met some great people, some disagree, but I'll like what I like and stay off Twitter. It's the least we can do nowadays haha.

I agree NO ONE came out of this well. And considering the mess that still is the DC side of films and how worse it got when they should have just blew everything up and started over. I have faith in James Gunn, but no one has learned anything with toxic behavior and seemingly it has only gotten worse. The state of movies in general is still recovering from a post Covid world and now post writers strike world. I’m trying to be hopeful of the future. Holy crap that was long…sorry😂

The Venn Diagram of people who have Scarface posters & love that movie, and the people who think that Walter White is the protagonist of Breaking Bad and that Skyler is an antagonist, is a fucking circle. Satire and subtext are completely invisible to them. Characters and actors are interchangable. Also on the topic of Ray Fischer, he's absolutely justified in his anger and his complaints and suffering are justified, but he's absolutely been used by Snyder as a human shield and so he can pull the " I have a black friend" sympathy card without actually caring about Ray's experience. You have to remember, Ray Fischer was a theater actor before Justice league, he expected this movie to be his big break to making hundreds of millions over the next 10 years. He was very naïve and blinded by the thought that his career was set like Chris Evans or Tom Holland. His anger is justified and valid, but boy did he fucking feed the trolls

@@ItWasAShtShow I agree. It's also problematic when people lump an entire group together, including the inevitable bad actors of ANY group of substantial size. The corporatocracy is EVIL, exploiting the rest of us, mostly decent, folks - and now they've turned ratcheted up their plans for censorship to cover greater tyranny, exploitation, and outright war. Message control and propaganda are critical tools wielded by the corporate media for their fifth generation warfare. Stories from the Greek and Roman theaters through Shakespeare and Vaudeville all tell us that audiences used to boo and throw things at the actors. Film corporations today know that they don't have to make good films to make profits and the audiences are getting fed up.

I came to listen this expecting something like the rogue one podcast where we get the little details behind the scenes like the fact Snyder had a rough cut of the thing in his work laptop things like that, instead the podcast was more about shitting on snyder and his fanbase i made it to the hour mark and still no juicy details. Im not a snyder fan and for me his fanbase is a non factor i just like the behind the scenes details, title should be #zsnyderfanbase was a shitshow.

I think there is some evidence that rotten tomatoes and other “critics” are paid by studios to make good reviews or, at the very least, have flawed metrics . Shit, the new Nick Cage movie has an 87% and it was a bland, soulless advertisement disguised as a film. For reference, The Shining sits at 85.. I know film is subjective, but at least when Roger Ebert is wrong, their review doesnt seem like and advertising gimmick.

Sorry, that doesn’t happen. If it did, it still wouldn’t be enough reviewers to sway the numbers. Plus, just because you don’t like it, doesn’t mean others shouldn’t. I thought Hero with Jet Li was so incredibly boring, but it sits at like 99%. That’s ok, it wasn’t for me.

@@ItWasAShtShow Should sources with the perceived credibility of Rotten Tomatoes not be held to a certain standard though? Afterall, the tomatometer is controlled by them at the end of the day.

So explain how Josh Whedon butchering the Cyborg Story (he was the heart of the movie) and bullying Gal Godot was done in good faith. It wasn't a conspiracy, it was the general incompetence and douchebaggery of WB. The funniest thing about these reviews tearing down the work of others highlights none of you do anything and seem to have a taste for whatever shit you're fed by corporations. "We're fans" 10 minutes later "fans suck"...such credibility.

@@ItWasAShtShow lol. She slept with 5 reviewers to get an inflated review for her game, and bullied a man into suicide. Then when she gets exposed, shrieks about the patriarchy. All the while, insulting the fandom and belittling every man that doesn't give her a pass on her toxic behavior. God bless her though, she managed to get nerds to stand up to bullies.
