First time commenter, long time listener. I came over from listening on Google Podcasts to make this comment. I've literally never heard of this movie, although to be fair it wasn't the kind of fairytale thing my parents would have been letting me watch when I was five. I just wanted to say that when you were talking about hosing them down you missed a prime opportunity to make a joke about lederhosen being Ledger-hosen. That's all and it's a terrible joke but I couldn't stop laughing about it. Great episode as always!

Okay, you all joked about this being someone's favorite movie, so strap in. This came out when I was a sophomore in High School and my friend came running up to me one day, rambling about how she'd just seen one of the greatest movies. She gushed about this movie for months. Fast forward to the following year and she and I go to Prom together. Afterward, our group is hanging out at her house, talking, and The Brothers Grimm gets brought up. Somehow, of the six of us, I'm the only one who hasn't seen it. So here we are at 1am, watching The Brothers Grimm. We finish and they're all raving about how amazing it was and I'm sitting there regretting not going home to get some sleep. They're all baffled when I say I thought it was horrible, and from that day forward they would often poke fun at me for not loving the movie. I haven't thought about this movie in almost two decades. Thanks to this podcast, I had to think about this movie and how my first afterprom was a massive shitshow.

This movie has lived rent free in my head since I was 7. Not in a fond nostalgia way, more like a holy shit that was traumatizing to watch nostalgia. Good times🤍

I actually do enjoy it and have it on DVD. I revisit it every few years, and am always let down slightly, but love the concept of it and enjoy so much about it that ignore the bad parts. Sets are awesome and so much about it is great. Always enjoyed fairy tales and love the dark ones like the dark Snow White with Sigourney Weaver which is what me makes go back to it. I agree that it should have been better, but I just watch it for what it is, not it’s brilliance.

I loved this as a kid. It was so haunting but cool and fun at the same time. Watch it a few years ago. Can see the problems in it but was glad I enjoyed it as a kid

I've been speed running through the podcast, which is amazing because I avoid most podcasts. However, you guys have fantastic chemistry, and a great format. The focused videos drew me in and I couldn't escape. Baldur's Gate probably hates how little I've played in the last week

i didn’t get the notification for this one, I watched this movie on cable late one night with my wife, I kinda forgot all about it, once you explained it it made sense why when watching it the movie feels disjointed at times, & it makes me wonder who ideas was the directors & whose were the others. I wonder if one day if hollyweird will try to make this movie again. Great video & i’m looking forward to the next one

This movie scared the hell out of me as a kid. I wasn't great with horror or uncanny dream logic in films, so the horse with the spiders and the gingerbread sequence were too much for me to handle at 6 years old

That CGI mud monster thing disturbed me so bad that I genuinely couldn't sleep for weeks and put off listening to this podcast bc the title brought back horrible memories. There's a certain type of CGI that seriously churns my stomach usually in the 80s/90s but this one got me something terrible And we only watched a clip of the movie in class!

“A spec script is an entirely new and original idea script” actually that is not the truth, Ellen. A spec script can be me writing an episode of its always sunny in philadelphia. It just means a script that you hope someone eventually buys. It doesnt have to be wholly originally

Have watched the videos but only recently started listening to the podcast and I'm really enjoying it. Surprised The Island of Dr. Moreau (Brando/Kilmer version) and Apocalypse Now haven't been covered yet. When someone mentions troubled productions, they're the two that immediately come to mind. But I can't complain about what _has_ been covered. This is great stuff.

Definitely have them on the list. My main hesitancy is that both of them have full length documentaries about them. Should they be videos? Podcast? What can I add to that conversation? But yes, we’ll get to them eventually. Glad you’re enjoying both shows!

That’s fair. I wasn’t aware of the Dr. Moreau documentary but you’re right that these two have been covered which is likely why they immediately come to mind. With that in mind, I’d suggest a podcast episode if you do tackle them. A documentary isn’t the same as listening to the three of you banter about it.

Spooky season is more applicable to Halloween anyway. The holiday in general isn’t very scary these days 25:09 If you do a Terry Gilliam episode, please bring up the fact that he’s one of the people who signed a petition that Roman Polanski should never be charged for drugging and raping a minor. 30:40 you guys called Weinstein a man baby for being a creep but are totally okay with Gilliam being an asshole because he had to work with an actress he didn’t want to cast?
