One, a wildly deflected shot, that no one could save, followed by a penalty that was a joke decision. We took our foot off the pedal, as usual, and the manager made the usual non productive substitutions.

For me he was trying and didn't play that bad up front, what infuriates me is that both wingers never cover their man when defending. They stay 2-3 meters away from him and once he gets the ball they run to him, but it's too late he already has the ball and ususally passes them by with no problem - as they are not really defence minded. I put the fault on the players usually, but this seems to be a tactical decision, which I just don't understand...

@dabe00 yes, press break always goes toward Rashford side. Then when AWB is beaten high it leaves back exposed and even numbers or outnumbered defensively. How many times have we collapsed. Personally, I think it has everything to do with their fitness levels. If they are knackered, and are being told to play a certain way that requires massive amounts of energy, I can understand why they feel mentally weak. Like I said, they were fine for most of last season when they finished 3rd.

I fully understand your point, but Mainoo and Garnacho (and Hoijlund) need protection, they’ve been our best players but we can’t forget their age. How different would you have felt if those three were replaced with Amadou Onana, Olise and Toney for example. Ten Hag has no options on the bench.

Regardless of the subs, they were replaced by 2 international players in Erickson and Antony. No reason at all why we couldn’t see that through being 3-0 up with 19 minutes to go!!

Don't run or can't run? What happened at Ajax is irrelevant. Different league, different players, different level of opposition, different physical demands etc. also different circumstances like the world cup last season has taken its toll. You must have watch enough games this season to see the same pattern repeat itself over and over again. Come flying out of the blocks, playing fast energetic football for 20-30 mins before descending into a frantic, chaotic mess where the team is so spread out because they can't keep up with the play for 90 mins. 60+ seperate injuries this season says it all. Players with no history of persistent injuries suddenly dropping like flies and never really recovering. Something is quite wrong at Carrington. It can't be that 30+ players simultaneously just lose form for an entire season for no reason.

Saw a huge difference when certain players were out. Ten Hag saw that and has been saying it all this time. The recruitment been way to poor. The squad has no balance and there are players on immense wages not pulling their weight. People want managers to do miracles but won't give them time to build new squads and implement a proper culture. Ten Hag might learn alot from a season like this. If Ineos wants a new manager in it doesn't mean that Ten Hag can't do a good job with a new squad. It just means that Ineos wants someone else to start rebuilding the squad and culture. We won't get a new manager in that guarantees success. No manager will guarantee success and Ineos has asked for patience and time to figure things out.
