This song was written in 61. It was recorded by the Earls. England raves about Shadow Waddys great version but Sha Na Nas Johnny Contralto took it to an all new level.

Cag758, I couldn't agree with you more! Johnny had one of the finest, smoothest Lead Singer tenor voices of the past sixty years and his voice is still wonderful today! Johnny Maestro kept his entire voice until he died at 70. Jay Black could still croon, Cara Mia smoothly until 70, and Little Anthony Guardine can still do today what he did when he was in his twenties with the Imperials. Tom Jones and Engelbert are marvelous as well into their mid seventies. Roy Orbison kept his voice until he died of lung cancer. Tony Bennett is still crooning with Lady Gaga at 88!!!!

Great song done by Johnny. He does this better than the original. Wonder if this was a Valentines Day song bc of the big heart? I know Johnny did this in the neighborhood setting which was fabulous as well and glad they used it again. Can never get too much of Johnny singing this classic.

If I was a teen ager and wanted to serenade a girl I had a big crush on, I would want Johnny Contardo's voice. Can someone tell me if he is an Italian-American?
@kyldy13 жыл бұрын
@gopherscout nope you got it all wrong to be born in the early 50's is the best cause some of us got to wear poodle skirts and to hear the good songs live! and then there are the poor girls born way after like 1960 something. or those who could not appreciate the show in the 70's cause we ere all growed up1 lol
