I've seen so many people catastrophizing over the loss of the secondary outfits as if it means the death of the brand. In my opinion, SH series 2 is one of the strongest collections they've released to date. There's something really special and luxe about each of the dolls' existing outfits, and the beauty of their faces/sculpts really stand out to me among my other RH dolls. Zooey and Glitch are perhaps now my two favorite dolls, and I'm looking forward to adding the rest of the line to my collection.

This set of Shadow High dolls is really beautiful. My faves are Reina and Rexx. While it is sad there is no longer second outfits, if it means better quality control and stable pricing, I'll accept it. There have been rumors floating around about seperate Rainbow High fashion packs so that may be the compromise to not packaging second outfits with dolls going forward. 27:28 Can't believe Rainbow High Series 1 released in 2000! It feels like it hasn't been that long.😋

Reina & Rexx are both awesome dolls! I think overall the compromises here were pretty fair. I did hear the rumored fashion packs / fashion-centric (allegedly) next series of the mini accessories studio, so hopefully we’ll continue getting extra fashions in one way or another! Omg, wasn’t it so iconic when Rainbow High rang in the new millennium?! 😍🤣 Oof, that was obviously supposed to say 2020, NOT 2000 lol. 🙈😭 My brain was fried after days of editing. 😅 Thanks for watching! -Max

Coincidentally I just opened Monique this morning before work. There's something about each character's design I like. I think these dolls are worth the price, but I would still prefer an extra outfit over accessories. However if they save the deluxe dolls for special lines and do core characters in single outfits, it won't bother me. I think Demi also has white eyelashes, but with her I guess it's meant to be part of her costume makeup.

Isn’t Monique stunning? 😍 There’s definitely something to enjoy with all 6 of these designs. And I agree, if we can at least continue getting secondary outfits on deluxe dolls and prices stay mediated, I think I’d be okay with it too. Good catch on Demi! Interestingly, it looks as though her eyelashes are black in the special episode of the show. 🤔 So yeah, it could just be part of her costume on the doll, but hard to confirm lol. I do feel annoyed at the drop second looks since the price drop isn't super drastic and - in some areas - is only a dollar or two cheaper than the prior series but I must admit that I do think this is a *much* stronger collection than series 1 and definitely on par with the best waves of rainbow high. The hangers do feel slightly like adding insult to injury tho lol I have 2 characters already and plan on two more so for me it's a success for sure

The returning hangers for this release definitely felt a bit ironic lol, but I think I had to sit with them in person to come to better terms with the financial / outfit compromise. I’m glad they at least brought their A-game design wise with this series, and still give us some extra goodies like the accessories. The missing second outfit I think stung most on Glitch…since we SAW her other outfit so many times in the show, which I definitely considered her signature look. I think the overall compromise here is fairer than it could have been, but how this factor falls into future releases will be pretty telling. But yeah, the fact that I mostly love the Series 2 dolls / characters so much overall softens much of the blow lol. I wasn’t kidding when I said no skips! 😆 Haha thanks as always for watching & commenting buddy! ❣️ -Max

I think this series two is better than series one!⭐ Other than Natasha and shanelle I wasn't crazy about the greyscale dolls of series one ....but this series two is a definite improvement!👍 I like the fantasy colors and themes. Much more creative and appealing.⭐⭐⭐

Amazing job on the reviews and the video (as usual)! I absolutely love Shadow High series 2. Even with the loss of a second outfit, the value continues to be great. The quality of the outfit pieces is super, and with all the layered outfits, you still get it mix it up. Monique is the only one with a one-piece outfit, but the dress is so stunning (and she is so stunning in it) that I don't even care. I really didn't think I would like Dia, but in person, she is a stunner. Monique is my fave, but Dia has snuck into my 2nd position. Zooey is currently in 3rd place, but that could change once I get the rest.

I bought Rexx. I love his skin tone and his haircut is INSANE!!! Wish his outfit has more colors. When placed on my dresser everything [all black] against his skintone just blends into itself. Thank you for the research on their designer inspirations, I see the resemblances.

I really appreciate all the research and work you’ve put into this video, kudos ❤. I wasn’t going to watch as I’m just a casual RH collector, but I’m really glad I did. The clear references to previous designer collections and older discontinued doll collections such as NoviStars makes it pretty obvious they’re aiming at the adult and older teen collector market, not the kid market. If this line was destined for the play market they would have kept the cheaper outfits and the second outfit. I really don’t want more accessories though; a RH doll can easily use accessories from other doll lines, but not their clothes as their body is very specific to RH. That’s why the second outfit was crucial and I hope they go back to offering them. To me the useless accessories are a brain fart for an otherwise well-designed doll line. It’s clear that these dolls were meant only for display due to their intricate designer-inspired outfits. Thank you for giving me the info that makes me appreciate them more.

Awesome review boys! Love all the details you share. For me, I appreciate the price drop and actually think it’s fair. They’re on par with other $25 dolls - or much better. I would love to pick up Rexx and Karla in particular.

I feel like the notes from the higher ups to the design team is just “Go… AWF” and they just do. The detail on the inside of the coat… the belt you really can’t see unless you lift up the layers of ruffles… and 10 layers of ruffles? The creativity makes it so fun to collect. There is usually at least one doll in the drops that you resonate with.

I appreciate the time you guys take to create your videos. All of the details and fashion inspirations you provide make me appreciate the dolls even more. I like series 1 of SH more because there is cohesion with the grayscale palette plus I have never seen a full line of grayscale dolls. I like series 2 also because the dolls are drastically different. My favorites from this line are Monique, Glitch and Karla. Dia has to be my least favorite. Her mouth looks weird and I have a theory that she was supposed to have a different mouth expression but then it was changed later to show her teeth but she reminds me of a chipmink. I inspected the other dolls and they have an indentation between their lips that are supposed to be their teeth and it looks natural. Dia's teeth are painted onto her bottom lip. It really bothers me to look at it so I will end up painting her bottom lip to hide the teeth. Rexx isn't my favorite but I still like him. I thought I was seeing things but I noticed his head is smaller than the other dolls, both male and female. I also don't understand why he came with a comb when he has nothing to comb. I like Zooey but I think more should have been done to make her spectacular. I've seen photos of her dressed in Luna's silver outfit and she looks amazing and out of this world. The current outfit Zooey has is cute but she has potential to be more glamorous.

Again, the best review! Very much worth the wait. You guys really did the homework by researching every aspect of them! BTW I read on a group that Monique's snake dragon is known as "naga" and is Thai inspired. I have to admit, when these dolls first leaked I didn't like them, but as I've seen more of them now I can say I love them and looking fwd to have them all. Thanks again for your awesome review. ✨

Love the review! Demi Batista also has white lashes, so Karla is actually the 3rd character with it. I love all 3 of their dolls.

True! We did notice however that Demi has black lashes in the animated series, so it’s possible the white lashes were just part of her costume makeup. The main intention of that note was to highlight what (could be) another albinism-coded character. 😃 Thanks for watching & commenting! -Max

Here my Headcanon focus Reina Glitch Crowne is a Music Composer Focus Rexx McQueen is a Digital Media Focus Karla Choupette is a Fashion Designer Focus Monique Verbena is Textile Focus (Her outfit has so much texture and 3D feel) Zooey Electra is an Artist Focus (By her Computer showing a Art Studio of a Novi Star Drawing) Dia Mante is Influencer Media Focus

I always look forward to Toy Chat's reviews because of the indept coverage of each doll and fashion references. I had to have Monique first. She is the most beautiful of the series, IMHO. I love purple, and she is just beautifully executed! Next is Karla. I didn't expect to like her so much since there's so many pink dolls, but I will most definitely get her. I love Rexx. I love boy dolls, and he reminds me so much of Shanelle. Glitch is cute, but Dia and Zooey do nothing for me.

I actually prefer Shadow High series 2 over series 1 since I feel like the outfits are more fashion forward and I love the colors. Just like Sang, my favorites are Zooey & Monique! They are all so nice looking, though, and I can’t wait to see what’s next for Shadow High!

Great review, thanks! Would love these, but may not even see them where I live. Impressed with the quality of the clothing. Would prefer a second outfit over accessories. These could be made of more environmentally friendly materials, they get lost so easily.

Comparing these to the Jr High line, you get a lot more at the same price point: a full size doll, stand, and lots of accessories. I think taking away the second outfit was a fair compromise to get them priced at $25.

Thanks for sharing. In Europe (euros zone) the 2nd serie on Amazon cost 39.99 euros, a couple of euros more than the 1st serie, and when the products are running out you never find here the discounts you see in the US even in stores, rather they cost even more. On this side of the sea, being a dolls collector is always a bit frustrating. Having said that the collection is wonderful for me, so I will buy it for sure. At the moment my favorite is Zooey Electra, but I might change my mind once I see them live as happened before. my Ash is impatient to meet Rexx, he need a boyfriend.😂

These dolls are so much better than Rainbow high series 5, at least, to me. I have Karla and am looking to get Glitch. I have considered getting Rexx as he is the best boy doll. I think it is odd though that he is wearing a coat And a hoodie. It seems like he could have had a sweater or t shirt instead of the hoodie since he already has a coat. What do you think? I wish he had dreads though since none of the boy dolls have long hair, or even alternative styles. I would rather have the second outfit back instead of all the other stuff I don't need; or even pets. I know probably most people are not into pets, but I like them. Yes, I also hope they bring some greyscale dolls also. Great review guys :)

As a European collector I do really mind the missing of the second outfit. We need to pay 37-40€ for these dolls. Originally we paid around 25-32€. So we are paying now around 10€ more and MGA stole a whole complete outfit form us. This is ridiculous and totally unfair. So I will definitely not buy these dolls, until they go on major discount. Which they only do around Black Friday here. Not amused as a European collector. 😒

Hurray! My Ash finally has a boyfriend! Now if my Aidan could get one I would have six boys to love! P.S. I have a Novi Star (green and purple) floating around here somewhere... Was considering putting her on a jointed body when I got her but too much work changing the jointed body's skintone to match the head so who knows where the doll is pouting.

I got Dia tonight cus she was the last one to complete the series and honestly I think she’s such an ugly muffin 😂 her white outfit and all white shoulder length hair give her such stern face when I took her out of her boyish clothes and put her in Shanelles second outfit it did however help her ugly out a little lol but I’m glad I have her though
