I'm in love with this entire track but 1:40 really embodies the whole "I sank an entire kingdom to oblivion and I'm gonna do it again once I kill you." vibe, Mario has no choice here, he *MUST* win....for the sake of all those whom empowered him and Peach to this moment.

Dude, they did so freaking well on the music for Chapter 8. The way the Palace theme escalates throughout the chapter is so good, battles keeping the Palace theme gives them a completely different feel, Dark Bones and Gloomtail got their own themes, the song for when everyone gives you their support captures so much emotion, and Shadow Queen's themes are genuinely some of the best songs in the entire game

I'm sorry, but I don't know if I've ever played a remake that was made with more love and care. They did so good at bringing this game back with an amazing polish

I feel like the original kept the somber tone from the starting shadow queen fight, but this one feels more like "Yeah, everyone's backing you up including Peach, beyond all odds". It's more like a triumphant rush to stop her once and for all. Starts off somber but slowly transitions into an almost triumphant ending.

Never in my life have I been so pumped to fight a final boss again in ages. This one used to give me so much trouble as a kid. Coming back as an adult and beating her first try on the remake was beyond satisfactory.

Every part of the last chapter was done amazing in terms of music. Love how the music lowers when you come close to Gloomtail. Love how the music for when you open the door doesn't change, even in the title for chapter 8. I still prefer the opening of the door in the 2004 one, the stars appearing on the door had a creepy noise that made me as a kid say out loud "Is this a... Mario game?"

I was so hyped for this game when they announced the remake. I never played before, but the praise that the fanbase gives to this game always made me want to. Finished today and it was even better than my expectations. 10/10

Many "Final Phase" themes tend to have this tone of "The player is winning, they have the upper hand!" Not this time, all you did was just take away Shadow Queen's advantage, she can still flatten Mario unless you know what you're doing

A nice touch i found is the voice siging in all songs of the dark palace the moment you open the door and i think this women seems to represent the shadow queen her self and her voice showing how she influenced the palace and soon the entire world.

This feels very diferent, but one thing Im gonna give to the Remake, is the final extension.

Word on the street is that this and all the other battle themes with the Shadow Queen suck???? …No…I’m sorry but I have to heavily disagree with this. Maybe this is my guitar bias coming back again, but this is a phenomenal remix. And even though there’s a bigger emphasis on guitars and violins like most of the other tracks in the remake, I think it still sells the eerie vibe of the Shadow Queen, how you’re fighting this eldritch demon that’s hell bent on ending the world *and you* too. Although one thing I can say is that, I feel like there should’ve been an organ playing here too. The guitar mixing in with the violin and the haunting vocals are friggin great, but I feel like some parts could’ve been played with an organ there, since it felt like the OG them had a major emphasis on it. I think that’s what slightly holds this track back for me and makes me liking phase 1 of the theme a bit more. But both tracks are KILLER don’t get the wrong idea here.

Just beat the game today I'm so sad I went through the entire game without dying until literally the last phase of this fight. She had like 20 hp left but I didn't expect her to kill mario in one turn in exact damage. I underestimated her damage output

to be honest, I love this ost, but I feel like nothing can compare to the original. this encaptures more of an epic sound to it, whereas the first and original OST from '04 ttyd sound horrifying and hopeless. still, this remake of it is very good

I personaly think it kinda fealed unsetisfying that they managed to only make a 7/10 for the endboss theme, after making a total 10/10 for the shadow palace and Grodus theme. Even the final Shadow sirens and gloomhook theme were solid 8/10.

I love the moment at 0:15 and the additional portion before the loop starts but the rest mostly drowns out what made the original so great and forces the guitar again here. Not bad but I still prefer the OG. I think a mashup between both versions might work well tho.

Ok. I have LOTS of feelings associated with this song because this game was a ginormous part of my childhood so here we go. Pros: WOW when this song wants to go hard, IT BRINGS IT. Big dynamic changes. Big explosions of sounds after pauses. Good shit right there. Cons: I... didn't find myself smiling much about this one unlike all the others in the soundtrack. Yes, the hard parts hit hard, but the big thing that made this song so cool for me was its eeriness. The subtle feeling of hopelessness, of "will I really be able to get through this?..." it got my heart racing. I find this version kinda lacks that. But that's just my opinion lol, I still love this song TO DEATH and I'm so glad it was at least done well in the remake.

Man, this fight was rough. I beat her by the skin of my teeth my first time around. I had 3 hp, and beat her with a basic hammer swing.

I think if the chorus just shut up a bit, I'd like it more than the original. A lot of the added guitar/metal parts are cool as hell, but I'm not a big fan of chorus and singing like that in my boss fights. 0:16 to 0:30 sounds great. The guitar's going crazy and it's a great addition to the original track. But then from 0:30 to 0:44 you have this backing chorus playing against the instruments. I feel like the track would be better without that additional chorus. And then right after this, it disappears to let the guitar shine again. But at 0:59 the chorus comes back like "I'm back bitch" and it takes some of the energy away from that guitar that's rocking the shit out of this track in such a cool way. Now go to 1:40, you can barely hear the instruments here because the chorus is losing it's goddamn mind. Thankfully they shut up for the coolest part of the song at 1:53 to 1:59. While I'm at it, go to 1:00 in the original track. What happened to that part? That was one of the coolest parts of the original and now it's just really muted here in the remake for some reason, what the hell? I'm really curious what this track would sound like without all the singing. It sounded cool enough in-game, but listening to it here it just sounds like it's almost trying too hard to be a final boss theme with that added choir.

OG is more haunting. New version's drums and electric guitars kick ass, but the choir sounds cheesy. It's more like rock opera.

This is a pretty good reimagining, however I really feel they dropped the ball at 0:31. This section in the original sounded like a mix of muffled sirens singing and metal chimes echoing. It was eerie, yet etherial all at the same time, and it's a sound I've never heard anything close to since. This version just sounds like someone's voice echoing down a hallway. It's not bad, but it just doesn't compare.

This is good for something "different." Same problem I have with a large portion of the rest of the remade songs. The natural I don't know what to call it melody maybe (not a music expert), gets drowned out by all the added instruments that sound like they're fighting over each other. Also why rock guitar everything. like at 0:17 in the original, it sounds like you just got dragged down to her realm and it shook everything around you. In this one that drop is faded, yeah, faded is the best word I can use to describe the remade tracks. Faded from the OOMPH that the original soundtrack gave in favor of rock music put everywhere. It just sounds lesser, more generic.
