When you think about it, the Corruption is death. The Crimson, however, is *LIFE.* Way too much life.

If the Crimson were real, take a moment to imagine how it would smell.

After reading the lore that the Crimson is basically _alive,_ the beginning of this track now creeps me out. You only hear this music when you enter the Crimson, so it sounds like it's waking up, alert to the presence of something that it hasn't consumed yet.

"I'm a brave boy!" *Face Monster* "Not a brave enough boy for this!"

Crimson: I'll kill you. Corruption: *WELCOME TO SPOOKY TOWN*

The fact that this is scarier than the underworld is what scares me even more

I love how the Crimson doesn't share any soundfonts with any other biomes, as opposed to Corruption sharing them with Purity. It's a little detail to reinforce that the Crimson isn't a naturally occuring thing: it's an otherworldy hivemind that's already conquered galaxies.

The Crimson was so good at spawning in the middle of the Jungle that for a while I thought the Jungle music was the Crimson music.

Imagine if the Crimson was real. You're walking in a beautiful forest, taking a peaceful stroll to explore while some peaceful slimes bounce their way by you. As you continue to walk through the forest, you smell a FOUL stench. You look around, but, you don't see anything that could be producing the smell. But as you walk further, the smell gets worse. You keep walking. It gets worse. The area starts to smell like a strange scent of iron. As you keep walking through this forest, a drop of blood drips from one of the leaves onto your face. You keep the pace, and the blood dripping increases in frequency, as the smell is almost unbearable. Eventually... the trees are soaked. The grass soak your footwear in blood, as each step gives a *squish* sound. Torn and lone eyeballs torn in the grass, in the trees, dead carcasses. The smell is rotten. And then you see it. You see... The Face Monster's gaping mouth as it simply stands there. Staring at you with its' hollow eyeholes.

Corruption: "Become one of us!" Crimson: "Become one with ME!" Notice the difference?

It's weird how the Underworld is no where close to being as scary as Crimson.

Easily the most frightening music in the game. The Corruption theme is a little foreboding, but this is downright oppressive by comparison. The second you enter the Crimson, it loudly makes you aware of 2 things: it's not a place you want to hang out in for too long, and you are NOT welcome there.

"Hey what's this red grass? Is it some kind of Autumn biome?" > Hears this > Background changes > Sees Face Monster *_> NOPES as fast as possible_*

This track has something special to me. The crimson is the first time I've ever felt fear in a video game. Not some lazy startle by a jumpscare, but actual fear, even though it was just pixels on my tv. When I first entered the biome, I had no idea what it was since this was my first time playing Terraria. I entered it thinking it was some sort of autumn biome, but I quickly realized something was wrong. Very, very, wrong. The grass looked tainted with blood and the hills in the background almost looked made of flesh and teeth. And the pace and tempo of the music was telling me to run. This was no autumn biome. Suddenly, a flying creature and a deformed and bloody character came up to me and started attacking me. I was dead within seconds. Now, I am almost done with the game (Im in the lunar events) But the entire game I knew the crimson was spreading quickly and soon it would be out of my control. And the fear wasn't of the monsters, or the music, but of the crimson. As a whole. And that is fear. (Edit): Just beat moon lord! What an awesome game honestly. If you haven't yet, please play it. It is more than just another survival game.

1:32 and beyond is (in my opinion) the true theme of the crimson, and the best part by far.

I still remember one of my earliest experiences with the Crimson. I was out caving pretty early in the game, and I ended up jumping down into an open cavern that was pretty big that I hadn't been to yet. Only then did I realize that I was out of torches, and I didn't realize that apparently it bordered right on the Crimson, so I'm in complete darkness, trying frantically to sort through the crafting menu to craft more torches while also trying to figure out where everything even was, and then I hear one of those fucking face monsters snarl at me. I was so damn scared, especially since I didn't know what made that noise yet. I don't remember what happened next, but I remember the feeling. 💀

0:01 feels like the uncertainty of entering a new area. You don’t know what to expect, and it’s all new and unsettling to you. 0:45 feels like the slow realization of what this place is. Why is everything so fleshy? Why are there teeth everywhere? Why is there not a single passive creature in this world? What have I gotten myself into?

0:20 at this point i would listen the face monster growl so many times, that i can't unhear it

The face monster in that biome is the reason I have nightmares

The Corruption music is nowhere near as unsettling as this music is... jeez...

quarantine is over, and we finally get to go outside. this starts to play.

Honestly the Crimson is full on terrifying. I thought the Corruption was bad; the horrific mutated monsters struck fear into my heart as a child and disturb me to this day, but the Crimson is on another level. When I had almost all of my experience with the Crimson, I was too young to understand how horrifying it is, I thought the Corruption was worse. It’s only now that I rethink my opinions on this, the Crimson is a nightmare. The monsters are deformed and horrible, the music, despite having some really cool moments is creepy as fuck, and the backgrounds with their tattered fleshy trees fit the biome perfectly. The Corruption is bad enough, but the Crimson is clearly the far scarier biome.

There's only one problem, "HERPLINGS"

I think that the crimson was made to give an impression of living blood, flesh and repulsion, while corruption causes an impression of stench, putrefaction and anguish

I remember my very first play through of terraria and i decided to play crimson without any knowledge of what is was going to be like, and when i first heard the start of the soundtrack it was so scary, and still is.

I legitimately feel like I’m fighting Scp-610 when I enter the Crimson or try to prevent its spread .

RE - LOGIC has done a great job with this song and te crimson biome, my friend has even told me that no music has creeped him out as much as this one, and he has played a lot of video games!

It's obvious to notice the enormous skeleton in the background. A skeleton totally devoid of any flesh of meat. Whatever the enormous beast was, it was right here before something - perhaps a disease, or some monster much worse than it - killed it. The beast's own dead remains seemed to leach into the fertile ground, almost like some kind seed being planted. The area that may have once been beautiful is now utterly disgusting and horrifying. Blood soaks the ground, making every step squish beneath your boots. The trees are a red color, but not like the lovely red of Autumn, but a red like some person's internal organs having been scraped out and onto dead branches. Any monsters in the area have been taken by this horror too. And, deep underground, another monster lurks, the cause of this crimson terror. The one part of the monster that had refused to die, even after creating the evil that plagues your world, and is slowly spreading. Just be sure to stay away from the hearts beneath the crimstone.

1:32 sounds so dramatic and epic, whilst the first half of the track sounds like what you'd expect crimson music to sound like.

I've had the evil biome in my first world randomized and it picked the Crimson. And I was unlucky enough that one of the infested parts was about three screens away from my spawn. As a new player, I've gotta say it legit scared the crap out of me when I saw it spread extremely close

A biome made of human flesh and organs. Cool

Imagine the very ground you walk on tries to grab you with fleshy tendrils as it tries to absorb you, thr cave entrances are gaping maws with gnashing teeth that bite down should you try and descend into the underground. The whole land itself would lurch and crawl as it feels your presence.

The atmosphere in this Biome is incredible especially in the underground

I remember years ago when I had a world with corruption and my brother had one with crimson. He joined my world for about an hour and little did I know, he burried crimson blocks far from my house. One day I was going to my jungle and started hearing this music.

On my first day of playing terraria, I was wandering through the ice biome. “Oh look, red ice! That would look cool as decoration!”. I go to mine it and then I hear the scraping sounds and the background changes and I literally had to stop myself turning off the console lol.

When I first started I thought this was a candy biome until I saw the underground....

i like to imagine the terrain of the crimson itself is sentient. its a completely organic mess of flesh and bone hungry for comsuming everything in its path. while the corruption spreads as if infecting each block, the crimson GROWS itself

I'll never forget the first time I encountered the Crimson. It wasn't long since it was introduced, and I wasn't even aware of its existence, or even the update, so when I explored a new world, I was *legitimately fucking spooked,* all the fleshy graphics, deformed creatures, all the bones and eyeballs in the background, it all looked like one of those super cheesy videogame creepypastas, and while it was hilarious in that sense, it still felt incredibly unsafe.

I'm gonna hate this place 5 seconds later . so beautiful , where's my building stuff!

In stark contrast to the death and decay of the Corruption, the Crimson, strangely enough, represents life. Or, at least, a twisted version of it. The whole biome is a living, intelligent creature, seeking to make everything a part of it. Trees become like bone, grass turns red, water is tainted by blood, massive bone ribs pierce the ground, rising high into the sky, even the clouds above are not left untouched by it's ambition.
