I love how, even though the biome is dangerous, and at times quite intimidating, the music and the background kind of make it seem like it's just some kind of Halloween land. It sort of gives off the sense of being "spooky", and then suddenly jumping into real fear.

Like 6 years ago I started playing Terraria and on my first world there was corruption next to my spawn, I stopped playing right there because I thought the whole game was like that, I never came back.

At least the crimson chasms warn you by making themselves look like evil monster heads and you can walk down them like stairs, the corruption chasms are like "hello! would you like to fall down a pit and die?"

The crimson choosing where to spawn: near jungle, in the jungle or being the next biome near spawn point. Most of the time being medium to really large sized. Being harder in comparison to the corruption, having better drops pre-hardmode and being mediocre in hardmode(not bad, but not great). The corruption choosing where to spawn: snow biome, its own thing, or anywhere near the ends of a world preferentially in a desert creating a natural corrupt desert biome.Mostly small sized and sometimes in between small and medium sized, have drops that suck pre-hardmode and is great in hardmode(cursed flames, used to create a bunch of usefull stuff and whats probably the best torch in the game) deals higher dps when used as an ammo subvar. or its own magic book thingy.

I think the crimson is scarier than the corruption. I would prefer to have the corruption in my world, not only because I find it less scary, but also because, in my opinion, the boss is easier to kill.

My first ever world in Terraria had crimson RIGHT next to my spawn point on the right-hand side. It was about 2 screen lengths away from my starting point, which is unusually close. I never knew this and kept playing as I thought it was how the game was meant to be played. The Crimson was terrifying (the music, the atmosphere, the blood) and fairly difficult for most of the early game. Then after many hours on that world/character and defeating the Moon Lord, I loaded up a second world with Corruption. My very first thought was how comfortable the Corruption was compared to the Crimson, lmao.

I actually think the concept of the corruption is really cool because it’s kinda creepy to imagine an evil cancer; fueled by Sin that spreads through the land and deforms all life it takes over. And the music is very fitting.

Your walking through a nice jungle that contains luxurious trees and beautiful grass, slowly it turns purplish and weird, but not thinking much of it. You traverse deeper, the more you travel, the more it gets more, "purple" and weird and then finally the theme plays. The corrupted creatures go against you, but you refuse and persevere, you feel a chill through your spine until the song changes its mood from scary, eerie music to spooky, funky music. You were about to get out but then you go back in to defeat the very monsters trapped within. The corrupted grow restless, and you grow glorious with each and every kill. But then... *"Screams echo around you..."* Scared and confused, you stay still in shock as you see the big, no, humongous, no, GARGANTUAN worm SHOOTING towards you, you quickly take out your sword and kill it. And you quickly exit the corruption in fear of another boss coming in... But as you mine your way out you find altars, normal you think but as you mine the altars... *"You feel vibrations from deep below..."* You rush to the purity but, its too late. It already reached you and well, let's just save you the gore and blood but you, you were beyond dead.

My first playthrough on terraria I used crimson but I was so scared I hid in a hole under the crimson chopping trees, now I usually play on corruption and the songs are BANGERS

When I started playing Terraria 2 months ago (yes I know, took me long enough) I had basically no knowledge of the game, just that it was filled with multiple bosses and overall more danger than Minecraft. I started exploring, went through a desert, then I found the corruption. I only saw a few purple blocks and immediately thought "Yeah I probably shouldn't be here yet" and the eater of souls confirmed it

My thinking of why there's those deep vertical tunnels in the corruption is that it's from all the worms burrowing. I mean it doesn't seem like a big pitfall would naturally occur.

The world of Terraria has many sights to behold, beautiful or bone chilling. The Corruption feels like... neither. It feels so empty yet so, alive. It’s a strange sensation to walk through those purple wastes. The air turns a misty, sickly violet. The whole place feels eerie. The trees grow tall and hardy, and yet are filled with rot and decay. The grass feels dead, yet it feels so alive. Like it’s trying to grab onto you. The Soul Eaters on the surface drift and float mindlessly until they locate prey. They charge fast and suddenly. However, they are weak and with the proper gear can be taken out with one or two well placed strikes. The surface of this biome might be a bit unsettling but it’s nothing compared to what rests below it. The large chasms in the middle of the biome lead into a whole different world. The air in the caves feels heavy, it smells of rotten flesh and it starts to mess with your mind. Whispering voices and distant screams echo through your head. I had enough will to push on deeper into the Corruption though. No matter how hard it tried to influence me. I came across some sort of pedestals within the corrupted depths. Tables of rotten flesh and bone. Demon Altars, as they are named. Used by demons and cultists to create horrors unimaginable. I cannot tell weather these altars are natural creations from the Corruption or created by the beings that use them. The occasional fight with the more aggressive Soul Eaters in the caverns halted my progress. Not just by fighting but by the wounds they inflict. Infection sets in almost immediately upon a bite and the rot sets in almost as fast. Tending my infections while hearing and feeling the tremors of the Devourers digging the stone around me was a chilling experience. I’m thankful I’ve never witnessed one of those gargantuan worms. The deeper I went into the underground the louder the voices became. Until suddenly, they stopped. I had run into a Shadow Orb. A large purple pearl of sorts. It hovered just above the cavern floor and emitted a soft purple glow. It was so... enticing. Yet when I came close to it. The whispering turned to screaming and my head started to pound. I wanted to shatter the orb to make it stop but I couldn’t bring myself to. Something prevented me from doing so. By now I had no doubts in my mind that these orbs are the heart of this terrible place. So I eventually scaled my way out of the chasms. Even the eerie surface of the Corruption seemed inviting compared to it’s monstrous underground. I made my way out of the place and back to my tent with relative ease. Though after thinking on it the Corruption is more sinister than I once thought. It’s not just an eerie purple wasteland. It’s a plague. An infection on the world. It’s existence is to spread and leave rot and decay in its wake and by no means is it natural. It must have been created by an evil I cannot even fathom. The Crimson May be a hive mind but at least the creatures and people taken by that thing have a purpose, or will. The Soul Eaters have nothing. Whatever they once were has been changed into a mindless beast. You don’t become a servant. You become a slave to the darkness. Any traveler such as myself should heed this warning. Stay in the light. For if you tread into the shadow for too long you will succumb to it’s will. For you will succumb to the plague. Stay out of the Corruption.

I always found this music much more happy and upbeat compared to the crimson alternative, but then it changes... But with the biome itself it was much easier than the crimson, especially the boss, but much harder to cross!
