# Malec If you're as afraid of it as Alec was in the books, I don't doubt that you'd tell the girl "Never say that again".....First of all, Alec "was in love" with his parabatai, which is a no no, second, he lived in the institute with his family who knew nothing about his sexual orientation and whom he was terrified of telling and third, the clave are prejudiced against gay shadowhunters, so I think his response was "likely" for his situation..

I don't think Alec is as bothered by the fact that he's gay as much as he's bothered or insecure by the fact that he thinks he's in love with Jace. Of course, Alec isn't all "Yay, I'm gay!" but i think what throws him off the most are the feelings he thinks he has for Jace. Notice how he doesn't even deny the fact that he's gay but instead is more concerned about the fact that someone could know he other secret, which is being in love with Jace.

+Kamal Kamal later on when Alec comes out we see that homophobia is actually not a very big part of why Robert and Maryse disapprove, whereas in the books the Clave is painted as massively homophobic. In the show Alec would not be so sensitive about his feelings for Jace because the stigma for gay people is much less. You can imagine why in the books Alec acted far more drastically.

Ugh sometimes I think that the actor who plays Jace and the actor who plays Alec should switch. These two above have so much more chemistry, it's apparent. Thankyouuuuuuu! I've never read the books or seen the show. I saw a little bit of it today, and much to my disappointment, I see Alec is not the lead!??? Who cast this show anyways??? Jace is sooooo bland!! Everybody knows the good girl always goes with the bad (yet good) guy, who happens to be the lead's friend/ deadbeat brother or something. It's a formula that works in every story from the beginning of time. If it ain't broke....know what i mean? Fix it show runners!!! This show has such potential if they play off the chemistry between Clary and Alec. It's clear as day for heavens's sake!

I think that Alec's reaction is funny but very unlike him. The last time he thought that someone could figure out that he's gay, he unleashed a demon because he was so afraid. And now he's just like "no YOU are in love with Jace?". I read the books and I just feel like he would panic and deny it if someone talked so openly about it. Especially if this someone is Clary since he doesn't like her (at least not yet) or trust her.

Senta Keller I think tadashisnotonfire was being really sarcastic there because Malec fandom is basically allergic to Alec being shipped with Clary--or girls, in that matter. If not, however, I don't really have much to say,, I'm not arguing over this lol. I didn't ship Clary with Alec in the book, but they have so much chemistry in the show, even more than Jace and Clary--more than I'd like to admit. So, there's that. It's not a matter of shaming preferred sexuality, it's about chemistry, man. No one is against nothing here.

I kinda like Clary the least cause she acts like her life is now so terrible bc her mother lied to her, but in reality she had a pretty good life. Unlike Jace, Alec, Isabelle or Simon, she didn't have to grow up training to be a hardened warrior, or watch a parent die, have a cheating dad or have a someone you love think of her as just a friend.

Sigh. In every comment section there are people who can't seem to figure out that not all chemistry is sexual or romantic. These two are very good actors who play off of each other very well, thus giving them chemistry as actors. There is nothing sexual or remotely romantic about it though. Alec hates Clary and looks as though he wants to kill her every time he looks at her. HOW IS THAT REMOTELY ROMANTIC?!? Geez.

Am I the only one that whenever a character is in public talking on the phone wonders what the people around them are thinking? Like, the people around Simon are probably either not listening or so confused because they hear the words “you killed a WHAT”, and, “don’t you think people are watching that place”. If I were them I’d think his friend was a murderer running away somewhere!

Clary knew Alec had feelings for Jace, even Izzy suspected something. He literally has the word GAY, written all over his face. Even a blind man could see it😂 Magnus knew he was gay hence why he was trying to get him to embrace it. Even Alec himself knew. He was just too afraid to admit it cause he knew the minute it became real, then his whole world would change. Those feelings were new to him and he didn't know how to react to them. It's understandable. I’m just glad Magnus came along and just made him a more fun person and to stop taking things so seriously. Even though they have grown alot together, Alec is still the only rational thinking one. He will always be my favorite character, besides Magnus. Shadowhunters will live on forever.😭😭😭💔💔💔❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

one thing that i didnt fully get was that if the invisibility rune didn't silence the rune, would it silence their voices too? i havent read the books so i dont know how it works entirely. but if it didnt silence their voices then would people just randomly hear a conversation walking by and think it was ghosts?? LMAO
