+Yaryna The wig was for more of a dramatic effect for her lustrous black hair. Think of it as a hat, one Isabelle chose because she's her, and we know how she is about look. Besides, Lightwoods are well known for there looks, and those demons were clearly clueless (thank goodness), but Isabelle had to stay quiet and concealed sense she was bait to lure the other demons away from Jace. She couldn't take any chances if they knew who she was, those are her brothers she had to protect. When she removed the wig, she was preparing herself. Miss Izzy knows when her surroundings are safe before she fights. It was like Izzy in the movie when she hid her runes from that demon; she hid her true self.

Maybe they'd recognise her as Isabelle Lightwood. The Lightwoods are a prominent Shadowhunters family and she may need a decent disguise.

Cuz in the books it always talks about how home girl izzy looks identical to her mother when she was young, and everyone knows her Isabelle's mother. But Alec doesn't look like his dad which is why she isn't in a costume. Also it makes her seem badass AF

Emeraude said at Comic Con that Isabelle "has characters" or at least something along those lines, so in the TV show she must just have a thing for disguises of sorts. Also it's probably the first time she'll be seen in the show and they want to add impact to her revealing her hotness and that amazing hair. It makes the reveal very wham bam thank you ma'am.

They are mixing the prequel (Infernal Devices) with the main series (Mortal Instruments) which is why those dudes in black (When Magnus approached and said 'Circle members are banned...") appeared. They are going with a different approach in the sense that they are converting Simon way earlier (to introduce the Vampire arc story, which is why they already have like an actress for Camille Belcourt) and introduced the existence of Shapeshifting (To maybe further explain why Theresa exists). I guess it's just a matter giving it a chance although not perfect they are at least trying to portray in a series such a good book series.

I'm really excited for this tv series but all the criticism that is being received is making my VERY nervous and more worried than I want to be excited. I just want everyone who love and knows the books that we got a MOVIE and TV SERIES, very rarely does a book series even get one of these adaptions let a lone both forms of media. So just remember to also be appreciative of the series even if you criticize it.

I reckon people will love it. New shows always take a bit to find their groove, people have to remember that this was filmed somewhere within their first 11 days on set. There's so many pilots of shows that I've watched again years later only to realise how much everyone and everything has improved. For the record I'm pegging it as being the new addition to the Vampire Diaries/ Pretty Little Liars/ Teen Wolf club.

Except Kat's, I think everybody's acting was on point! Loved Magnus and Simon the most. But I guess as the show progresses Kat will start to grow on people. Though I wish they'd make her hair darker and less orangey in season 2.

From my view, girls who have "naturally" bright orange hair like Kats at the moment, usually don't have thick hair. People with ginger hair usually have thin, curly/wiry hair and it's not usually that thick. That's part of what made it look fake. I liked Lilly's hair better as it was a more common, less vibrant "out there" colour. It was close to my hair colour also, and I've never dyed my hair.

Clary may have fiery red ginger hair, but that hair colour is pretty rare, and nearly impossible to replicate without making it look fake. I just think they've stuffed everything up already. Casting, acting, effects, wardrobe, story line. Etc.

+beatywithindiagrace O7 no one naturally has the colour of Lily's hair(yours is brown with a under tone of golden) trust in me, I am a stylist.. Kat's hair is her natural hair colour, and it's not very thick.. It's just covered in barrel curls to give it body. But as for the show, I don't see why your so against it.. The movie was straight up garbage.(I'm a huge fan of the books) The movie acting was painful to watch & I was honestly was dumbfounded to find out Jamily was a couple.. Their onscreen romance made me full on cringe.

Almost every pilot that has to do with supernatural characters is always bad interest beginning. Vampire diaries was a book turned series and its done so well. Even has a spin off. I wish more people thought like you .-. If only people would give this a chance and think about where this could lead us!

All pilots are odd in the beginning. It allows the writers to know and adjust to the characters. However, they'll improve. To me, everything was good until that fight. It was like they were bleeding cheese. They should've pulled a TW and bled them with black; it would've been less out of touched and more believable. Although this was early production and the cast have become more of the characters since then and different directors come as well, so there is that change. We'll get a different vision for future episodes. PS. Harry as Magnus, oh my goodness, i felt that Magnus was finally did justice. He pulled him off wonderfully. There was a moment I was pulled out and he pulled me right back in. Oh, Magnus, you scoundrel. And also, i cannot wait for those two goons to die. I mean really, who wears shades in a night club? Dark...black...shades. The people Valentine consorts with. If i was Magnus i would've broke his neck right there.

+codymanable I remember watching teen wolf and the flash for the first time and I thought the acting was horrible and also the effects but it was only for the first few episodes and the story line definitely gets more interesting and the acting gets better. At first I couldn't understand what the hype was all about in teen wolf but now i know :)

+92Stena You're right, everyone involved in any form of show takes a bit to work out what they're doing, this would have all been filmed during the first 11 days of filming, they hadn't had that long yet to discover their characters and develop chemistry yet. Also what they will be doing is watching very closely how we all react to these clips then they'll tweak things to make them better. MCG said in an interview that they're still working on the pilot.

Glad they're actually going to acknowledge the fact that Jace and Alec are parabatai. Harry and Matt, from what we've seen, are going to be an amazing fit for Magnus and Alec. It seems like the show is taking more care to explore the characters and relationships, and I am so looking forward to that!

Actually, they are not prettier than or etc. Emeraude have strong looks and this appeal and intimidation that you can feel from Isabelle (CAN YOU FEEL IT). And it doesn't really matter if she's tall or not, I don't think Isabelle's height was mentioned in the book and Isabelle always wear high heels anyway. (and stop with the height shaming !!) ^^

yAsMiN EXACTLY. If you compare Isabelle here and Isabelle on the movies, it's totally different. Isabelle here is much more like the book than the Isabelle in the movie. Isabelle in the movie was tomboyish and wasn't really badass and girly like Isabelle here.

+Alfea A Well this is the ABC Family channel. Budget-wise, it's going to be a bit lower and less gritty to appeal to the family friendly demographic. You can tell by the lighting being brighter and the tone of the show not being too dark. I'm pretty sure they'll put this during the primetime hours between 7-8 p.m.

Stop, stop, now! We got TWO CASTS! Movie and TV-series. Stop complaining about how they changed the books. They had to. They ALSO HAD TO CHANGE THE MOVIE. They can't have same scenes or same cast or same outfits or same anything. You should be happy. Do you know the pain in Percy Jackson fandom? The movies (We got 2) flopped. Oh, they were so much worse than City of Bones movie. They were so bad. In Percy Jackson fandom we would be just THANKFUL for another chance. So be it. in my opinion they didn't have to change the tv show so much. Practically nothing is true to the book and the only reason we wanted the TV show was was because the movie wasn't very true to the book. I get that this wouldn't be completely true but fans do deserve to get angry about it because this is their favourite book series and its not true to the book. anyway I respect your opinion so you should respect other people's opinions on the TV show. if they don't like it they don't like it so yea.

Well it's a pilot so obviously, work is still needed but damn, I'm so waiting for it now!! I love Simon (seriously, cute actor and just the way is calling for Clary makes me happy!) As for Clary, she changed a lot compared to the book? Not in a bad way, I mean, she's a total nerd in the books and she's trying to be a bit more "sexier". Trying to blend in. (but she's not usually) But well, I mean, Kat is obviously looking nicely for Clary and a pilot won't answer all our worries so whatever. Magnus did a great job! Even better than a book, I always wonder why Magnus wasn't doing much more in the books, he's a High Warlock, can't he just kill everyone in one blink of an eye ? So I like it that way! Damn, Jace. Damn Alec. You guys are cute and well, I guess, we'll have to wait to see more of those two! ATM I like how Jace actually look surprised about Clary seeing them (if they kept the glamour? I guess.) The fx area bit odd but still, that's a pilot so they surely didn't put everything into here. And the best for the last, you go Izzy! She's freaking sexy, and if they're all around 18 (more for Alec actually) she's doing a great job! Everyone is complaining about the wig, but I guess we'll see more in the actual episode ? Because I mean. It's a bit weird but at the same time, in this scene she's supposed to look like an angel and lure the demon to her so yeah. Just saying. Great job anyway! LOVE THE OST ?? Strange to think 3 or so years ago most people didn't like the show (granted S1 wasn't the best) and now we are trying to save the show by buying planes and billboards

I'm usually not one for complaining since I'm open to multiple interpretations and I always keep book and TV/movie adaptations separate, no matter how similar they're purported to be, but I can understand why fans have some concerns about the show. Personally, I will withhold judgment until the show begins airing. Apart from Alec/Matthew and Magnus/Harry, who I actually had some reservations about, the rest need work. But the thing that bothered me most was how over-sexualized Izzy is. I love that book-Izzy is sexy and confident in her sexiness but that's the thing: because she's so confident, she doesn't have to try so hard. She wields her sex appeal like a weapon but she never comes across cheap or trashy, always tasteful and classy. So I hope that whoever's directing Emeraude to portray Izzy in THIS fashion will scale it down a bit. Movie-Izzy was perhaps a little TOO toned down and maybe that's what they're trying to rectify but I think they went overboard.

TheDanielyob Yes, which I said Izzy does [verbatim] and does well. However, all of THIS could've been done a lot more tastefully. They went for the cheap and obvious and I think Emeraude deserves better than that, especially since she's so proud of playing a sexually empowered character.

De Quincey Glad that someone understands the point I'm trying to make. There's nothing wrong with being sexy, I just think that they went about it in a too-obvious, cheap, stereotypical way and I think both the character and the actress deserve better. And from the other clips I've seen, it seems like this is a continuous trend. But like you said, hopefully she comes across as smart too.

PILOTS ARE ALMOST ALWAYS BAD Let them put out at least 5 episodes and then you can run your mouth about how bad the show is or how bad the actors are. Seriously does anyone remember how completely annoying and awful Caroline Forbes was in the pilot for the vampire diaries?!!?!

You all need to accept that they will change things from the book, deal with it. Also this is not the finish product they just put something real quick for NYCC they have a lot of time to finish everything. Last, stop being so negative about everything these guys work really hard you don't have to be so rude to the actors and the crew to say your opinion. And to all the annoying movie fans go watch the movie and stop being annoying, this is a new cast, a new adaptation deal with it OR LEAVE.

Anything that gets the magnificent Magnus on the show earlier is fine in my book. Side note: they also may have gone with the girl over the guy because they did the guy in the movie and it's highly likely that they'll be trying to do their own thing rather than rehash that part of the movie (even though it's in the book).

They may be introducing her early on and then have a big reveal the next season (if there is one) that she's a werewolf or something idk. I think it's really cool how they made Magnus the owner of Pandemonium Club and that Clary runs into him without knowing who he actually is. Most of it look quite great! I love the cast and I am so excited!

All you dislikers need to stop being so butthurt. Speaking as a fan, the movie sucked. Cast was pretty good, but movie sucked. So I am all for a fresh start! It doesn't need to be exactly like the books as long as the main plot points are there. Harry's acting is the best so far and boy does Matthew look good in his Shadowhunter outfit!!! I can't wait for January!

+Nicole Veuthey Oyarzo She's one of those added changes. She's Simon's girlfriend, but I'm sure it's a fleeting romance because Simon is in love with Clary. Television is a open area, so try to embrace the change. Remember, Mareen a HUGE Simon fan. So her riding along is not really a far fetch tale from how she is in the book. In the books, she was like a moth to a flame with Simon, so it's nice. Also, seeing some more of the other characters earlier feels better and fresh. And deep down, we sort of want a little change here and there. I cannot tell you how much lovely fan fiction is written about these books. Remember they will follow the books, have hope. But they will fill in all that stuff that happened behind the scenes we've only guested about. We can see more, where unlike the books all was written merely in dialogue. Remember, these are the fans beloved characters, so think of as them as here to make you happy. I know I am, because the movie didn't. I'm reading the books again and all i see is this cast, and i like that very much.

Actually I like it too because I know Cassie was there and she approved every single change they made and I just love the idea of see those perfects books coming to life. Just like Teen Wolf, Vampire Diaries, Pretty Little Liars and all teen dramas that were thought to fell succeeded. This is no different. The absolute best scene of the entire series and what got me hooked into watching the entire series. Epic show and definitely a loss to all of us Sci Fi fans to lose another season of this great series. Definitely going to my top faves of all times. Me being a competitive saber fencer and the love of all supernatural, I'll definitely be missing this show. Glad I stumbled on it. Finally a great series that's well produced, acted, and directed.

First of all, you guys do realize this a TV adaptation, NOT a lets copy every single detail of the book and put in a TV show.The whole point of any adapation is to get the essence of the story that's being told.They are still doing that in the show. It is not possible for everything to match from the books. This TV show isn't just for the fans of thhe books, its also a show for people who haven't read any of the book. So they have to keep viewers interested through out every episode, so they are going to have to change things in order to do that. People are saying that its nothing like the books and that not true because they have the whole set correct and all the characters are their but its just not going be exactly like the books. This is just an adaption not copy. Second, everyone that is saying that the special effects look lame or dump or cheesy. They are NOT done editing the show yet, they are still working on the special effects. The special effects you are seeing is just place holders for right now.The special effects will be better when the how airs. Third, for people saying that there acting is not good. they still working on the audio of the show. I understand that the way there are talking doesn't sound the most natural its because they are still working on the audio. These clips and trailers that you have seen are all rough edits of the show. I personally love the books and can't wait to watch the show play out no matter how much it changes because I know that will happen because it has to. To all of the fans of the books, this is our last chance to see these books adapted on to screen, and if this doesn't do well then we probably won't get another chance to ever seen these books translated on screen. If the TV show doesn't match exactly how you wanted it to then you always have the books to go back to. Try to look at the TV show and books seprately and try to enjoy both. So can we please stop complaining about little things and just enjoy it for what it is. If any of you loved and enjoyed the books I would at least give the show a chance before you shoot it down.

For those who are complaining about it not being exact. Does anyone even remember that Pretty Little Liars was also a book adaptation?? How long did it take before they couldn't follow the story line due to all the spoilers and expectations?? They can't do it word for word, that would honestly take decades to put into a TV series! You have to adapt to keep things interesting which is why it is called an adaptation. Those of us who have read the books obviously know what is going to happen, so they are trying to make it the same story told a different way. Pretty little liars started out very true to story, then started branching off and had to change the reveal because of spoilers. I got bored with PLL but it is a book series turned TV series so I figured it was worth while to relate it to TMI. I think it's great we're getting a new story rather than rehashing the same one. No director will ever get it right for you because it was your own imagination, have an open mind to his idea of the story and just enjoy seeing our fav characters portrayed by real people. If you want the book story line, reread the books.

I LOVE IT. I know some nitpicky pickers say Kat is a terrible Clary, but no. She captures all the feelings I think Clary wouldve had if things played out this way. Innocent, curious. Her dialogue is a little forced in,her first line when Jace bumps into her, but hey, she is hotheaded and confrontive and she obv just noticed a hot dude xD I can relate. Simon might as well say Simon Says cause I can already sense the humor in that one even tho he only had a few lines. Maureen seems cool, I can dig. OK, MAGNUS WAS MAGNIFICENT. I squealed when I saw him looking all bored and fabulous. Harry plays him so well! Cat eyes! His dialogue is so intriguing! As for our shadowhunters, I love them too! Izzy is so magnetic! She slays it! Alec looks so great and broody! And don't get me stated on Jace! He was so concerned and stoic! Oh I'm so excited and I now my response is uper positive but I just think this show deserves recognition (DESERVES) because it's great and if nobody can see that... l

I'm so excited! Unlike popular opinion I actually like that they are changing things up. I love how all the characters look similar to the descriptions. The acting could improve and the special effects could be better, but I know this is not the finished product and it will take the actors a few episodes to really get into their roles. Also I love how I'm seeing a lot more support and appreciation for the people who are working on this. There are still a lot of people whining, but I have definitely seen more positive responses than negative ones.

I agree with you 100% on everything, actors always take a couple of episodes at least to find their groove. Also, I agree I think it's great they're changing things, if they left everything exactly the same as in the books; first there would be nothing new for everyone that's already read them; second although Cassie's writing is amazing it would have holes going straight to a show, they need to add characters and subplots etc to add some meat to the story, mainly because the books are from Clary's POV where as the show has to be from everyone's. (Sorry to write an essay in reply, I get a little more into this whole world than I probably should... Haha!)

I love Magnus and Alec. They fit so well. And from the interviews you can really see that Harry Shum understands his character very well which is important for acting in a convincing way. I like Izzy and Simon too. Only Jace isn't quite what I expected but it's never the case that everyone can be pleased with every character. I feel like Alec is the only one everyone loves so far because he is so hot :D

I haven't watched a lot of the interviews with the cast (I probably should!) but Magnus is a really hard character to really play well, same with Jace. Like Godrey Gao was great for Magnus looks-wise, but I really didn't like the way he played Magnus...I just hope Harry Shum can play the sort of playful/eccentric side of Magnus

Magnus is finally perfect, Harry is killing, so was Dominic as Jace. Guys the cast just finish shooting the series, MCG, the editors, and the showrunner aren't, they still have to edit the show, this was just a clip for fans to see. They'll be another trailer that's 10x better, and more clips by November/December just chill out.

Keep in mind that it's not finished and appreciate the fact that we got to see all the hard work the cast and crew have put into it so far to make it look this good for something still in the works. I was really skeptical about the show when I watched the first few episodes. However, I wasn't disappointed as the season progressed. Matthew Daddario playing Alec Lightwood and Harry Shum Jr. playing Magnus Bane was the perfect decision (because I think MALEC was executed so well). The cast is also incredibly lovable. When you go on and watch some of their interviews and funny moments, you get the idea that they're just one big, happy family and that's so nice to see. I can't wait for season 02. Season 01 was simply the beginning :3 I hope that all the negativity surrounding the adaptation soon dissipates because honestly, the show isn't like the books at all. WHICH, I might add is a really good thing. If it followed the books, we wouldn't be seeing so much of Malec and we wouldn't actually see the other characters and their development. We're exploring new places and trying out new things with the adaptation and that's just wonderful. I'd pick the tv show over the movies anyday. With that being said, I hope season 02 gets here soon. I really can't wait to watch more >w

I am LOVING Pandemonium. It has the PERFECT feel to it, the club music was PERFECT. And I really liked the way that the demons disappeared, however, Magnus's magic just looked stupid and Izzy's whip. I hope that's just the rough cut. but I'm just happy that we're getting a show.

After the trailer was released I was extremely worried...But now, after seeing this, I am actually excited! It won't be the same as the book (I accept that) but I am still looking forward to the story coming to life. The acting was good for me. Not great, but good for a pilot. I am loving Harry as Magnus. He brings just the right amount of class and humour mixed with power. The fighting was cool as well. They should work on the blood and special effects a bit more in my opinion

I'm really excited for this to happen!!! I always thought TMI should rather be a tv show, the story is just way to complex to tell in a movie without editing out all the good stuff. Love the cast, can't wait!

I love how this is similar to what happened in the book, and yet different enough that watching the show will always keep the audience guessing and intrigued.

Omg I had my doubts about Harry playing Magnus but he's doing it well. I still don't like Clary, but I never liked the character anyways. Hoping to see some Malec in the show

The only thing I don't understand is why neither Isabelle nor Jace seem to have many runes on them. I mean Isabelle's skin seems completely unmarked!

One thing that makes the acting looks weird is I think the voices: It feels like they are not anchored in the picture, if that makes sense. Like they've been recorded after and added over the extract. It's probably just a consequence of the fact that's it's a sneak peek. Quality will be met by January I'm convinced of that.

That's one of the few changes I am sad about too. I guess in that way Jace can see that Clary doesn't have just the Sight because the seraph blades only work on Shadowhunters. Maybe it's not bad in the end, we'll see. They have their reasons for changing it.

B Win I am sure it'll be better than the movie. The movie was really bad and they will have very much Malec in the show as far as I can tell, so it can't be that bad in my opinion.

I cannot wait I am so excited! At first I just wanted to watch any Malec scenes but now I want to watch all of it when it comes out! :) ah Malec as in Magnus Bane The Magnificent High Warlock of Brooklyn and Alec the most adorable Shadowhunter there is! I'm so happy its coming soon!

After watching it a couple of times, I realized that the seraph blades don't light up the same way.....what happened to saying the name of an angel to get it to work? Isn't that why only Shadowhunters can use them in the first place?

+Nandana J I think they just simplified it, so that basically if you have shadowhunter blood the blade will work for you, if you don't then it doesn't. Notice how Clary picks up the sword and it lights up and Jace gives her this look like he notices this. I personally think shouting out angel names will look super cheesy on screen...
