Villainous isn't really the right term in describing her motives, afterall most of the geniuses are like that.

​@@idontspeakjapanese6289i certainly think villainous is the right word. She's sociopathic and fake doesn't care about anything or anyone else except her own research. She legit keeps subjects and torments them to the point they kill themselves. She feeds them abundance fruit so they don't die until she finishes her research, she sees them as "mistakes" has no regard for us or anyone else as she drugged the trailblazer manipulated them and forced them to clean up the mess she made. She wants to become an Aeon and she'll do anything to fulfill her goal without thinking of anyone else's feelings or life. She's twisted in the head. Dont get me wrong I absolutely love the way they wrote her I love how not everyone in this game is a goody two shoes and actually does morally grey things. Just because she's a bad person doesn't make her a bad character and I certainly see that. I still most definitely think villainous is the right word to describe her

I ended up Pitying Ruan Mei because it's clear she's not inherently malicious but is really reckless with her experiments.

She is too focused about her experiment and research so much that she can't even trust other people to do it for her as she see life differently than the majorities, she even cant differentiate which love is a spiritual, a familial and a romantic one And she is so isolated that even at trailblazer she was hesitant to put her trust, because in her perception bringing other people will only coloured her researches. She only bring us because she know we can defeat her "headache" In the seclusion zone. After finishing her quest, i highly assure that in the future we wouldnt fight her directly at the moment but to defeat her malicious result of her experiment until in the end there is someone or us that can realizing her confusion. I know ruan mei isnt a bad person, its just only the way she think is quite troublesome and has a potential to become a villainess, which it was our chance to "fix" Her :v

I really like how all of her trailer showing her as a gorgeous, beautiful and modest woman lmao. after finishing the quest, its all just feels really out of character for me.

And compared to the other members of the Genius Society, Herta, Screwlum and Ruan Mei are saints hahaha

Emi Lo is also the En voice of Lucy from Edgerunners, so I kinda expected the moaning part but imagine Emi doing it to Columbina LMAO, can't imagine the amount of simps that will flock to Columbina if she starts moaning as well

No one mentioned it but another anime that came out this year one of my favorites is The Apothecary Diaries where she voiced the Dark Green-haired Apothecary Miss MaoMao herself. I like to think Ruan is MaoMao but if she was more Mature. And another fun fact: she also likes to cosplay the roles she gets. Example: Since you mentioned Lucy, She cosplayed her around the time Edgerunners came out. She also cosplayed MaoMao this year.

Probably should keep Welt away from her given she might end up clued into it if she meets him given he’s from the Honkai Impact universe

Not much in the "Mad" Scientist part more Reckless. Can't help but Pity her really. She's emotionally apathetic with deep Trust issues. She's not inherently evil but she's clearly reckless. Everyone marvels at her Brillance but no one seems to see the the inner flaws within her. She's the kind of character that needs someone to keep her in check. But aside from trailblazer there's no one to reliably do that.

I find curious about no man's land she describe, in future we will be in that place someday but that will be long. Can't wait for her newest continue story in no man's land or another genius member gathering again which stephen might be come.

Ei's problem is that she is a shut in who trust other people and her puppet too much. There is no teehee in this but your own projection. And Ruan Mei isn't exactly evil, but she is a mad scientist. Who don't even properly understand what love and its varities are.

@@rpk321 yeah this is one common misconception about ei she more childish in a way so she kinda make a lot of bad decision

Ei is not stupid honestly, just very socially inept, which was exacerbated by her grief and by shutting herself away for 500 years. Someone who creates puppets can't be stupid. Also she did make up for her mistakes and fully began to understand what her people really need in her Act 2 story quest.

In Chinese, she mentioned not to forget that there is a dot between the 2 Chinese characters. Because in Chinese, the first character is always the family surname, not the second or third. In Ruan Mei's case, both characters are her parents' surnames.

I did liked her at one time, but after finding out that she left a lot of cute little critters behind that still believes in her coming back to them and trying to be successful creations of hers to get her approval somehow brings down a lot of points for me. And lets not forget that she sent the Trailblazer to fix the small favor of hers, WHICH TURNS OUT TO BE A FREAKING EMANATOR OF PROPAGATION CLONE. I DIED SIX OR EIGHT TIMES TO THAT PIECE OF GARBAGE AND IT WAS HER CREATION ALL THIS TIME MAN.

Watch out , people are going to beat your ass for hating a character.

Yeah man, she just keeping making creations that loves her more than anything just to leave them behind, I hate characters that only care about their own agenda (apparently every member from the genius society, but until now they were fine in their own way)

I actually ended up liking Ruan Mei more because of this because it makes her a far more interesting character to think of and look out for. The slow burn of realizing how much more apathetic and reckless she is as a researcher as we continue to uncover clues in the secluded zone is well done imo. I also like how they put enough nuance and mystery in her person so that she isn't just a stereotypical "mad scientist" character. No doubt a lot of her actions are questionable though, hope she returns to the story sometime!

Haha...shw really isn't malicious but she's really reckless and Apathetic at times. She needs that friend who can keep them in check. 😢

Yeah I really tried. When I saw her trailer, I was amazed. I know that she will be my favorite character and that she will be well written. But she's actually too bitchy🥲

Honestly the first trailblaze continuance mission in this update is disappointing compared to the past. But at least Ruan Mei has a unique character. A deeply flawed and hateable but unique nonetheless.

@@isisv7 Yeah I think that's the second continuance mission. I like that one with Dr Ratio instead of the bug hunting one. Honestly the devs should make a character quest for Ruan Mei soon to further solidify her character. I don't mind if she became more hateable but please don'take her wishy-washy like Raiden Shogun.
