This is the strangest experience. I've never been concerned about somebody *so* unlikable. I cant handle watching much of her content because she's just so obnoxious. But im still concerned and hope she gets help.

I’m a nurse and I totally agree she definitely seems manic. Her strange word choice and religious delusions as well as vulgarity (talking about god) are like… the bipolar manic episode script. Also I know nothing about her I was just intrigued by the text in the thumbnail, just wanted to say it’s not uncommon for people to just start saying bigoted, weird things that aren’t representative of their actual beliefs while having a manic or psychotic episode. I don’t know if she’s been racist in the past while in a more stable mental state but I just wanted to say that. Many diseases with psychosis can manifest as people just sort of repeating shocking things that you’ve heard, I’ve taken care of women who were feminists at 1pm and then at 2pm are having psychosis and start yelling about women being sluts and wishing my coworkers and I would get raped. I think part of destigmatizing mental illness means recognizing that mentally I’ll people can say and do things that are genuinely awful that you would never accept from a healthy person. If we’re willing to accept that some people are too mentally unwell to be held responsible for murder, we need to accept that some people are too mentally unwell to be held responsible for their words.

I believe this series of events transpired: -Gabbie didn’t put a lot of effort into promoting her album release in July (bc failure is less painful when you don’t try your best) -Gabbie’s album flops. She’s crushed about it, but also knows deep down that she kind of sabotaged it herself -She loses a small artist contest to perform at an event (which she was receiving flack for bc she has a huge platform and had no business taking this opportunity from ppl w a much smaller platform) -Her album flopping and losing the contest are both deeply embarrassing and depressing for the future of her music career -She feels lonely and isolated. The lack of attention online, both personally and musically, pains her. She doesn’t have a purpose, and her claims of ‘saving the world’ are baseless attempts at tending to her wounded ego -She takes a break from the internet for a week, self-describing it as a ‘silent retreat’ in her home -This triggers a full blown mental health episode that presents as manic with psychotic features. She believes she has found her purpose as the ‘second coming of Christ’ and must convince the world of her importance -Suddenly, people are starting to talk about her again. Whether they are incredulous, mocking, or concerned - people are talking about her. She’s trending. -News media outlets report on the public’s concern for her mental well-being. Cops are showing up at her door to ensure she is safe. All of a sudden people care about her, but she feels the best she’s ever felt! -As the mania inevitably begins its descent, the reality of what she has done (harming BIPOC, trans, young mom communities) begins to settle. To defend her ego from encountering this impending humiliation, she needs a new narrative. -Whether consciously or subconsciously, she achieves this by flipping the script and says it was all a product of her ‘art’. In her mental gymnastics, she frames it as an intentional stunt, and ppl are weird for ever being concerned. But aha! she got you to look at her ‘art’, so she ‘wins’ after all! EDIT: just to clarify I fully believe this was a genuine mental break for her, but I also don’t think she’s capable of taking responsibility for actions that she later feels ashamed of - so I think she’s trying to deflect by saying it was all an intentional ‘art’ project and we’re the dumb ones to take it seriously

bipolar episodes can be surprising. my partner's dad has bipolar disorder and every couple of years he has a major manic episode where you'd honestly believe he is a completely different person. he is an engineer, and during his episodes he talks about his belief that we live on a flat earth, and about god a lot even though he's never been outwardly religious. well and truly, bipolar completely shifts the brain - quite possibly anything she says in such a state she may never have ever thought under normal pretenses. it's really tough to watch.

I have Bipolar 1 and manic episodes have been the worst part of this disorder, as many people don’t know, manic episodes destroy the brain. It’s exponential and that’s why many people with Bipolar 1 end up passing prematurely- by accident in a preventable situation or by suicide. Thanks for your insight on this. Subscribed. As someone who has had a wellness check done on them and called it on others- they don’t always do anything. A lot of the times they’re just checking to make sure the person is alive and not attempting to harm themselves or others. Unfortunately, wellness checks (at least the ones I’ve experienced) aren’t super helpful for mental breakdowns, like the one Gabbie seems to be experiencing, unless the person being checked on actually asks for assistance.

The fact that a STRANGER was in her home was so scary

It’s strange to know this is the same person I use to watch when I was a literal child, I no longer like her- for obvious reasons, but it’s such a bizarre thing to watch unfold. I hope she gets help, genuinely. It’s weird to think about how much she’s changed since Vine, and change isn’t always for the best… I hope her family is able to reach out to her and I hope they’re on good terms, she needs a steady foundation.

In defense of these wellness checks: wellness checks are mostly to see 1) if a person is in danger or injured, and 2) if a person is a threat to themself or others. If you pass both those questions, then that's as far as wellness checks go. And truthfully, I think that's mostly a good thing. Police should not be able to just come into the home of someone with mental illness and take them for experiencing symptoms of that mental illness. If they could, that would be a nightmare. The trauma and fear that a policy like that would cause would do a lot more harm to all people with mental illnesses. As concerning as this whole situation is, Gabbie has the right to exist peacefully in her home.

My biggest pet peeve about religion is saying god will heal your mental health. If you believe in god you’ll no longer have your mental health issues. Like just stop down playing mental health. So I’ve been psychotic and I will tell you, psychosis can make up down and inside outside. It fucks with your perception of anything and everything. So saying something problematic during an episode isn’t a reliable indicator of if you’re problematic. BUT, but but but… we know her pattern of behavior. wellness checks are really limited. people on the internet have a really unrealistic expectation of what can be done in a situation like this. having someone committed/treated against their will is *extremely* challenging given the MAJOR constitutional issues at play. the only way action can be taken against gabbie’s will is if she is verbally voicing an intent to actually physically harm herself or others, or is actively physically harming herself or others. otherwise, law enforcement hands are tied.

What really makes me mad is so many comments going "Sweetie YOU LET HIM IN." as if like that makes it HER fault. He was trying to get her to take her meds when he’s presumably not a medical professional, and has no way of knowing what she has taken recently? Even if I know the medications someone is meant to take and the doses, I wouldn’t try to get them to take those because I have no way of knowing if they’ve already taken them that day or taken something else that will react badly with those medications

Personally, I think she was misdiagnosed as ADHD and those meds have really had a terrible effect on her. I know she wasn't a great person before, but this outward display of erratic behavior didn't start getting out of hand until she announced being on ADHD meds. I didn't think too much on it before, but now I can't help but wonder if the correlation is just a coincidence or if the meds really did worsen whatever underlying conditions she had.

My sister went through the exact same spiritual mania and all her wellness checks she was left to her devises because she was “not a danger to herself and others.” The cops literally told me, “Yes she’s definitely going through something and is very bizarre but, she’s an adult even if she’s manic she has to chose to be hospitalized or be taken involuntarily if she’s a danger to herself or others.”

I really just don't know what to think. She's openly admitted to trolling with her erratic behavior so many times that I'm hesitant to believe it. It's like the boy who cried wolf. On the other hand, this does feel a bit different. If she is trolling, she's taken it way too far this time. If this is genuine, then I sincerely hope that she gets help.

I may have an interesting take but, I don’t believe that Gabbie’s sister or family should be responsible in helping Gabbie. Here is why: Growing up, I had a mother who had a drug and alcohol addiction, and she was also bipolar and had anxiety. My grandmother dropped thousands of dollars on rehabs, treatments, medications, therapists, etc. Every time, without fail, after being helped, getting sober, getting her mental health under control, she kept spiraling and she learned to manipulate others to give her money and help. We don’t know what Gabbie’s family has done for her. We really don’t and we can’t really judge them. They could’ve helped Gabbie numerous times. But, people who aren’t ready to be helped or don’t want help, won’t ever take it. I had to protect myself and I cut my mom out of my life from age 11 until I was 23 (I’m 25 now and still keep her at arms length) and not only that, but being on the opposite side of the country, as she said, there’s only so much they can do. Wellness checks and checking in on her via FaceTime or phone calls are about it. You cannot admit someone to the hospital, a mental hospital/rehab, or treatment center without their consent unless they are entirely incapacitated. It’s a tough situation all around..I really hope Gabbie is okay after all of this and she turns her life around. She’s been worrying me for years.

I have a theory: I think she’s going to claim that this was all an act when she comes out of her manic episode to seem like she’s in control. It would be scary to come out of this and have all of this on such a public stage and as someone who has experienced mania, reclaiming control is the first instinct you have. Trying to rationalize and protect yourself. I do hope she gets the help she needs.

I’ve unfortunately been through one of these very intense manic episodes and I recognize that frantic look her eyes too well. I also could barely sleep for 2 weeks and I also felt I had been enlightened in a way that other people haven’t and that was one of the worst times in my life I genuinely felt like I was going insane and I was going to be that way for the rest of my life. I really hope she’s doing well and she gets some after care of some sort because the fall from these are just as intense as the peak. Edit: I’m also not surprised she’s not admitting to it because after I had come down I was mortified that I had acted that way and ripped myself to shreds over it. She’s probably very embarrassed (doesn’t excuse her not owning up to it obviously)

Clinically speaking there is no way of knowing if she has bipolar disorder if she is actively using substances, which from what I understand we have reason to believe she is. No one can say what is going on.

My initial reaction was along with many others at the time it was coming out was that, as we've seen before, leaning on mental health to get concern built around her for free promotion. Until that man came into her house, we've seen time and time again how bad a situation like that could have been. Hes so unbelievably dangerous to think he was okay to visit her home in attempt to exploit this woman, and had she not had that moment of 'sobriety' he planned to essentially drug her by getting her to take medications. he had no knowledge of which pills are what, how often to take or what tablet interacts with other medications. So reckless, by assuming shes not taking those medicines on the side he could potentially have made her overdose by taking more than the prescribed amount. She was already in a vulnerable state, now imagine how much more vulnerable she would have been with a fist-full of random pills. Entitled douche bag. I may not agreed with this woman's actions or words at the best of times, but you can tell that gabbie is not at the wheel for her behaviour now but rather her mania. She needs help.

As someone who has worked in mental health and substance abuse, when police come to check on someone there is a very little they can do if the person I not currently going through a crisis or not “posing a threat.” So they cannot take or do anything for that person. Of course it can be different in different states, but it’s not as easy to admit a person as it seems

The fact that even her family is done with her is so sad. I really hope she gets the help she clearly needs.

The fact that the POLICE, who are notoriously unequipped to recognize and deal with mental health episodes, are the people doing wellness checks is inexcusable. There should have been a social worker there who was trained to recognize the signs of mania, psychosis, etc., and respond to the situation appropriately. I don't follow her enough to know if the racist/transphobic stuff was there before, but the god stuff, is definitely consistent. These situations are hard to manage for concerned people. Her sister has no responsibility to do anything. They are both adults, they have the rights of adults. Unfortunately, in the US the next step would be an involuntary hold. That's not always a productive action. If the police ask if she's alright and she says yes, they can't and shouldn't do anything. It's hard to watch a person seemingly experience delusions or mania, but our brains are complex. I don't have any advice nor do I know what should be done, but personal autonomy is a right. Be concerned for her, but she has to want and find her own help.

Situations like this are so tricky, because I understand the concern and the feeling of helplessness as someone kind of breaks down or deteriorates, but also, police really shouldn't be able to just walk into anyone's house and basically kidnap and imprison them, for the crime of having "unconventional beliefs" or "acting strange", etc etc. You can argue that "well, this is CLEARLY mental illness/a mental break, we just want to HELP, she needs help", and, okay, but who is the one who gets to determine that? The police or the public. Really think on that. Think on anyone and everyone having the power to, if they don't like how you act or how you think or what you have to say, they can just Decide you are "ill" and bring COPS into your HOME to KIDNAP you and incarcerate you. Don't olay and pretend that "well cops would know if theres really no issue!!" a) it's traumatic to have a wellness check called in the first place, and b) oh honey, you have a Lot to learn about the police. And, what about people who are chronically mentally ill, do they not have a right to Exist, including displaying symptoms of their illness, without the constant threat of being accosted or even kidnapped/locked up? "Well, then what can we do? What about people who REFUSE help but need it??" First of all, I think you sadly overestimate the current state of mental health care/"help" in this country and the world at large, and second of all, I'm sorry, but there really isn't an answer for that. Both can be true, that wellness checks are traumatic and actively dangerous for the people they are called on, and also that there aren't really many better options. That's not a personal failing of individuals for not "doing/trying enough", it's more a failure of the system and of our current understanding of psychology and mental care. But yeah,,, I had a conclusion but I lost it, sorry. Anyways, honestly both that Gabbie is unwell and going through something..... and also that people need to stop doing wellness checks on her and accept they cannot help. "But that's so awful :(" yep. Feel kind of similar about Eugenia Cooney, it's horrible and deeply saddening, but people need to accept that there is nothing we can do and often in trying to force help on them we are making things far worse.

wellness checks are just to make sure youre not a danger to yourself or others, otherwise they can’t involuntary hold you in a psych hold. her being visibly uninjured and not holding a weapon or anything similar means they don’t legally have cause to bring her in. either she has to check herself into a psych ward or she has to get bad enough for the police to force her into a hold

Thank you for posting this but at the same time it's so hard to watch her! I used to watch her often when she first came on to KZfaq when she was funny, relatable and more calm... but she's gone so far down hill that I honestly don't know if she can be helped... I hope she can be helped... but idk if she can be... her getting help would consist of her actually wanting to and putting forth effort. I don't think that would happen...

I have said this before and I will say it again - As a Christian and as someone with a mood disorder, this hurts to see. It's scary to see. I was watching a livestream from Jordan and McKay yesterday and they touched on this. I think Jordan put it well: now is not the time for accountability. She’s in the middle of something, and trying to enforce that is simply counterproductive. Accountability for her words and the hurt she’s caused (which is still real) has to come later.

I sadly no longer have people in my life to due drug induced psychosis, this is exactly how some friends and family I knew started to act once they started hitting the deep end and had at least one bad trip.. hopefully it's just that so she can recover in time. I hope she continues to get better ❤️

As a female with bipolar 1 and ADHD , she checks all the boxes I did. It makes you feel invincible for those manic times and there's no consequences for what you do. I abused alcohol, slept with random people, shoplift, just generally dangerous things, and it felt like nothing would go wrong. I used to only sleep every 3 days and be up doing things nonstop the entire night without being tired at all. With the money she makes it's harder to feel those consequences too, harder to hit rock bottom and actually have to make a change. My mom had to call the cops multiple times and they did nothing because I lied and held it together. I would never have gotten help if I didn't actually want to, there was nothing anyone could have said. It's hard and sad to watch someone else go through that and not be at a recovery point.

If anyone ever doubts Gabbie is in the midst of a manic episode: You can see it in her eyes. Speaking from my experience as the child of a Bipolar person , the eyes change when a person is in a manic high. The pupils narrow into small, black dots, allowing the scleras to appear larger. Some people will, unwittingly, widen their eyelids as well. Particularly the bottom lids, not the top. The person will, eerily so, reduce the amount of blinking they do. They won't entirely stop blinking, obviously. But the rate of blinks slow just enough to be noticable. Their eyes will oftentimes communicate their emotional shifts. Slight narrowing, large widening, drifting gazes and static ever present wonder. No matter their emotional state, and how frequent the erratic changes occur, their eyes will always communicate their well-being.

It's okay to be concerned for Gabbie Hanna and upset for the things she is saying. Mental illness doesn't mean you get to say and do whatever. Maybe she doesn't realize EXACTLY what she is saying but she does have a sense it's problematic, she is still responding to people who are upset. And eventually when she is fully in her right mind she should have to take accountability like anyone else. I'm saying this as someone who's gone through manic episodes being diagnosed with Bipolar 2 and have done things I'm not proud of in response to PTSD episodes. I still had to face what I did and control myself and learn to control myself throughout my life. Just keep in mind you can do both be mad and concerned. That's valid.

This is the first time I'm commenting anywhere on that situation but I need to say my peace. Honestly I'm not concerned, I don't wish any harm on her but I'm not gonna worry about mental health of an r-word apologist, after what she did to Jessi Smiles (and literally every SA survivor who's hurt by the narration she promoted) she won't get any sympathy from me. Especially as a person who's struggling with metal health disorders for over a decade myself, this is not an excuse to be a terrible person and she literally hurt other people so bad she could've (and maybe did) pushed them to a mental breakdown. She's rich, go get help, go to a psychiatrist, get medicated, go to a therapist, literally she can pay for a private facility and get the best mental health specialist, almost none of people with mental health disorders have that luxury and the majority of them still don't actively hurt others. i just wanna say that US people are so obsessed with saying they are a million different nationalities just because their parents or grandparents were born somewhere else and it always happens with european nationalities and white ppl, also the term white in the US means a whole different thing than in Europe

This was truly a manic episode and our of her control. I went back a long way through her tik told and she admitted to being filled with extreme anxiety because her album release was soon to happen. This seems to have been the trigger. She also took a break from smoking. She spoke her truth, what she perceived as her truth. She didn't want to be alone. There's so much to this. No one should be judging her. Another person showed up at her fence. The gal in tik Tok and her story doesn't add up. Stalker vibes. I wish Gabbie peace and wellness. 🙏🏼💗

Even if this was all "fake," she still is need of interference, cause healthy same people don't do this.

Dude when I had a bi polar mental meltdown, it was terrifying. I had a anti depressant that did not mix well with my bi-polar. It caused me to think all sorts of very odd things. I cried in a dennys because Icouldnt eat, I lost my temper everywhere, I couldn't really sleep for days...at the end of it I started to hear my family's voices in the hospital before they sent me to stay there for about two weeks to get it all sorted out. I knew I was out of control, I knew things weren't right with me....but I literally could not stop, it was the worst. I have had manic episodes since, but my meds help me keep it on a much more realistic level and never had something like that again. I also have BPD, and my little reality of myself and the elevated self esteem, nearly main character like syndrome. All of that manic phase broke my reality and it's been easier to manage that mental illness too after being in therapy and on meds for 6 years now.

I'm German, French, Scottish, Irish, English, etc- Euro mix, basically, but primarily German and Scottish with a lot of French lol Dad is half German, Mom's side is heavily Scottish. But who knows, I'm white, can't fairly claim anything other than American (not proudly, I was born here, I'm thankful for what I have but I'm not proud of what this country has become, however this isn't about politics)

As an ER nurse I’ve been frustrated with the mental health care system in America for YEARS! Literally all law enforcement can do is make sure she’s not a harm to herself or others. Beyond that, she’s allowed to be a little nuts. Until she’s homicidal or suicidal they can’t force her to get treatment. I wanted to clarify that because I keep seeing the same thing mentioned that they were upset the officers didn’t do more.

my bestfriend was diagnosed with BPD when we were in highschool, before she was diagnosed she used to talk like this all the time and say random weird things, at the time it was funny and goofy, but thinking back on it now she was definitely going through multiple manic episodes and makes me feel bad for the way I treated her as a goofy idiot when really she just needed mental help

The only thing she’s right about is calling out the DID fakers (excluding the g*d part). It’s become a fcking trend now on tiktok.

It felt like she’s going through denial (the last segment). Shifting blame from herself, not admitting to what happened.

She does this all the time. Takes long breaks after being cancelled and comes back weird af saying racist shit or just other generally shitty things. Then gets all her remaining fans wound up and worried about her. Let's see if she ends up releasing anything in the next few months. Very over it and have no sympathy for her.

But I have to put it out there that the cops have to deal with tons of people on a regular basis, many of those people aren't in their right mind... they have to think on their feet and determine if the person is between a level 1 and a level 10 (10 being the person needs medical attention asap)... these cops deal with tons of mentally unstable people and they know that they unfortunately can't take all dangerously unstable people in because there's not enough room... I still have faith in the police, I hope yall do too! Imagine being one of those officers having to make that decision based off of a 5 to 30 min convo with someone you don't know...

The problem with wellness checks is detaining someone involuntary needs specific proof, an abundance of TikTok’s of her behaving unwell means nothing when she hasn’t actually showed she a danger to herself in the eyes of the law.

oh wow... this is absolutely heartbreaking. I'm not a fan of gabbies, in fact, I hardly watch any KZfaqr. but of course, I'm up to date with gabbie & her scandals. I went these psychosis a few years back now, & although mine were brought on by drugs, I was so scared when I seen her videos. my psychosis was religion based, & it was the exact same as what I was seeing in her videos. I'm blessed to be drug free for 2 years now. and I hope & pray gabbie gets through this, I know it's hard but I can only imagine how much harder it is to have millions of people watching you. I truly implore everyone to not judge her, instead show her kindness & support, you just never know how much it might mean to someone. you don't want your negative comment to be the comment that finally pushes someone over the edge. think before you talk, & always, every where show kindness. ♥️

As someone with BPD, something similar to our episodes is the mania in short doses and grand extremes, it truly makes me uncomfortable to see this all, she really needs to take herself off the internet for a bit and get the supportive help she’s needing. i’ve said this for a while
