They honestly do but considering a ton or comedians tend to be more left, weirdos have assumed SNL went full political. They've hosted plenty of independent thinkers (literally Dave Chappell) and I see these same comments across every one of the monologs...

@steventollefson5418 2 ай бұрын
@LilFletch926 SNL focused on Trump as a punching bag for so long, they forgot to write anything funny. SNL used to be more consistent with random skits, now, it is 85% political and 5% funny and 10% just to fill the gap.

I have seen a few podcasts where Shane addresses this. There was a lot of kick-back (of course) on the Internet, especially about the red-haired guitar player. They have been there through rehearsals, and in the actual dress rehearsal, so it's not new to them. Shane said he doesn't get the kick-back; they were all very polite, and he was glad they didn't laugh JUST because they were on camera. They told him he was funny before/after; that is good enough.

I’m pretty sure if Shane watched this monologue back he would tell you that it was a terrible set. He looks like he got so scared that he had to pull out ole reliable in the down syndrome jokes. His deliveries are off, he doesn’t even wait for laughs on some of the punch lines and some of the jokes are missing a punchline entirely. His dad being a volunteer assistant girls basketball coach is seriously weak. I legit didn’t know that was supposed to be a joke. Theres no setup he literally just introduced his dad and started laughing.

Lol I felt the same way. I think he was caught between a rock and a hard place-the upper limit of what’s appropriate for live TV and the lower limit of what his core audience is accustomed to. Since the latter is beyond the former, he stretched his legs and kept one foot on either side to find an awkward spot in between. This monologue was basically Shane doing the splits lol.

@@Purple_haze81000I LOVE Norm, and have for 30+ yrs. And Norm loved Shane. Shane has a style. And you don't seem to get it. Norm had a style, and a lot of people didn't get it either. I'd recommend you watch Shane's specials before you go around making dumb judgments.

@@Purple_haze81000Norm, the greatest comedian of all time, rambled more than anybody who ever lived. And Norm, who never met Shane. Called him to console him when he lost the SNL job, while he was dying of cancer. What a good guy . Shane, a very talented guy. From what I can see a very good guy as well, came out on top. This is a good day.

As the parent of a child with DS, I totally agree with him. She’s the happiest and best loved member of the family ❤

Same with my dad’s uncle, Bill. I remember him being the sweetest man and everyone in our family adored him.

As a parent of a 12 year old with Down Syndrome I agree! If you ever want to know what genuine love is, befriend someone with DS.

That is a really old joke of his. You could visibly see him getting uncomfortable with the audience, which is why he went to the well to pull out old faithful, a joke he's told a thousand times. Still funny but I was hoping he would use this chance to drop some new material.

He's killing it! I'm laughing my ass off. I can't remember the last monologue I watched where I actually laughed out loud. Maybe Louie.

Me too! In fact it's my first time in *decades* actually. And I never even heard of this guy before -- I just got on some kind of list where I apparently promised I'd show up and watch the show this one time only and then never do it again. He was pretty fuckin' funny tho.
