"Oh, Marty, be careful around that Griff character. He's got a few short circuits in his bionic implants." -- Doc I always attributed the reason Griff and his gang spoke & acted so eccentrically is due to their bionic implants, which were still very illegal at that time. They likely got them installed from some cheap, shady black market shop ala cyberpunk. The "Vote Yes on Proposition 237" stuff in the movie's 2015 future was to legalize bionics.

i always attributed Griff as the logical conclusion of Biff breeding. The kid was psychotic....how do you think he made kids? We already know he was down with....rape. Biff's genes are the type that shouldn' t continue. This is the result.....generations that eventually can't even hide it.

I've seen one other reactor cry, for the first Back To The Future, when Marty opens the garage door and he has the pickup truck. Crispen Glover argued that he didn't like the movie because he thought it meant "money solves everything" and that's wrong, but the original McFlys were CLEARLY struggling, everything in the house was from the 70s or older, the car was from the 70s, and it hits a lot different when you grow up like that. They weren't rich or anything, but they weren't a family of 5 adults trying to get by.

@@MKF30 It appears that the problem is a bit more complex than that. Apparently Glover critiziced the ending of BttF as too materialistic for the story, which Gale did not appreciate, and blocked any further attemps to get him for the sequels. Here is Glover talking about it: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ndOletx5x5rNeHk.html&ab_channel=notsam
@MKF30
@MKF30 3 жыл бұрын
@@TheJFGB93 It's not really that complex lol. Glover literally explains what I and others here said as well as the trivia. You can't do something illegal due to a grudge or disagreeing with someone's opinion...that's his opinion which Glover can have. Tons of actors praise their movies, rip or feel meh. Who cares? lol If Bob's feelings were hurt that still doesn't give him the right to use Glover's likeness without permission nor lie about him which the video you posted confirms btw whether he likes Glover's view or not that's pretty petty on Gale's part. And he made peace with Zemekis so I I don't believe it's all on Glover's part regarding the grudge. I am a huge BTTF fan read into it years ago, Gale was also not a fan of working with Glover because he felt he was "hard to work with" made a big deal about his hair not being exactly the way he wanted and threatened Glover over it to replace him. It's on the BTTF trivial and extra features you can only see on the special editions... He also had only done any blocking and lying about Glover after he got sued for doing something illegal in using Glover's face, plus the trivial confirms it so it's not really anymore complex than that. There's always two sides to every story but here clearly Glover was the one right legally. As for him bashing parts of the movie, that's Glover's right it's called freedom of speech man.

The recreation of the truck scene kills me, Marty’s reaction to the truck in the first one was perfect-heartfelt and deeply thankful for having a better life. In the reshoot it just looks like a kid who got his first car. Marty’s life in the future sucks because his family changed, but he didn’t. Thus, the residue of having the Mcfly curse still exists in Marty. He wasn’t raised by a confident George Mcfly.

The scene I've always wanted to see is when Doc and Marty first meet. Doc knows that he and Marty are going to go on the greatest set of adventures any humans have ever gone on. How does he act when he meets this kid knowing all that. I think he probably built the giant speaker from the first film knowing Marty would think it's cool as hell. They probably met at the Burger King next to Doc's laboratory. Marty could hear someone blasting Wagner louder than anything he'd ever heard and had to check it out. You ask "do the people in the future have to seem weird...?" ...and the answer is yes, it was intended that way. In precisely the same way that the author of the script for the original film based it on his parents who grew up in 1955 who felt that kids in 1985 act very weird. And let's be honest....many people in 1985 "did" act weird and unnecessarily eccentric or just plain strange. Thus, the author of this script was trying to get across that we who were young in 1985 would precisely see the younger generation of 2015 to be weird and to do stupid things. And guess what? Having seen young people in 2015 for real....they most definitely did stupid things and are very weird and irrational right now.

I was 10 when this movie came out and the future scenes were the coolest part of this film. I totally believed hover boards and flying cars would be a thing by 2015. In retrospect it's pretty silly, and someone just now watching it, 5 years after 2015, I get her viewpoint. There is no way this movie can have the same effect on you when you see it now as opposed to seeing it at release as a kid. It's like watching the Neverending Story as an adult. You simply cannot get the same emotions from an adult as a young kid who is the same age as the kid in the movie.

Truth! And to add to the point, to those who grew up in the 80s the idea of 2000 seemed impossibly far away, to say nothing of 2015. Consider that in 1955 the idea of humans going to space was still completely the realm of science fiction to average people. Sputnik didn't launch until 1957 and Yuri Gagarin didn't go into space until '61. So while their vision of 2015 was way off and over the top it really makes a kind of sense if you look at how crazy 1985 would look to a transplant from 1955.

I liked that they won against Miami in the movie. (The assumption back in the late 1980s was that Miami would get an _American_ League team, rather than the National League Marlins they ended up with. This was also why the Cleveland Indians' owner in _Major League_ claims that Miami is interested in having the team move there.)

Fun Fact(s) - Biffs car in 1955 has a rear view mirror in scenes where it is convenient and it is absent in scenes where it mucks up the plot. - Movie 2 and 3 were written and filmed at the same time. - The timeframe for 1955 from movie 1 and 1955 from movie two are synced up in length of the overlapping scenes. Like the Enchantment under the Sea dance runs as a mirror. - The Cubs won the World Series 1 year off of this movie's prediction/

I find it kinda sad that they didn't do a semi-reboot where Doc's sons return to 2015 only to discover that Marty has disappeared (because you'd need to limit MJF's screen time) and Doc doesn't remember him (and maybe he's a bit of a mess due to not having Marty there to assist) so they have to go back in time to 1985 to correct the problem. Use clips from the original and Part II with minimal interaction between Doc's sons and people in 1985 (though you could probably do quite a lot with deepfakes and good voice acting, though I don't think deep fakes were very advanced way back in 2015, six years ago).

Another comment: I don't know if you've seen Avengers Endgame, but the writers of that *clearly* took inspiration from BTTF 2. They had the characters revisit scenes from past movies, showing previous events from new points of view (and triggering nostalgia for the audience in the process). Also, in both movies the characters were after a Macguffin. (A magic cube, vs a sports almanac) And in both movies the main characters nearly succeed in attaining it, only to lose it when a character from the past (Hulk vs 1955 Marty) opens a door too violently, knocking the Macguffin away.

They kind of gave us a window into that “ over the top “ future when they introduced the addition of “Mr. Fusion” on the back of the DeLorean in the first film. A joke on the Mr. coffee brand coffee machines from the 80’s. So that over the top future kinda made sense to me. I remember those old Java makers so when I saw Mr. fusion back then I thought that was wild. In this movie they really show you the possible paradoxes that can happen when fiddling with time. And the series really needed that considering it’s not the first time travel story but it’s one of the main time travel stories we all remember. Oh and ~no spoilers~ you find out more about the chicken thing and I can’t wait to hear what you have to say about it.
