Totally a miracle that little mike didn’t make a mess with all the paint!! Maybe just as miraculous as you getting released in 14 days !:). Great to hear food is not an issue anymore! Hang there!! Hopefully they loosen up the restriction.

One tip- eggs should be at room temp when making a cake - leave it out for at least 20 minutes when you take it out of the fridge- and sift your cake it will make your cake softer.Add some rum or whiskey to the cake to make it more moist. Don’t beat the cake too much, just use a wooden spoon to blend it.

In my country ventilation audits were done on apartment buildings and found that: 1 Air can travel between apartments on the same floor via common vent, 2 Air can flow into an apartment from hallway if a window is open, 3 Air can flow into a second apartment from hallway if a door of one apartment has no open windows or doors, but a second apartment opens its front door to say receive a parcel, 4 Travel in lifts recently used by others is risky, 5 Most Covid transmission is airborne, though minimising fomites is important. Main ingredient of a birthday cake is Love, so the one you made your wife was outstanding. If you have time, could you please post the directions for your wife's brilliant process for growing sprouts. This is a wonderful and delicious source of protein. 你们真的有被害妄想症，我朋友出差被封在上海，天天在微博骂，但是解决不了问题啊，要不是疫情爆发，谁乐意顶着压力惹众怒；一边是放宽措施，带了全国各地区的恶性循环，大量老弱病残的死亡；一边是严控，以期快点解决潜在威胁；从大局上看不认为上海严控政策有问题；但是初期行政执行不到位，和一开始不重视的心态是这次爆发的主要原因；上海政府这次表现很差；隔壁深圳广州就做的很到位。

Some districts have relaxed restrictions. Always look into the case loads (symptomatic and asymptomatic cases), fatality and recovery rates.

I had quantine myself in Canada, because I got covid last week,even I feel ok, but I don't want my family take the risk, we had room to quantine, but in China not many people have enough room to quantine themself. From my experience I don't feel it's a flu, when I cough, it seems very strong cough. I can understand if many people are sick or dying in china,it will be tragedy. Mike, let's have a contest,see who realease out first 😄

Glad to see that ure doing well teacher Mike, I’m from Beijing and I’ve seen a lot of disturbing videos recently talking about how bad the situation is in Shanghai, I just wanted to say that we must not exaggerate, covid is not that deadly and scary thing, and those people really need to calm down and follow government guidelines and comply with the shelter in place order, instead of making a big deal out of it and overreacting, unless they are doing it on purpose~ From what I gather most people there are doing fine and are very considerate, I personally am not concerned or scared of Covid at all, hope the shelter in place will be lifted soon, may God bless China

Make sure you buys razors, soap, toothpaste, detergent, toilet paper...basically anything you can't eat but use almost daily. We have been locked in since March in Minhang Shanghai and I wish I had stocked up on those. Anything frozen and canned make sure you stalk up on as well plus all your spices and sauces. You will get veggies and meat but not much else from the government. I wish you and Beijing luck!

Damn, when does this madness end? My three friends in Shanghai are still in lockdown, one in Puong on day 40, another in PuXi on week 6. Infections keep popping up, resulting in an extension of 2 weeks. Madness. I hope you and Xiao Mai can cheer each other up. Maybe you can grow some more bean sprouts. And bake yet another cake. Cheers. Friends in other cities are preparing for their own lockdowns. Infections are slowly creeping ever closer, with increasing PCR test frequency. You know it will happen.

With this policy the lockdowns will never end. And even if they do end for their building, how long before someone in the building tests positive and the whole things starts over again. You cannot stop the spread of this and if you lockdown every time someone tests positive, you will be locked down forever.

只是很奇怪，麦克老师所住的区域及整栋楼是不允许出外。为什么还会有新的感染者？严重怀疑那些人没有戴口罩跟快递员讲话，拿物品过后，没有消毒物品，没有去洗手就直接去拿碗盛饭。跟据很多中国家庭一起吃饭时都会用自己含着自己的口水的筷子去侠共用的饭菜，又再用同样的筷子去侠自己的饭。然后别的家庭成员又用自己的口水筷子侠去那碗菜。请您们思考，那碗菜是不是存了很多口水？如果1个人是无症状，是不是由这碗菜传染了给家人呢？就算没感染新冠，也会感染肠胃病菌。本来以为只有在乡村的人才会这样但大都市的人都不注重卫生。希望以后的中国年轻人不要像老辈们没有注重卫生。就像我们这里亲眼看到没有注重个人卫生比较容易染疫，家人注重卫生，预先盛自己所要的饭菜或在各碗菜放者公筷就不会容易染疫。

Mikey is such a cheerful boy, he has such a lovely beaming smile too. When our country went into lockdown in 2020, I can't remembered much but I think it was like 2 months. Then.... we were allowed to go out.... only one in a family and must be fully mask up. That went on.... just like that through out 2020. Yes.... we all try to grow our veggies too. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Then came early 2021.... everyone can go out to supermarkets and we need to write our names down and have temperature checks to get in. No mask ... can not get in.... plus a heavy fine. Then came 2 jabs and a booster shot in the middle of 2021. Now.... we can go everywhere to the malls... etc. It's required by law to mask up. So, it's getting better. Come 2023... I believe... everyone will fly to different countries to visit friends and families. Hang in there, Mike. I have gone through 2 years now. Looking back, it's quite an experience. The Covid virus changes the way we think. We are not that selfish anymore, we care and we share with our neighbours on food etc. We are more concerned about our relatives, friends and neighbours. Have a lovely evening.

Alright, as someone who had lived in Shanghai for 30 years, I'm just gonna go ahead and say it: this 0 covid policy is just unrealistic and stupid. Are you guys supposed to go in hard lockdown every time a case pops up? Cuz it's going to. I have a toddler too. I can hardly imagine how stressed parents to young children must feel in Shanghai, being confined with their kiddos and trying to get work done at the same time. Hope things take a turn for the better soon.

那就要看政府的调控措施了，一直封锁不是办法，但是现在的致死率还是高了点，等降到流感的2倍三倍差不多放开吧，现在是抓紧时间研究特效药，世界其它国家都躺平了，中国也不能独善其身，SO慢慢来吧，现在封锁也是没办法，中国人口基数太大，老年人又占了四分之一，不封控的话像美国那样躺平那中国死亡人数就无法想像了，虽然没有刚开始的新冠那样的致死率了

The cake looked great. However you need all purpose/cake flour with baking powder to make a cake. Yeast works best with bread flour to make bread/pasta/noodles.

Really not sure how you put up with it all! After nealy 10 years in China I am forutnate I think to have left. I think I would be locked up immediately, as there be no way I put up with this - at least from where I am standing. Be brave, things will have to change, and be ready to fight when the time comes!

I have been subscribing your channel since you went to US 2 years ago and followed through your complicated journey back to China. Feels like this time it’s the most insane lockdown ever. Sure, the zero covid day may come, but then 3 days later someone will test positive, and it will start all over again. This policy is nuts and will NEVER work.

原因可能是以下之一：核酸试剂盒准确率差，阴阳反复无常；官方故意人为制造阳性，为了继续封锁；交叉感染。

Yep. Even if they can manage to go 14 days without new cases, it will only be a matter of time before someone tests positive again, and then it all starts over. Stupid policy that will not work.
