That is not entirely true. There r alot of southern kung fu disciplines that focus on 'hard' striking techniques. In most of these arts there is big focus on building short range explosive power and conditioning. Southern mantis and bak mei would be examples of this. Most of the southern shaolin styles may well b less appealing to the eye but are very deadly if the practioner has a solid foundation.

@@Heer1ify yeah sure but as well as i know...gatka have elements of sanatan shashtra vidya and vajra mushti which are the world's deadliest attacking forms in my book...our truths can be different but what i learnt from my studies is that Indian martial arts have the deadliest attacks and killing tachniques! Anyways Tiger fist is also a very hard amd direct style! Well said about bak mei and tanglangquan! They relly are great!

Kungfu is hard but not hard strikes like non sport olden taekwondo, boxing, lethwei and muayboran! If you see dude, they can break very badly!

Hmm not entirely true. Shaolin monks weren’t regular monks they were special because they had many warrior monks. The temple has burned down many times in history. Warrior monks fought along with many dynasties to overthrow the corrupt one. The Shaolin monks were very liberal and outgoing which what made them condition there bodies a lot and used many weapons. Old warrior monks conditioned their fingers so much that they could tear out somebody’s throat with their tiger claw using their tiger Kung fu. I’m a Sikh who has also studied Punjabi and Chinese history so hope you get the point that nobody is better than one another. That’s what Gurmukhi teaches. Brother Gatka and Kung fu are 2 different thing. Gatka is mainly done with weapons and Kung fu has varieties most of them includes hand like the tiger style

Bro Gatka and Kungfu are different. Gatka is usually usefull in wars but Kungfu is used as self-defense

No , shaolin monks are more and more trained this time..But ya if kalari trained people came to fight with themm..They can surely compete with chinese kungfu bczz chinese kungfu came out from kalaripayattu only which is the mother of all martial arts in world.. Gatka, karate,kungfu all came out fron kalari only ..And Gatka is also not complete martial art ..It is just part of kalaripatattu martial art...

Hi Arun. You have given a sweeping statement. It could be right or it could be wrong too. The chances of it being wrong are higher. There have been human civilizations spread all over the planet since many thousand years. It seems unlikely that none of them developed thier own martial arts independently, but only we the Indians did. There were kingdoms in Europe, South America, Africa, China, Japan, Russia... all over.

@@yogeshgupta3940 funny thing i am not from india but my family also calls me arun, anyway I do believe that major influences of teaching were being brought from india from time to time, but of course it doesn't mean it's the key enabler cuz no one knows, and definitely unrealistic to assume that, but like seeding, the influence spreads, they were tied to religion and being brought around by traders, pilgrim, royal subjects and armies in old days, as you can see the showsmanship of both are definitely similar to each other, but i agree all people in all regions definitely comprehend and invent their own systems of techniques to fit different needs of warfare in different places with or without influences from india, it's really not that hard to form systems and thoughts to be honest, given the concept of milleniums.

It feels great to see one's country be credited for its achievments. But I see this bad habit in my country that they pounce on every chance to take the credit and try to prove that only ancient India was source of all knowledg to entire world community. It could have been the other way round too. Or may be, Martial arts originated and developed in each country - India and China - independent of each other. After all human body is same in both the countries. So without influencing each other too, there is a fair chance that similar moves will be devised by the fighters. I don't know whether there has been any academic study on this topic - evolution of martial arts and influeces amongs regions/countries on each other's styles. What troubles me is that almost none seems to be interested in this inquiry in a cool head. Everybody is hold a belief or taking a stance from thier ego.... rooted in whatever belonglingness they feel... India, Sikhism, Buddism, China..... .

Thats true brother, but there is one problem. Gatka was designed to kill in the real battle. Using gatka to compete only and not hurt someone will be a difficult task to achieve. But we can definietly adapt gatka to learn more hand to hand combat in addition to weapons.

@@SIKHLIFE and, as things currently stand, I fear we have little idea as to Gatka's effectiveness as a killing art in real battlefield conditions any longer. I know some will dispute that, but just look at the history of other martial arts, like those of Japan. Historically, many arts were originally killing arts. Once they become frequently used for performance, ceremony, and sport they quickly tend to lose their effectiveness in that area. I expect we will find this has been true of Gatka as well. There will be teachers and skills that have truly maintained their edge, but I fear it won't be the majority. The simple price of peace.

And basically all martail art came out from kalaripayattu only which is the mother of all martial arts...Gatka was earlier called up Gurgar gatka bczz Gurjar and Rajputs learnt this ..Later they taught this to sikh community...
