How to use Shape Aware Transform in Adobe Illustrator on the iPad. I demonstrate tips for using Shape Aware and drawing a paisley with the Pen tool and Pencil tool on the iPad. We then edit the Pencil tool paths to remove anchor points. After that, I demonstrate drawing with the Pen tool on the iPad. Learn keyboard shortcuts as well as the touch ring shortcut for drawing Pen tool paths.

Thank you for a great tutorial. 👍 I think the issue with you not being able to constrain the anchor handles to 45° increments (or straight up-down or left-right) is the keyboard being used. This works on my keyboard (the Apple Magic Keyboard) when using the Shift key. ⌨️

Yes, you're right - it works with my keyboard too. That was a moment I think where I was trying to do it with the touch shortcut (without keyboard), and I think of the inner ring as always acting like the shift key, but then it doesn't always act like shift! Thanks so much!

Hello! I'm having trouble making small pictures... All my pictures, once I download them, come out the same size. I can pull on the corners and make it very big, but not small. When I drag corners now it just stops at a certain size. Hope that makes sense! Thanks!

Hi, I'm sorry, but I don't know why that would happen with images in Illustrator on the iPad-unless you need to zoom in more as the image gets smaller to continue scaling it.

@@LauraCoyle Thankyou! I make the picture tiny, download it, and it still comes out the same size. Like there’s a standard size and it won’t make it any different way. It might be because it’s the iPad application. If I try on my computer it might help.

Me too! But, unfortunately Adobe hasn't added that to the iPad yet. 😭(fingers crossed)

So far, having it for two days... Affinity Designer is way better. just in terms of functionality... AI is super limited and chunky to try and do illustrative design with... annoying that it's considered 'industry leader'

Enjoy Affinity, it sounds great I just haven't had the time to try it. The iPad version of Illustrator hasn't caught up to the desktop yet.
