Here's a chance to learn about the NBA's dislodging rule. There were a lot of bad calls, but Shaq defending this blatant offensive foul was insufferable. 20 years of LeBron James getting away with this crap has led to basketball courts full of no-slill balco boys.
Shaq seems intent on convincing us he doesn't know basketball rules.

@@CWhyNot75 yeah, I get a bit aggravated when I hear how Shaq was the most dominant forgetting Wilt. Wilt was better in every category, Shaq had about 30 more pounds than Wilt. The great centers that Wilt (and he played against many more than Russell) played against were entering their prime when Wilt was leaving his. Most of the great centers Shaq played against were leaving their primes when Shaq entered his. @DemonKingBadger admittedly he was post Hakeem Robinson ftmp and the guys left were body fillers and the one criticism the kids are right about is that period had less skilled big men and simply more powerful ones due to being able to camp. @__j20
@__j20 Ай бұрын
Shaq is saying that because he played the same way. In the early to mid 90’s, running through a guys chest like lebron and shaq did would always be called an offensive foul (as it should be). But the nba started to allow shaq (and then subsequently lebron and every other player in the league) run over a defender and it either be allowed or even called a defensive foul. They had to do that because in the late 90’s when Jordan retired, the nba was in desperate need of a new face to try and keep their ratings high. Shaq had been the 2nd most popular player in the league since he came in. He was getting swept out of the playoffs pretty much every year despite being on loaded rosters, so the nba decided to allow shaq to just run over guys as much as he wanted, to ensure shaq would be the best player in the league, and so nobody would be able to defend him in the playoffs, thus allowing his team to finally break through and win. They eventually did the same thing for lebron. He has no moves or jump shot, so the nba has just allowed him to travel and commit offensive fouls on every possession.

I truly used to always believe this take was hyperbolic. But as somehow who grew up on late 90's, early 2000's NBA basketball, this is becoming more and more true every season. Which is a shame. And its one thing to have non calls, flopping, traveling, all of that. But it makes it so much more worse when they calling is uneven. Where one team can do something and its a no call, then the other team can do the exact same thing and they get called. There is no consistency. Not going to lie, I love the Nuggets, but they do flop A LOT. Though most teams do at varying degrees, they are up there with the Lakers and Knicks. As someone who grew up loving Kobe, and despising LeBron, ANT is a breath of fresh air. He reminds me of late 90's, early 2000's basketball. So there is glimpses of hope here and there, but they really need to reevaluate how refs call games. Not only do they need to enforce the rules, but enforce them evenly and consistently.

@faithenichols6947
@faithenichols6947 Ай бұрын
@@nikolatodorov1994 I agree. It's all about money. Entertainment is what they are selling. If you go back to the history of basketball, the ABA and the NBA the businessmen knew that the money was in the entertainment and not just regulation basketball. I think you need both and great officiating to make it good business. Having said that, I believe anyone who has the skills and talent to play basketball should be rewarded and recognized no matter what race, color, or nationality, or part of the world they come from. Unfortunately the NBA is about money and not fans anymore. They pay to keep certain narratives alive and have sadly become political. Many of my friends have been critical of what's going on in the NBA when it comes to players that we love and are legendary. The Legendary Larry Bird is GOAT statis in our circle. We never thought he got enough praise. We love Luka, Dirk, Nikola, Gosal brothers Marc and Pau, Yao, Manu, Beno, Tony, Boban, Domantas and many more. Just because we are black it doesn't matter to our circle who is great at basketball. We give props to the greats who play great basketball.

Exactly. The NBA hates the Nuggets, and they especially hate Jokic, who is the best player in the league. But his skin color is white, and he’s not a naturally gifted athlete, so they won’t market a guy like him. The T-Pups are the perfect squad for the NBA. Their skin color is the right tone and they play above the rim. And with Lebron at the end of his career, they need another star they can market like Jordan. Enter Anthony Edwards. He checks every single box. The Jordan comparisons have already started, and they are gonna force this dude into every basketball fans living room for the next 6-8 years. 2024 postseason rig job is in full swing!

1. Shaq is illogical so I usually just ignore his vapid opinions. 2. That was an egregious offensive foul and Murray was right to gesture the rigged money sign to the refs. Cause it does look rigged at this point. I love physical play but physical play in the 90s was crafty, and stuff uncrafty and unruly was called a foul. But here the refs seem to just be letting the game be physical for one side only. 3. Murray sadly I will say has Kobe's weakness - guarding in the post. As the smaller player, Murray needs to know the options he has in that scenario - me I one: take the hard foul, or 2, "pull the chair" on him, or 3, go for the aggressive strip, or 4, turn him baseline plus go for an aggressive strip. Sadly guys who arent used to playing offense and defense in the post are like deer in headlights guarding in the post. And before people get surprised when I say Kobe.... yeah its true, Kobe didnt have a legit post game - 9 out of 10 times he's either taking a turnaround in the post or going up and under in the post. Which is why he too struggled guarding guys like Corey Magette, Bonzi Wells, Rubin Patterson etc in the post. Anyway AOH is 1000% right in that the play was an offensive foul.

And they desperately want an American player to be the face of the league. And who is that player? Anthony Edwards. And don't get me wrong, he is a fantastic player. But it seems like the NBA and media want them to get rid of the Nuggets SO badly. It allows them to belittle Jokic more and give ANT the crown as the face of the league. I love me some Shaq. I was busy doing something during halftime, but man, that was bad. Good on Charles for knowing what the rules are and calling that crap out. That game, you might not have seen the officiating difference with (Denver had more) free throws, but it was very clear that the Wolves were given way more leeway with contact on both ends compared to what they were allowing the Nuggets. Lot of ticky tac stuff one way, a whole lot of this stuff the other way. That is so clearly a dislodge, like wtf are these NBA refs doing? Why aren't they calling this? I dunno what the 4th quarter was like, I stopped paying attention after the 3rd, but those first 3 quarters were not officiated well. A lot of people were crediting the Wolves defense, which is fine because they played well in general, but lets not act like they didn't get away with a lot of chippy play on that end as well. Odd how much people focus on the calls against the Nuggets. They let both teams play all night and the wolves were more aggressive. The refs did not impact the outcome of the game, at all.
