Shark Apex brushrollers not working, lights flashing? Try this easy fix FIRST

Kudos to Chandra Davis, the first (I think) to post the solution to this problem in the comment section of someone else's complaint video about this problem. I made this crude video so others could see exactly what to take apart and lubricate. Unplug your vacuum and check for a plugged hose, or bound up brush roller on your Shark Apex upright vacuum (this fix may also apply to similar models). Push the lower wand release to reveal three spring loaded female connectors. These make contact with the three pins in the main body of the vacuum cleaner. Use an interdental brush or some other tiny straight brush to clean the inside of each contact, then spray with contact cleaner. I doubt that the problem is actually dirty contacts, instead I suspect that the spring loaded connectors are sticking up inside the wand. It just fixed our 5-month-old shark. And no mention of this simple fix in the user manual for the AZ 1000 series, I just checked the online version to make sure. I would suggest an electronic contact cleaner spray or electrical grade silicone lubricant spray instead of the original WD-40 which is mainly mineral oil. WD-40 is an outdated shotgun remedy for various problems, you are better served to use a few specific spray products for your particular need...WD-40 realized this years ago and now makes more specialized products too. Shark customer service is completely irresponsible if they are still not getting this solution. After seeing several videos on KZfaq, I was ready to order the necessary tamper-proof Torx bits and replacement belts, but stumbled across this. Hopefully, others with the same problem will try this before taking more drastic action.

I had my vacuum in garage for 2 years because I love the suction but the base wasn't working and I even bought a second floor accessorie and it didn't work!! And this simple female cleaning did the trick 😅 for years and this is all it needed! Thank you for this video!! God bless you

I've just stripped mine down and replaced the roller switch and then this contact brushing actually did the job instead hahaha 😂. Thanks for sharing

You did it ,trythe small things first . I was searching how to fix my shark apex upright vacuum. The top wand and suction works but the base didn’t light up or do anything. Other videos showing the motherboard or engaging switch and replacing the bottom base . All I did is spray some wd-40 into the 3 holes connector from wand to base as shown in your video and it worked 😂🎉❤. Thank you so much because I luv my shark .

Shark products are great, but it seems the more complex the machine, the more likely that they will fail.

thank you.. I cleaned all the connectors, I cleaned and lubricated the little catch pin thingy's that keep the roller cover on ( I'M guessing those are safety switches as well , so the drums will not turn with the cover off) cleaned everything and , it works!!

This worked, thank you! Fyi, after i spayed in the electronic cleaner I used q-tips with some of the cotton removed and rolled the tip into a point. Ty for the video! Btw had CRC QD Electronic Cleaner in our garage, red and white can, just putting that there in case someone doesnt know what to buy

AZ1003BRN Purchased 1/7/2022. Same problem. Had hose replaced 3 months after purchase. On 6/29/2023 the wand, where it connects to the power head is losing connection turning off the vacuum head and brushrolls. The handle light comes on when this occurs, every time you pull back on the vacuum the head turns off. Gonna try your top hope it works. Thank you.
