Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar is an Indian Hindi-language period drama television series created and directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The series is about the lives of tawaifs at the red-light district of Heera Mandi in Lahore during the Indian independence movement against the British Raj. It stars Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh and Sharmin Segal.

SLB is a huge hypocrite! He pressurizes and gets angry at his actors and actresses for making even minute mistakes and justifies it with claiming to be a perfectionist, but then he also casts his niece, who just can't get anything done right yet gets favoured over others. This is literally nepotism at its peak!

@@retikasharma1752 it's sad they only had two scenes together 😂 still they ate it up while Aditi and Fardeen were so thanda, it all depends on the actors. Guess the white actor was good and complemented with Aditi who did a good job in the series altogether. Alam and Tajdar were meh due to Sharmin's bakwas acting. Taha tried hard but due to Sharmin couldn't make chemistry.

She had a poker face and it continued till the end. Sadly display of expressions and emotions on her face both were completely Missing.

You're being v generous w your words, she was horrible. I can't believe Taha Shah romanced a piece of wood/a wall, but still managed to sweep us off our feet w his B E A U T I F U L performance. I mean, actors, both of them create chemistry, it's even more astounding how their track only became watchable because of how massively charming & a man of his craft Taha showed up to be. He literally saved or, in fact, outdid his part in their chemistry/the whole series. It was fainting to come across someone as powerful as Taha, yet as awful as her in a pairing. I'd literally watch their scenes w my entire focus on Taha because she had NOTHING to offer...

Yes good point. I think I watch Malaal so many times since Sharmins male co- star was outstanding as an actor and tremendously good looking. Mezaan jaffri. That was Sharmins first movie and although she looked fresh she was still unable to show the accurate emotion required for the scenes.

Alamzeb's maid had more chemistry with malikajaan's driver. Richa chadha's character felt incomplete. When she died i felt nothing because there was no deep connection built with the character. Shes a good actor but not great. I felt even sonakshi did good but not great.

If SLB had just swapped her with the character of Shama. He had so many options to choose from, even more so because she was virtually a central character. Even Mallikajaan was doing everything for her. I would go as far to say that any actress could have played this character better than her.

This is common with most of d heroines in his movies, it gets so annoying. Yes acting only with one's eyes is difficult, but to act only with d eyes n restrict d face, makes it boring to look at d character after sometime.

Alamzeb, always wanted to read and write becoming a Shayra ( female poet )not a tawaif ( performer)so to some extent in the mujras where she remained expressionless can be explained by saying that she was forcefully made to do that by Mallikajaan, but she even lacked in showing natural affection in love with Tajdar ,we should remember this love was very mutual and not forced( as her career choice) well I think it's a pure miscast.... If anyone has other views please share.

Yup exactly! I think even the scene where Mallikajaan threw her poems into the fire was very unmoving. Her writing is literally her heart and soul so I would expect a much bigger reaction. Bigger not in the sense of screaming and howling, but I guess I was expecting more anguish in her eyes.

Thank God someone spoke about this fact..The entire cast perfectly balances the story of Heeramandi except Sharmin..Such an expressionless actress..I believe just bcoz she is SLB’s niece, she bagged this opportunity to play an impactful character which was unfortunately, completely ruined..!!

I couldn’t bear any of her scenes right from the beginning she maintained her expressionless looking into the abyss face. I was so frustrated watching her that I couldn’t help but leave the series in it’s first episode but then entered Fareedan aka Sonakshi… literally skipped every scene that had Alam

I agree with her that sharmin looks very beautiful I found her acting reasonably good in the beginning but the second half she looks totally blank I think the reason may be she was married during that time just a guess
