You have to appreciate the detail in this scene knowing how much Adora is manipulating her husband and daughter to be extensions of herself.

I think they miss the opportunity to make the sister more likable. Her sociopathic progression should’ve been more subtle, because the ending doesn’t really give us the payoff they were hoping for. We’re supposed to believe that Amy Adams character is heartbroken at the revelation the sister she tried to save, is the murderer. However Amy Adams’s character spent the entire eight episodes being detached because of her issues, And every moment the sister had that was supposed to be endearing was so manic you could feel the evil dripping off of her, so we’re not heartbroken at the end, we’re just kind of shocked. The sister should’ve been outed as the murderer first, and the final act is realizing that the mother knew about it all along and has orchestrated it all.

I don't agree, you believe the younger sister is kinda crazy or weak and manipulated by her own mother and looking for attention from Camille and her mother. We think the mother committed the murder but no and the twist at the end is very believable and understandable, the sister showed some evil aspects but it was subtle, it was better done than if they portrayed her like a pure and innocent child all the time about her behavior and actions.

I guess because the whole atmosphere of the manor was like a house of horrors, it could have been shocking if something we believed to be genuinely pure was really corrupted. Even as the sister was being poisoned, she seemed possessed. I never believed there was a happy ending to be found there even before the twist. Good show though!
