I have a quad sharp and a d-sharp. I love them both. My wife and I raise chickens and process 50 meat birds every 10-12 weeks in the warm months. Keeps my knife to put down the chickens very sharp as well as her boning knife at 17º each and her cleaver at 30º. My quad sharp gets the tougher jobs these days when something has been neglected and really needs work. I keep a set in my shop and one in my truck. Invaluable. Usually make a pass or two in the Lansky system on the finer grits every couple of months finishing with a strop just to keep them in top form. Several strops in the shop and one in my truck as well. We also process deer, goar, pig and beef here and the D-Sharp is always in my pocket.

Wow! Now that's some heavy-duty use! Hopefully I'll do a review on the C-Sharp and D-Sharp someday too.. My Quadsharp gets a lot of use too, and I like it a lot more than some of the other sharpeners I own.

Welcome back Dean! Ive been using a similar tool made by Camillus for a few years now and really like it. The biggest difference is that it has angles for scissors on the inside but only single V angles for knives.

Well, since this video a week ago I've been trying the Quadsharp on a lot of knives including my kitchen knives and it's fabulous. The multiple angles are why I got it, and it did a bang-up job on my Mora filleting knife as well as the big old Kershaw Camp 10. But wait till you see the big guns coming out soon. I just got a couple of new stones for the Lansky Deluxe kit so it's time for a demo.

Alberta Bushcrafter when my friend offered it to me for $150 I was already thinking of a hammock so jumped on it. Some of the stitching needed sealing, the velcro that holds on the fly specifically, and it was dirty but other than that I am pretty happy.

Did that come with straps? Good ones like ENO Atlas straps run about $30-35 and they're great.

Can you tell me if this would be good for a set of kitchen knives please
@AlbertaBushcrafter
@AlbertaBushcrafter 3 жыл бұрын
I have a very similar kitchen knife sharpener that's only one set of carbide rods at 20 degrees and it served me well for years till it wore out. So the QuadSharp would definitely work as this sharpener has slots for 15- and 20-degree blades. It's an aggressive sharpener, however, so use a light touch, and if you can, mount this sharpener in a vise or similar clamp to keep it more stable.

Can I get a roll out of an edge with this if it’s the only thing I have
@AlbertaBushcrafter
@AlbertaBushcrafter 4 жыл бұрын
It worked fine on one of my Mora knives when I rolled the edge on it, so it should work. Since there are only 4 angles on this sharpener, you would want to choose the angle closest to the current blade angle. This is a carbide sharpener, so it will take a roll out of an edge but it can be a bit aggressive too.

Alberta Bushcrafter I do have a lanskey puck stone and a rod sharpener, however I don’t think the rods will do that well and the stone is small and meant for axes

How did woodhow did get harder when it's in the air for years
@AlbertaBushcrafter
@AlbertaBushcrafter Жыл бұрын
Many woods increase in strength when they are seasoned. They get lighter. stronger and harder when the water evaporates. Some woods also have resins that harden as the moisture evaporates and that makes them very hard and strong. Yellow pine, for example, can become as tough as hard maple after 6 to 8 years.
