But Nehru's support for Hindu control of the holiest Buddhist shrine - Mahabodhi temple at Bodhgaya is still under Hindu majority despite being the Buddhist shrine. Nehru was a great democrat who promoted democracy and secularism. His economic policies were of failure as it was polluted by Soviet-style - mixed economy (communism + capitalism + license raj. Non Alignment movement and his foreign policies were of great failure. Nehru hated European colonialism but supported China's colonialism.

Dr. Sashi Taroor, I respect you immensely for the man you are and agree with you on Nehru. That doesn't mean Sonia or Rahul or Priyanka is any good to lead India. Indians are more educated nowadays, and they know the truth. If you are trying to cast the glory of Nehuruvian times onto Sonia, and project her as someone she is not, I am sorry to say, you have totally underestimated Indian population. Whatever she has done to India, is as bad as the damage done by colonial rule, which you often talk about. In fact, she totally reversed the good effects done by her predecessors. Dr. Manmohan Singh was a puppet PM, we don't want another one. If you can lead the country independently of Sonia's saree pallu, please go ahead. Otherwise please leave politics, because it's simply meaningless. In fact, she should apoligise to Indians for the colossal damage done by her and the corruption. Her son in law's story everyone knows. Sorry we Indians are not ready to sell India to Gandhi family. Congress is a sinking ship, because of Sonia and Rahul. If Rahul Gandhi write a PSC test for a sweeper position, I can challenge you he would not pass. And he wants to lead this country of immense socio economic, religious and geographical complexity!!!

Shashi Sir we like you very much as individual but we cant vote to Rahul Gandhi, Shahjada, Nehru Dynasty and his friends Lalu sons (Yadav Dynasty Bihar), Mulayam sons (Yadav Dynasty, UP), Mayawati, Mamta etc. Even we can go for NOTA but not congress and its ally. If you keep talking about Nehru and his dynasty. Shashi sir we, group of 50 persons, never never vote to Congress and its ally. WE ARE NOT SAFFRON. We hate (dont like) Congress Dynasty, will hate (dont like) always.

Nehru might have been a man of virtue but his insular idiosyncrasies, statist outlook and 'socialism' did 'not' bring much good to the nation! Besides these socialistic leaders as it is could not stop the elites from getting rich. The ones who would have become rich through capitalism, inevitably became so through corruption and, partiality and favouritism... Had they amassed wealth thr' capitalism, at least there would have been some progress!

Our soldiers died pathetically because Nehru didn't pay attention on arms and ammunition. We lost 62000 square km to China. Nehru was the reason why we have Kashmir problem today. Congress is the party whose politicians gave Bharat Ratna to themselves... And yeah, the choice was Sardar Patel, not Nehru. But Gandhi kept democracy aside and made Nehru the Prime Minister. Dirty politics and killers of democracy. Gandhi Nehru family has done substantial damage to India. That's why people do not want them anymore.
