Dude. His gold in the X games vert skate, where he clutch snatched the gold on his last run with all the pressure on him is such an underrated moment that shows just how much of a genius competitor he is. Like Tony Hawk said, Sean almost Needs that kind pressure to thrive - such an Inspiration. Also, props to Steve-O, just keeps getting better as an interviewer every time.

One of my favorite podcasts yet. I really appreciate Shawn sharing and Stevo were taking the time to do the interview of course. I really admire your parents they did such a good job. Coming from such a competitive society we rarely see anybody who makes it I mean really makes it. Shawn you definitely made it and then some ! You're level of integrity is so high mad respect. I went and watched the best of on yt since I basically missed all of it... (Terrible coverage from the networks your whole career) and I just wanted to say personally thank you for representing the United States and winning the gold in 2018 that was something I could never thank you enough. I know it wasn't a perfect run but it was still well more than enough... I felt bad for the others but that's the way it goes when you're a winner.

Not that these things matter, really (but also they kind of do, because if you're competing you're trying to win), but Shaun was never judged fairly doing vert skating contests. He was always judged as the snowboarder doing vert, even when he was doing tricks that NOBODY else doing. I watched many, MANY of those competitions and you could see his frustration (whether he'll ever admit it or not).

YES! WHITE!! This man has more talent in a clipped fingernail than many people that have been on this show - looking at you influencer nobodies. I love the talk about how progression has gotten to a point it flat out dangerous. I rememeber the XGames had Aggressive inline park and vert. In 2003ish those guys were going so huge with no ability to bail from tricks because their locked into a boot. You had to commit like few disciplines could. The Yasutoko brothers and guys like Shane Yost, Taig Kris, and Matt Lindenmuth going for triple backflips and 1260's was insane. The sport go to a point that falls were happening a lot and it wasnt viewed as good T.V. to watch so many slams. A part of why I think it was removed from the games. Blading was so gnarly back then. Kinda miss it being around. It should be included again.

The shame that comes with realizing that hating on Shaun was so dumb, isn't nothing. Crazy to realize my attitude toward him was the same that the skate "bros" had about Tony in the 80's, yet I've always been a fan of Tony, being a 90's kid myself. Now I know I was just lucky to share the park with Shaun when he shredded my home mountain. Great interview Steve-O!

I so relate to him automatically trying to catch his fall on his knees. I’m not a scatter, but I’ve ridden horses all my life. When you want the horse to stop, you pull back on both of your reins, so when I first started to drive a car, every time I needed to stop quickly, I kept trying to pull back on the fuckin steering wheel (I’d break too but still yank on the wheel out of muscle memory and instinct.) in Australia we get our learners (L plates, coz you have to have a yellow tag with a black L on the front and back of the car) at 16 and the first stage of our preliminary license (we call them red P’s coz you have to have a red tag with a P in it displayed on the front and back of the car) at 17, then at 18 you go to green P’s and at 20 you get your open license, but anyway I’d already been riding for over 11 years when I got my L’s so I had basically my lifetime of riding muscle memory to reverse when I was driving lol
