American who agrees. She's too connected to the royals for the serious anti-monarchy people to take her beyond her complaints, too against the monarchy and the Markles for anybody who believes strongly in family and loyalty and tradition, too narcissistic for any narcissistic whose purposes are at a cross to hers. The only people she's really got are the people who allow their compassion to override everything else and narcissists (in the short term) who are holding her up to normalize their own behaviour. Which after all is a fairly small percentage of the population. They are just unfortunately VERY LOUD.

My husband met a fascinating ex Etonian in Singapore last year in the course of a business deal. This chap was in the same year as Prince William & he reported over a fascinating long lunch conversation that William was a head down, non pretentious good sort of bloke, keen to fit in & a prince amongst MANY international princes who went to Eton, but he said that the younger brother was quite an upstart & quite unpopular at the school… Thought I would share just this little contributory anecdote which proves to me that Harry is jealous malicious little brother whose purpose is definitely to rise above his brother at any cost. The Markle connection has been a true meeting of the minds! Great conversation! 🫶🏽🦘🦘🦘🇦🇺🐨

Well that’s interesting and not at all surprising. Harry seems quote unpleasant just like his uncle A. Entitled and arrogant who thinks he deserves things for who he was born as, not what he contributes? That’s why both of them ask for special treatment and free security etc at the expense of the tax payer while they are no longer working royals? Harry wants it for his overseas based family which is even worse than Andrew who lives in the UK? I always got the impression from accounts and from observation that William is a serious guy. Harry is jealous and nasty. Thanks for sharing.

She logically constructs timelines and follows things back to their origins in a really clear and rational way, she brings in additional information from other reading that she's done - because she is not only widely read, but very retentive, so she puts things together brilliantly.

I suppose that depends on whether you believe it was actually meant to be about Invictus or about Meghan in the first place. Of the goal was to make Meghan seem special and like a princess, then it was a success, at least in the short term. I believe that was the actual goal and Invictus was merely an excuse to showcase Meghan as it has been for a few years.

What a great podcast today. I enjoyed having my morning coffee listening to it. One of the things that makes Shauna stand out is the fact that she actually does a lot of research. Her research skills are pretty amazing if you listen to some of her podcasts, whether, the Royals or anything else. It’s apparent that she reads a lot of different sources, combs the Web, and presents sometimes perplexing but very interesting theories about things and that is the sign of a good critical thinker. I for one look will forward to a regular appearance as one of your guests. By the way, I am from the US.

The exception to your great comment is Trump. It seems unlikely that he could have ever been elected president the first (hopefully ONLY) time if he had not been on The Apprentice, which gave him name recognition and created the fable of him being a great businessman. Even though Hillary Clinton won the popular vote in 2016, it's astounding that enough voters fell for the illusion Trump created on a TV show to have tipped the electoral college in his favor.

Maybe she cozy ups to some of the big folks but I know they see right through her. The last incident where Gavin new son came to her defense was politically motivated for himself - he’s running for governor again against his AG and needed to make him wrong. There is another explanation that Gordon Getty intervened.
@katemyer1955

She exploited all of Ken Sunshine’s connections when she was with his PR firm. Remember Hillary saying she met with Megan, and the fake tour of NY where they met with DiBlasio? And lobbying the U.S. senate using her UK title and a $5 Starbucks card? Gavin Newsome making a bs statement about their public charity. Not to mention the voting speech she & Harry recorded. I think she wants to be in politics, but as usual, doesn’t want to do the hard work.
@katemyer1955
@katemyer1955 2 ай бұрын
I think Meg wants to be in politics, but isn’t interested in doing the hard work. Ken Sunshine, of SunshineSachs- her former PR company, is extremely heavily connected in the DNC. That is how she got Hillary to mention her name, met DiBlasio, connected with the NY senator Gillibrand to lobby using her UK title and a $5 Starbucks card, bought that award from Andrew Cuomo’s ex-wife, Kerry Kennedy, got Liz Garbus to direct the NF show, and met Gloria Steinem. I’m guessing she burned her bridges with Sunshine, which is why Eric Adams didn’t stick with the line about the catastrophic car crash, and why she’s been cozying up to Newsom instead of the NY based politicos as of late. I don’t think she could win a school board seat with the Santa Barbara County at this point, but I would actually respect the effort if she did.

Aussie here. The art of civilised disagreement, indeed. A very enjoyable podcast with Shauna, who is well-informed, fair and articulate. A monthly catch-up sounds great. I think Harry is completely fine with what Meghan does; in many ways, she acts out his true thoughts and feelings. I find surrogacy plausible. Harry and Meghan have demonstrated ruthlessness when it comes to the family and getting what they want. I can also see them simply playing games with the media. That said, Meghan crouching in a deep squat at 8 months cannot be explained.

Most Americans had no idea who Meghan Markle was before the announcement that she was engaged to Harry. When reports said Harry was marrying the American actress, the vast majority of us asked, "Who?" She's on Suits. "What's Suits?" Then we learned it was a cable TV series. Most people shrugged. Obviously she wasn't a household name. I believe she still isn't. Meghan supporting Biden? Well, I'm afraid that won't win him many points. Let's face it, Meghan is no Grace Kelly, but she may be closer in popularity to Mrs. Wallis Simpson.

A large portion of Americans simply don’t care about the Harkles at all, nor are they interested in the Royal family. Another large portion do not like them because of their behaviors, sense of entitlement, and lack of family values. In fact, many Americans are sick of celebrities sticking their nose into politics and endorsing candidates.

Do you mean the British royal family are entitled and have no family values? They are heavily scrutinised by the public and their accounts are open book. Their work schedule is packed and easily involve public and charity services more than 300x a year, many of them over 60 years of age. The late queen and the king welcome world leaders for the uk and do more good in the commonwealth. They are much loved by the brits than most politicians, celebs and KOL who doesn’t really contribute to society. So please don’t let Harry and his wife make you think this is what the British royals behave.

Loved this interview, thank you! One thing I think many of us have noticed about Harry and Meghan is just how messy they are in every venture they do. Regardless of the amazing circles they get to be part of just from Harry’s status alone, it’s the fact they have such a hard time utilising such amazing opportunities & it comes across as their “right” not their “luck” to be grateful for. Especially when we hear so much about how late to events they are, how they don’t value the time of others as they think their presence is enough. This is why they ring so hollow for so many.

I agree there’s definitely something to the theory that Harry found in Meghan the perfect enabler, excuse, and yes - weapon - to unleash his pent-up rage and in meting maximum damage to his family. Not only to score one for his late mother, but also to settle work-related grievances (e.g., I believe he felt it unfair that the best projects went to his brother).

But isn't it so unreasonable and childish, at nearly 40, not to come to some understand of his parent's relationship? She was badly let down but she was a Royalist and heavily manipulated the media. Does he respect that? Wonder just what points he thinks he's scoring with any of it. I think he'll grow old full of regrets, but of course he'll need to grow up on the way. He looks miserable more often than not.

I agree with all that you've said. I have a theory to add. Before Harry met Meghan and while the fab 3 were close (Harry, Catherine, William), you can clearly see the infatuation Harry had for Catherine. If you look at the photos you often see him gazing at her, in that special way, when Catherine and William couldn't see him. He often positioned himself beside, and perhaps a half foot behind Catherine. Then Meghan comes along. Has anyone ever noticed the similarity between her and the Princess? I have, this is only my own observation. Same height, same hair, same face shape, same build, and a few more. I think Harry thought "ah, here, my very own Kate". Besides, the sex was probably intense as it would have been a big draw. However, it was probably soon withdrawn. Prince Stupid marries Evil. Meghan changes right away and exposes her true colors. Proceeds to create chaos. Prince Stupid doesn't catch on, he's still in 7th heaven.6 years later now. Is Prince Stupid still infatuated or are his eyes slowly opening up and is his lazy, hazy brain starting to realize that something is wrong but being stupid, Prince Stupid still can't quite put his finger on it? Maybe it's coming to him that his wife isn't like Kate at all.

I came here from Heretics and I’m also a sub of Shauna. I’ve almost gone through your back catalogue. I absolutely love the respect everyone shows to differing opinions. Phil, you will be the outsider supporting MM. Most of us see her as a very disturbed personality with a transparent agenda. Sure other royals have monetised their connection to the RF but what really upsets us is her treatment of both families - discarded completely. Their poor children have now been isolated from their larger family relationships, forever. Who does that? She is a very nasty person and Harry has lost a great deal from his relationship with her. Her treatment of elderly family members is also very troubling. We have all seen this and it will be impossible for them to rebrand after this. Time, in this case, will not change our opinion.

But not just that Marianne. There are stronger arguments. Such as, none of the other royals are ABUSING royal titles for their own PERSONAL financial and reputational GAIN. They are not actively PROMOTING THEMSELVES. Markle is. Furthermore, none of the other royals have packed up and fled to another country under false pretences. Markle has. Not only has she used false accusations of discrimination against people to enact her own personal vendetta, but she doesn't reside in England, is not a British citizen, and has abandoned her duties. Doesn't bother to acknowledge the Sussex county. Doesn't understand the significance of her title. There's a lot more to this.

I came here after Shauna mentioned the interview on her channel. Shauna is great; balanced, intelligent, fun, does her homework and just such a joy to watch in all her formats. I thought Andrew was ok for a leftie, but I do think Phil is so pro mm that he can't see what is in front of him. I may check in again, certainly if Shauna is in again. I did like the interaction with all 3 of you and the balanced and respectful way you interacted considering the different opinions. That in itself was very refreshing. To see differing view points without people getting in a lather was wonderful. A main reason why I stay away from some channels - I truly detest that people can't express differing opinions without one or the other getting aggressive. Hope your channel does well.

What a fantastic conversation to listen to. Such a treat. Phil tell your friends in Australia Meghan did something similar here to visiting people at the Australian fires. When the school shooting in Uvalde happened Meghan hightailed it to Texas… with a Netflix camera crew. Look at the pictures of her looking at the video of her laying flowers at the school to make sure they got good footage. That is their problem. They aren’t genuine. Everything they do is performative. At this point you can’t say Harry isn’t. He’s using Invictus as his ticket to “bigger and better” things like Nigeria.

Another general comment on YT was from someone who lives in California at the time they had a natural disaster. One local famous person (they gave the name, but I don't remember it) got his friends together, bought a bunch of meat and spent all night barbequing it-- taking turns tending the smoker. In the morning, Meghan turned up with a $20 salad and made sure she got plenty of photos. The detail in this person's story made it sound authentic, and it would be in keeping with Meghan's past actions. She is selling her "brand" as a caring person. It is all about her image, not any real actions.

You three are a very good mix, this was very enjoyable thank you 👏 Regarding the pregnancy rumours, one thing that I do find interesting is that there are countless videos and comments on the internet that dismiss both pregnancies as fake and that insist the Sussex children are surrogate births or even that they’re hired child actors and for how litigious Harry and Meghan are, they have never even threatened to sue anyone that makes the videos or comments about them. Also, Harry has spoken about the rumours that he’s not Charles real son and how the stories made him feel, yet he’s seemingly allowing rumours about his own children to spread and fester around the world. It’s a bizarre situation that neither Harry nor Meghan are attempting to fix x

I am a recent subscriber to Shauna's channel, so I migrated to your podcast to hear your interview with her. I really enjoyed it - well done! I agree with you, Phil, that people have seemed to have lost the ability to disagree with each other without becoming judgmental and disagreeable. Civil debate is quite healthy, and I often seek out people that I may disagree with, because I usually find that I learn something new and interesting. I think our colleges and universities need to concentrate on teaching the art of effective debating. I also believe that many of our schools missed an opportunity with the recent pro-Palestinian protests to nurture and encourage its students to engage in an open dialogue. Too often we hunker down in our personal echo-chambers and refuse to consider other viewpoints and opinions. I'm definitely going to check out some of your other podcasts. P. S. As an American, I respectfully disagree with you, Phil, on Harry's "43% Nigerian" wife's popularity in the U.S. Most people I know cannot tolerate her and actually admire the royal family (which is quite unexpected considering our past history in breaking away from Britain - LOL)!
