Start shaving with a quality safety razor with a good blade, and improve your shaving technique, make sure you moisturize your face properly. Most guys saying that they get irritation or have sensitive skin actually do not how to shave at all.

I switched to safety razor about 15 years ago and it's like night and day. I highly recommend to throw out the cartridge razor. Having more than one blade really just irritates the skin and you have a more control and comfort with a safety razor in my opinion and a pack of 10 blades is usually less than 2$cdn compared to the pack of 4 cartridges that generally go for 30-40$cdn. Thanks for the video I have been using soap but going to try the cream to see if it's better 😁

One of my and my son's favorites is the same brand of yours in the blue and white tube. I also like the one in an orange tube with a windmill on it. If I want to get a real close shave, I like the soap and bowl lather an a nice brush for face and heaad.

@mechantl0up
@mechantl0up 5 жыл бұрын
You certainly do not want to use a latherless gel for safety-razor shaving, since you will consume too much gel for a multi--pass shave. Use a soap or good, concentrated traditional shave cream. The slickness and protection will be unmatched. And if you can facelather with a brush, even better. The difference in performance will be day and night.

@@TheFrontyer I use fusion 5 and mach 3, although both have multiple blades, those blades are a fraction of millimeter inside the boundary of the blade, so there no contact of steel with the skin (unless you are pressing too hard or going too fast), even though the shave is so close because the blade pulls and cuts the hair at the same time, and the preceding blades cuts the already pulled hair and thus giving a closer shave, if you will go too fast you may pull the skin also to get the cut, whereas in a safety razor the blade is always in contact with the skin which causes razor burns

I'm currently trying out the Defender cartridge razor and I used Cremo for the first 2 shaves, but it left my skin irritated so I just tried a shaving gel and it seems to be a better marriage. It could be that my skin is just a bit more sensitive or the more basic way the razor cartridge is designed and the gel/way it lathers provides a bit more protection from it, but it is a 3 blade cartridge razor that have the blades a bit more spaced out and some flexibility..... Not the same for sure, but seems similar To the Leaf and I'll bet they both cut similarly too! So give a good shaving gel (like from a can) a try instead. Niva has a bunch of options, maybe give them a try and go from there if the gel style does end up being an improvement for you. Good luck!

@campagnollo 5 жыл бұрын
From a former 68W(medic) who frequently seen shaving ailments, I can help you along. If speed is your thing, go with shaving oils. Plain olive oil or jojoba oil if you're cheap. Just a few drops will do ya. No need for shaving cream in this case. I would also upgrade your razor to a safety razor, either a Merkur 34c HD or Edwin Jagger DE89 with Astra blades, Derby blades if you want to be careful. You might be slow at first from the learning curve, the safety razors don't have pivoting heads, but will soon take as much time as the Fusion. Shave with down and side strokes for the closest shave without risk. As you've said, no up strokes. Also, a good aftershave helps keeps your skin in shape after the trauma of shaving. Follow these suggestions and you'll show up to inspection baby faced and at 1600 hrs as well.

Probably a very expensive one, too, since you need to rub that gel for every pass... which will deplete any tube very quickly. Good video, but he missed on a few things for sure. The first big thing he misses on is his "rule", a shave cream must make your skin supple. I think the more accurate term is slickness. The most important part of a "shave cream" is slickness, and truly that is all that matter. If you are a shower shaver that uses cart razors, you can simply use hair conditioner like OGX, it works perfect. A slick hair conditioner is better than canned "shave cream". The canned "creams" are canned air and chemicals, it's bad. Slickness is all you need....I haved shaved using glycerin bar soap. I have also shaved with coconut oil and it worked fine. You just need slickness, that's it. I am a head and face shaver and I like using the hard soap shave pucks most. Shave soaps in hard puck format like Tabac last a LONG time and work great just by adding water to the lather. In my opinion everyone should be shaving with a safety razor. Cartridge razors are expensive, bad for your skin, and they are TERRIBLE for the environment. Folks, please stop using cartridge razors. At least use a DE safety razor. If you are transitioning from cartridge razors to safety razor I suggest these three razors in order. #1. Henson AL13 mild #2 TWIG safety razor by Leaf #3 Rockwell 6C.

Soap is best for md. Closest shave ever. Just. Normal nivea soap. Wet face first to open pores. Then soap away closest shave ever, bar none.

Am I the only one who laughed out loud (assuming this is (like me) your first video from him that you’re seeing? It’s called for MEN, and then he starts talking and while I expected him to sound like that, it’s still funny to see a channel with a name that includes “MEN” and hear someone who sounds more like a WOman or a homosexual (to be fair for all intents and purposes they’re the same exact thing IMO) instead of a MAN!! I mean I don’t really care that he’s gay, I was simply pointing out the irony that’s all!!
