Using the PHILLIPS ONE BLADE razor to do a full HEAD SHAVE.
Welcome to Baldcafe and to the video. Whilst back in England recently I decided to pick up the Phillips one blade razor. I was curious to find out if it could replace my traditional wet shave with a razor.
Since going bald I have been shaving my head for the last year. Although I was really impressed with the razor it is not as close of a shave as traditional wet shaving. This razor is great if you haven't shaved your head for a long time or if you usually buzz you head with clippers and want a closer shave.
Bald cafe is dedicated to helping guys deal positively with their baldness once and for all.

Bro thank you for the confidence that you have shared through your videos in this channel. Finally today I had the guts to shave my head completely without any worry. Getting really good feedback from everyone. Thank you all who have shared their stories in this channel. I was facing hair loss for a long time and was trying to hide using caps or hair spray. Feeling super free today. Thank you!! Love from (Kolkata)India

This is the best review of this blade I've found. Thank you for not spending 20 minutes just to shave in front of the camera without properly showing the results after. I would have loved to see a side by side comparison with a regular razor shave, but this is great. Thank you!

Just used this for my first "head shave". I must say I am impressed with how much hair this tiny thing can handle and how close the shave is. Also very little irritation, the blade does not get super hot which causes irration with other electric razers for me.

I'm using a Whal Peanut for more than 25 years. Daily. The same clipper. I changed the blade twice. If you clean and oil it regularly I don't see it fail on me. I'm 47 and I'm shaving my head since I'm 20. Very close shave, very powerful, small, corded (I hate weak battery devices), not hair pulls, no bumps. To me nothing comes close to it. Sometimes I finish it off with a single blade safety razor on special occasions but for day to day life, Whal Peanut it the best on the market.

I have been shaving my head with one blade three times a week & its been 8 months & 2 weeks now, I'm on the same blade. I have to say that I always wet shave that is moist scalp put the shaving gel on wait for 2 min & 2 passes & done. Let me tell you this is the closest shave I've got with a trimmer & I have an andis t-outliner corded with deeptooth GTX blade zero gapped by andis zero gapper tool & one blade gives you closer shave than andis when shaved wet with zero maintenance no oiling nothing just get in the shower shave & done. I'm so glad I did not go for the andis t-outliner cordless, one blade shave is closer wet & about the same dry. Since when did we decide to do what the company tells us to do? If they have it their way they will tell us to change blades every shave. These blades lasts more that 4 months at least for me & I have thick coarse hair on my head. If you're backing out of one blade because of the 4 months blade replacement chances are you wont replace your blade for at least 8 months or more. My first blade is been giving me the same performance as I had got it for the first time no bluntness or skipping of hair still 2 passes & done. I have bought the pro version now but using the same old blade from the first one. Bottom line you don't have to change blades every four months & for longevity of blades may be wet shave. Sorry for the long reply.

Andy Roth, do you have consistent results? Based on your tip I switched to shaving wet with the one blade (shaving dry resulted in a dull blade within 2 months). I had some good results in the beginning, but after one month the result is not so smooth anymore. The blade is not turning green or anything. Out of frustration I took my saftey razor and shaved my skull. I am curious how my skull looks tomorrow, since since I had always problem with shaving bumbs before I had a beard.

The best combo would be to cut the hair down with the GTX and finish it off with the one blade. The GTX is a trimmer while the One blade works amazingly as a balder/shaver to finish it off! Thats my combination for my facial hair and that would probably be an amazing combo for head shaving too and it would help those razors last too.

@@bri83 If anyone sees this... I don't love my Bodygroom (it sometimes pulls, gets clogged w/ hair) but I generally do my head with that first and then go over everything (especially tougher spots like behind the ears, and top of my head where Bodygroom stuggles with my much thinner hair) with the OneBlade to finish. I get a 3 pack of blades, after using a brand new one on my neck X number of times it becomes a head blade. My neck is most sensitive but if I only use the OneBlade to finish my head it's still sharp enough to last awhile. That way I can extend their life by using duller ones in less sensitive areas. When my newest blade is nearing the point I wont want to use it on my neck anymore I order a new 3pack. Probably every 2.5mos? I'd say i probably tend to shave this way about every 4-5 days. The Bodygroom is then still good for like your back/arms/chest kinda stuff. Oh I also think the OneBlade is pretty good for mustache trimming.

Exactly. When I used it on my head hair 2 times, worked very well, no irritation at all. But I could already see how blunt and shabby blades went. It lasts me 3-6 months on my beards, but for my head hair, it would probably last 3-5 uses.

When buzzing my head with this I found the length great but the blades didn't last very long. I was having to change every 3-4 shaves before it started 'pulling' at hair follicles rather than cutting them. Opposed to the 3 months it suggests. Not a criticism of your video as you're very informative. More just my real-world experience
@ivanbaran3730

Same. It is only 3-4 months for beards because you are not going to use it every two days like for hair. The blade is to soft for hair and it gets dully really fast.

The product is meant as a beard trimmer. It works good enough if you are shaving every couple of days/a few times a week. It needs some extra time if you haven't shaved in about a month. It's not the best product ever but it helps me limit my visits to the barbershop to once every three months or so once I'm growing a beard and that's because I suck at shaping it.

I used the same shaver. It was TERRIBLE for me. It would refuse to shave my back hair to the same length at the front hair, so I had to press it down really hard in order to have all of my hair be even. The blade has problems staying in the holder. It easily falls out without you having to use the button to get it out; it would just randomly fall out while I am shaving.

I have just tested the oneblade thanks to you. I bought it 29€ from the local supermarket. The shave is pretty close. I would say around 0.5mm with the bare blade. It's actually for beards, but works as well for the balding man's close shave. The cut is not as close as with a mechanical razor, but closer would trigger irritation anyway. I wished you did a video on head skin care (lotions or whatever). Exposing the skin to the sun may have consequences.

Sorry a bit late the the video, Like you I normally wet shave every 3 to 4 days, would the one blade be an adequate replacement to the standard wet shave in terms of closeness?
@Baldcafe

It doesn't get quite as close unfortunately. If you want as close as possible stick with the wet shaving 👍

Listen to ur conscious.. it’s all u have to offer anyone.. ur mind.. use it.. don’t let it use u.. learn to meditate it will help u notice thoughts instead of getting caught up in every thought u have.. so u get super emotional? That’s simply u focusing ur thoughts on negative emotion.. enough tho.. listen to me or don’t.. u will find that what I’ve told u is true later in life.. better to start today to use ur mind right. I really want to try this. I started losing my hair a few years ago due to alopecia so I prefer to keep my head bald and I love it but when I went to look up the one blade it seems like there’s different model numbers QP something something is there a specific model number that I need for this one? And if this turns out to be a dumb question, thank you for at least answering my dumb question 😊

Hey which product in your honest opinion is best, I avoid wet shaving because of the irritation but use clippers twice a week as I like my hair to be as short as possible. I am looking to invest at the minute which product would you say is king in terms of clippers/this (cordless preferably) Thanks
@Baldcafe
@Baldcafe 3 жыл бұрын
Honestly I like the Surker clippers from Amazon. I’ve got the golf ones. They are a fantastic all rounder. If you want a closer shave you’ll need to get an electric shaver. My favorite is the Remington RX5 👍

I have to say I purchased the one blade after this at it was absolutely terrible. It does not cut close at all and takes forever because of how tiny the blade is. My Brain facial shaver works so much better and get that baby smooth in most areas, obviously Doesn’t last as long as wet shaving. I wanted an omniblade but can’t get them unless I pay. £40 for one. I did just happen to see in the women’s section they have a dual sided razor for £5 which I’m going to try tonight by Wilkinson sword
@Baldcafe

Oh no way! I'm sorry you had a bad experience with it for the product that it is and its price I was actually really impressed by it. It could be a preference thing. I hope you manage to find the ideal shaving solution for yourself. I had to play around with many many razors before I found my favourites.

I Started to shave my head and face with this and the blade lasted me like 1 month and 2 weeks since each blade costs 12,5€ i think this is not worth it. Just ordered HeadBlade moto kit and I can give an update in the coming weeks if anyone is interested
@Baldcafe
@Baldcafe 5 жыл бұрын
*nocturnallynumb* yeah let us know how you get on with it. Although I’d say 12 euros is pretty comparable to buying razor heads each month. I have to replace my wet shave razor heads about every 3 shaved. About 8 a month which is a lot more than 12 euros unfortunately but I do get the closest shave that way.

I stopped using the One Blade to shave my head because I ended up taking way too much time to do the job when I used it for speed at first. It may be because the blade was used up, and if its the case its not worth it for me financially. Im gonna try safety razor next week, wish me luck boys ! (PS : even though I stopped using it for the head, the One Blade does wonders for "shaving" my face or trimming the beard. Would still recommend to at least try it to anyone that's hesitating)
@n0cturn2l
@n0cturn2l 5 жыл бұрын
@@azeaze9627 you might have a hard time shaving your head with a safety razor, not only is pressure sensitive you also have to make the perfect angle all the time for it to cut without irritation, also it will take much longer than oneblade trust me. Oneblade to shave my face is ok but my neck is a mess since my hairs lay flat and I have to pass over and over again for it to cut.

I love all the recommendations here but this one is really bad. I bought this a few days ago and this razor is just a huge frustration. It gives you super clean shave super quick, leaving few strands of hair here and there...then you can spend an hour trying to get those strands, bigger chance you will peel off your skin or even bones, but this razor will not even touch those strands it had left , even if you move your hand in like 5th dimension. And to add to that , blade will worn out faster than you think.
