And THIS is what true pastors and watchmen are made of... I remember Pastor Shawn from his early days as the very young host of - It Is Written. His style and delivery of God's Word were,as now, fresh and edifying. I never missed an episode every Sunday morning. This presentation on" the Temptations of Jesus presented here in this small series, gave a new & fresh perspective on why I now I should love Jesus Christ all the more. It helps me understand a bit of why Paul quotes Isaiah , when he exclaims in 1Cor.2:9-"...Eye hath not seen,nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him." Happy Sabbath to you Pastor Shawn and yours and to one all who've been touched by this refreshing message. Oh that we would have many more Pastors like this.

I always found it interesting how Joshua and Caleb were the only two from Egypt that made it to the promised land, their names mean, the salvation of the lord, and faithful, telling me that as soon as I get down to just those two things, I get out of the wilderness.

Amazing, wonderful study. Rev 19, 22 angel says to worship God! First study of yours, bible clearer from this, but will have to redo, new Christians take longer.

I do like the programs, I do share them with people and on social media...but as I lead an evening worship group every night, I cannot watch it live, but I do watch it after we finish our worship time. I have noticed since the summer break, however, that the program is interrupted by commercials. Not VOP promotions, but secular commercials. Yes, even this evening. Please, can you turn them off so we can watch this from Friday sundown until Saturday sundown (yes, the Sabbath) without the world encroaching in on worship time? Please? "Jesus wept"? Over Lazurus' failure/foilables? Lazurus didn't know how to make his consciousness small and evade the deadly pestilence.

It's unfortunate that folks cannot see the poetry and beautiful metaphorical machinery of Genesis (a story laid down before we possessed any sophisticated understanding of biology and evolution). The story of The Garden and Adam and Eve is an ancient telling of the ascent of man --- from his beginnings as a pre-tech creature with limited reasoning skills to an animal that stood on its hindlegs, looked at the horizon and upward at least as much as looking at the ground, and could reason sufficiently to use rocks and sticks as tools. The exit from Eden was the ascent from limited awareness and the stupor of irrationality. The Serpent's temptation of Eve was the spark of self-awareness and rationality that lifted Man from primitive existence. Genesis (very ironically so!) IS the story of evolution! This is really remarkable --- pre Darwin thinkers INTUITED in broad outline the story of Man's evolution and communicated that hypothesis in the available, non-scientific language (Genesis of The Bible). Sadly, the ascent of Man has been linked in this and subsequent Biblical accounts to Evil and Man's failing --- but not to the ascent (towards morality) itself. The negative spin on the concept of ascent has echoed through the ages --- and we're still in a state of confusion about it (thanks to the likes of Boonstra et al who profit from the confused state of the audience).

I look at this story much differently than I did before. We see Satan offer something in return for some adoration. What's interesting is the one called Devil does not demand to be worshiped. He does not say worship me or else this or that. It is God who does demand worship and complete devotion. Questions is: Why does God have to demand worship?. For such devotion would not be genuine if it comes by command, or out of fear of consequences for refusing. Interesting contrast.

Satan certainly had a very high ego if he thought he could get God to worship him. 🙄

Satan wanted human creation to give him what was morally entitled to God. Namely, Worship. Satan tried to derail Jesus' mission with enticements. Jesus' reply. (Matthew 4:10) Then Jesus said to him: “Go away, Satan! For it is written: ‘It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service.’” Jesus was quoting Deuteronomy 6:13. Jesus as would other obedient creations of God, will only worship the Creator.

Interesting comments on child sacrifice an attempt to rid the earth of the Messiah. I liken abortion to be the modern equivalent of BAAL worship. The spiritual meaning is the same "give up you r future to get what you want to day". Also the idea of artificial paradise made me think of what I learned about Las Vegas a few years ago. The casinos aren't in the actual city but just outside in the county where the taxes are lower. And the name of the area is 'Paradise'.

The old 'free will' trope used as a catch all excuse for the judaic gods obsession for worship and permitting of evil,suffering etc. Why even allow any of the old testament to occur, for a start, when a single thought from god would,and could, create heaven on Earth then, for ever.Noone need be destroyed by the 2nd death. Why allow all the drama? Hebraic mythology at its apex. I enjoy these shows all the same.Shawn is an excellent presenter/writer, as per his beliefs and remit. Btw there is no real evidence regarding sacrifice of humans to MOLOCH.Just writings

Ironically, Satan's suggestion that Jesus (um, God --- ok weird, yeah) take a short cut by WORSHIPPING HIM (Satan) highlights precisely what is so deeply upsetting and wrong about all that Boonstra et al. are asking of the listener --- i.e., go with me, take the short cut of belief, don't fret with the hassle of determining right from wrong yourself or using your own reasoning skills to outline and life a moral life, worship God and all of that will not longer be required of you. It's straightforward to turn this entire story on its head and point out Christianity is asking YOU to do precisely what Satan asked of Jesus --- cast aside your troubling questions, embrace worship, and the world will be given back to you. Take the short cut, dispose of reasoning and evidence --- believe and you will be saved. It's right there --- on the page.

The Yahwist (Genesis Chapter 1) was a woman? What is that based on? It seems very far-fetched in a macho ancient Hebrew society.

Why is the origin of evil such a mysterious thing or hard to determine if one accepts (as Christians do) that their God is the God of the Three O's? If God has created everything --- well, Evil is part of everything. Sorry folks, but you've cornered yourselves --- the origin of Evil is plainly God Himself. Period, end of story. QED. Yep: goobledeegook.

Sorry, but I see the word "planet" and a "globe" and graven images on a cross. No one knows what Jesus looks like. I do not see a Prophet nor a Biblical teacher. Enoch (Priest & Prophet)

Wait wait wait --- God, the creator of all things (which includes Satan, Evil, all that) has Satan (His creation, back to the three-O's) tempt HIMSELF (relying on Boonstra's mantra that Jesus IS God). This sounds like a bad screenplay with plot holes.

So in short, God created an Angel dumb enough (and destined by divine design from the beginning) to try to be God (and knew what this errant Angel would seek). Terrible plot. The Hobbit makes infinitely more sense, seriously.

Boonstra (as do other preachers) picks and chooses when to pull from the Bible figurative or metaphorical content --- and when to insist it's content is literal, dancing between the relationship of symbols across books and drawing upon literal historicity when necessary. More gobbledeegook.
