No one- before or since- and that includes Simone- has ever TUMBLED on the beam like she did or been so consistent. Her 2008 routine was a BEAST, and so beautifully executed time after time.

Endlich mal jemand der auch S. B. kritisch sieht. Wenn man die Punkte sieht, die Shawn und Nastja erzielt haben, kann Simone sich 2024 nur verstecken. Ich finde, dass sie sehr nachgelassen hat. Für mich ist Simone inzwischen die Beste von den Schlechten. Sie hat unglaubliches geleistet. Aber jetzt macht sie viele Fehler und gewinnt weil sie diesen großen Namen hat. Ich habe sie am Boden gesehen, da ist sie in einer Übung 3 x Mal über den Mattenrand. Abgezogen wurde ihr nur einmal was. Andere Turnerinnen haben dann keine Chance mehr auf eine Medaille. Sie gewinnt.

Aesthetic routine. Her best Balance Beam would have to be at Beijing 2008 Team finals. That was absolutely superb. Shawn, Nastia and the 2008 Chinese team-Goddesses of Artistic Gymnastics.

What I love about Shawn Johnson is that she always smiles after her routines, she's such a spirited optimistic girl, love it. I wish she would have gone to the London Olympics, and I'm sure if her knee would have not given her problems, she would have made the team!!

This isn't a comment specifically towards Shawn, but I despise all the arm movements they have to include in beam routines. IMO it's over the top and takes away from the grace and flow of gymnastics. Also, it makes me feel like they might break into a cheer at any moment.

They're so heavy footed though. It's impossible for them to remain elegant when they get older and heavier. I prefer the younger gymnasts because they're so light on their feet and their routines flow nicely.

This routine is of Olympic quality...no doubt about it. For a sec was like, isn't this from the '08 Olympics? lol. Shows what hard work, determination, and absolute focus can help you accomplish. Had she not had her skiing accident, she WOULD have been in the '12 Olympics...with THIS routine.
