The way he lunged in and got hit was painful to watch. Would either get hit bad or get cut bad lunging in until his very last fights. To his credit he made lunging in work sometimes but later on in his career it hurt him bad.

Always felt Shawn had the right stuff, from the first time I saw him speak after his loss to Crawford. First, he's a natural and doesn't press too hard. Secondly and maybe this should be first - he's extremely perceptive and not just about boxing. The way he described what the atmosphere at the MGM is likely to be like - was knowledgeable about ethnicity. He gets it! He deserves a broader platform, so he can grow and we can hear what other wisdom dwells in his head

And congratulations to Ryan and Tank for making this fight happen. You're giving to the boxing fans rather than just thinking about belts. It would be better for all if boxing got rid of the belts. Belts are a distraction, in my opinion.

I disagree with either of them Losing causes a strain on their career.. When you're an A level or Elite fighter, fighting another A level or Elite fighter doesn't create a negative on their career.. Hagler, Hearns, Ray, Ali, Tyson, Forman, Cotto, Pac even Porter.. All has L's but it didn't diminish their greatness. The Best are fighting the Best and this is how we get Great trilogies and back to back Great fights.

One of the best in his generation is saying it how it should be. To the next generation that's coming up and bettering the sport. It's not the lost or the win it's the fight and the way the fighters fight that fight. Is what determines which way their boxing career and legacy in the sport is going. Fans want explosion and action-packed fights, and if they end in a knockout, it's a plus.

Tank is 5'5" and Ryan is 5'10". Tank is 135lb, Ryan is 140lb division. Ryan's taller than Errol, he's a bigger bulkier guy now than before. Tank's a smaller guy, but this is what the fans want, this what Ryan wants., still make it make sense. There's a reason for weight classes, especially on that level.

@@boxscreen7829 Some fighters rehydrate 20 to 25lbs overnight, some steroids, some both, glove tampering., Ellerbe said it had nothing to do with Tank, it was his promoters. Obviously they're onto something.. it's still within their right. A 135pounder should be able to fight somewhere around 135lbs

Very enlightening. Shawn always brings great perspective. Great question from the interviewer concerning why include rehydration, and even better answer. It’s a “legal” edge. It’s not PEDs or plastered hand wraps. It’s weight that Ryan is clearly managing if he’s already 5lbs off. My hope is that the fight is so entertaining that weight and belts and all the other pre fight discussion points are forgotten.

If a fighter takes a loss in boxing "fans", casuals and the media are too quick to write them off. Other combat sports like Muay Thai, K1, MMA etc. don't abandon their athletes.

Absolutely 100% agreed. I think it’s because of how much of a show boxing is. Like there’s a hyper focus on this fight. Whoever wins people are gonna remember whoever loses people will remember….. for now. Look back at some of the absolute classic fights in history. Leonard vs. Hagler or Hagler vs. Hearns both times.

It’s called the Mayweather effect, everyone sees mayweathers sales so they want to copy it, what was the main thing they talked about during promotion, he was undefeated. So now every fighter wants to plump up there record Vs bums to stay undefeated, and you can’t blame fighters because like you said soon as they lose they’re garbage. Look at canelo, he was the king for at least 5 years since mayweathers been gone, and he loses to Bivol going up in weight and now they drag canelos name like he’s not a all time great.

Long time boxing fan, Shawn is 100% right I really wanted to see a fight for a title at stake, and to hear that they are fighting for no reason just money really changes depending on whether I’ll even buy the fight or not…. Fighters with something to lose , I mean, if I’m fighting because I buy extra hard, because I have something to lose??? this would I pay for, I don’t understand buying a fight with nothing to lose. Yeah, this is very troubling. So is it going to be a 10 round fight? that even makes a difference there’s no championship rounds because there’s no championship at stake correct.

I really like Davis but to see him acting like a juvenile here with this fight is petty and stupid. He’s a 28 years old man acts like a child I do want to see him lose now he is no Floyd Mayweather, that he is trying to replicate. Floyd was classy Gervonta Davis’s clearly is not. Maybe he is trying to increase revenue I don’t know, but I’m not a fan any longer. He showed himself to be a child trapped in a man’s body. The way, he puts stipulations on other fighters in his benefit or he will find somebody else useless to fight he’ll probably be around a long time.. mark my words he is at a crossroads now..
