The great thing about this song/video is that while performing Smooth Criminal, the video pays tributes to multiple MJ songs

Michael Jackson loved this cover plus he loved Weird Al Yankovic's parodies of his songs too.

MJ came to their live show the year this album came out and sung that song with them and told them they are only band to make that song their own style with respect.

They showed Michael Jackson before they released it and he loved it!

The weird thing, the kid doing the MJ moves is wearing a facemask, people are so immune to it now you don't realize it was a tribute to MJ who always wore them.

The chimp is wearing a diaper, like Bubbles, Michael's chimp, did. And they're sitting in a sequined glove that Michael used to wear 3:49 The sidewalk lights up wherever they are stepping. Throwback to Billie Jean. 4:11 Straight from the extended version of the video for Black or White. Michael jumped on the car, did that, and then destroyed the car. 4:21 King of the hill guys with the Thriller moves. 4:25 Michael always stood on that vent to have the air blow up from under him. Michael Jackson And alien ant farm got along really well he approved everything that they did and they were actually such good friends and he enjoyed their version so much that these guys actually played on his tribute concert and played several songs of his after he passed away for the concert. They managed to incorporate the Smooth Criminal, Billie Jean, Black or White and Thriller videos into this plus countless MJ tributes like the kid wearing the mask and the singer sitting in "The Glove" chair with the Chimpanzee.

I'm the drummer's mother and yes I am partial, but it's so evident by everyone's reaction, I ask myself , how is it possible for them to be so underrated and unnoticed for so long? These boys are musicians. their live shows are amazing, why they have a big following especially in Europe. They're so creative and talented, I promise you I don't care what genre of music or artist you listen to, whether it be Michael Jackson all the way down to Sade I promise you, there is going to be 1 or more songs you like. They are not mainstream, They're so creative and humble & the definition of perseverance especially after the bus crash in Spain. They had just played Jay Leno after 9/11 they were promoting anthology. They're all lucky to be alive. Took them many years to recover Dryden was inches from being like Christopher Reeve and in fear of never being able to sing again. With that coupled with less or no promoting & airplay you basically don't exist hence why you never heard of. There are so many talented bands that have slipped through the cracks as a result of the industry only giving airplay to the mainstream therefore deciding for us what to listen to. I don't care how bad a song is, played enough, 2 things will happen , either it's irritating or you love it & their banking on the latter. So much more, if you get a chance, pull up the video "These days" Fromthe BET Awards what's funny is my son used to play with Snoop Dogg we lived next door to one another ,their paths have yet to cross. Michael Jackson had personal approval over people who wanted to cover his music (or do parodies, like Weird Al). Alien Ant Farm went to Jackson personally to convince him to approve this cover, and according to Jackson's people, they literally played only the first three to five seconds of the song before Jackson stopped them and said, "This is going to be amazing!" And he loved the finished song.

I still remember driving down the freeway, listening to the radio (106.7 KROQ) and after the song was over, the DJ came on and announced Micheal Jackson was dead. To be honest, I hadn't heard much of his music, I wouldn't even call myself a fan. But it was like hearing that a god had died. Micheal left behind one hell of a legacy and an army of people that were inspired by him.
