I grew up listening to Skeeter. When she started her career, she was a duo with her twin sister Betty Jack with the song "I Forgot More Than You'll Ever Know". Shortly after this album came out, her twin died in a car crash. Skeeter channeled everything to go on and have a great career.

You're correct mostly, but they weren't real sisters. Skeeter was just so close to Betty/her family that she became like a sister. So much so, Betty's family took her in, and Skeeter&Betty billed themselves as sisters. This song was about the car accident, losing Betty Jack 10 years later. Skeeter was so devastated from the car accident that she never got over it, so she poured 10 years of hurt into this beautiful song. Skeeter nearly died as well in the accident, and was barely able to sing again. What a sensitive soul she was. ❤️

Can you imagine listening to this, and also Beatles, zeppelin, stones, beach boys, guess who, frankie valley, the who, zappa and hundreds of greats almost daily if you were able to listen to music in the 60's and 70's. I feel so lucky to have been born in 1956. Peace from Northern Michigan.

Hey Gary same here!! Loved that my Mom let us have the radio on every morning and as soon as we got home from school. All day long in the summer. She taught us to dance too. We were blessed to have experienced all the real talent of the 60s n 70s. To live the freedom we had. ✌️❤🎶 From Tennessee my friend

I was just thinking this the other day..damn we have been blessed with amazing music. I have been lucky to go to so many concerts and small venue shows with some of the greatest. My first concert.......The Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl with my best friend then......and still to this day. First saw Jackson Browne in 1966 with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band at a small club in Buena Park California. He attended my high school's rival high school, Sunny Hills High along with my at the time boyfriend. He took me and wow I loved it. How lucky was that and who could have imagined what he would become. My best friend and I are still rockin' it at every concert we can. They will have to pry my tickets out of my cold dead hands. Peace out.✌

I am ONE of these who has experienced this, when the love of my life left me after 24 years of marriage and 6 years before that, it's been almost 29 years now, and I still can't get over it, I was crying listening to this again, I could have written this myself. Weird thing is, I was 15 when this song came out in 1962 and I bought the single (still have it) and it made me cry THEN, and I didn't even have a boyfriend! But now, it takes on a whole new meaning. Thank you for reacting to this Shawn and Mel

I am so sorry for the loss of your husband. A break up, like my marriage of 24 years and our relationship 6 years before we married, is very very hard to get over because I LOST his LOVE and was NEVER told why. It's been almost 29 years since he left, and I still am hurting from it. I know it is also difficult when a husband dies after a long time, but at least you know he LOVED you when he died. It hurts so bad when you have LOST that love without knowing WHY, and you never saw it coming, and you still LOVE this person so much, but now they don't love you....it's just totally devastating because they are still around, but not with you. He's deceased now, he will always be the love of my life....I wish I had been his.

Yours is the only reaction I could find to this song. Great reaction to a heavy song. It hits even harder when you think, not just about someone not loving you anymore, but about giving up on life more broadly-- for other reasons. When you're in that state you think to yourself-- there is no future, nothing matters anymore, why is the sun even shining when we've come to the end? You've lost hope, which is the scariest thing to think about.

I got a new appreciation for the oldies like this thanks to Fallout 4. Some Great songs I never would have herd if not for the games radio. So many great artists I feel we Need to bring them back to the forefront. Not just making them relevant but making them what they should be, The Gold Standard Others Must live up to. So, few today would. Angelina Jordan and some others but not many. Betty Hutton's Sassy "Murder He Said", The incomparable Danny Kaye with the Lovely Andrew Sisters sinning "civilization", or the great Vera Lynn's melodic WW2 lament "We'll Meet Again" kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iptzZ9CWrNGyqZc.html . (God Help us if Angelina covers that song, everyone will cry, and we will have another great flood.) Music then was Real, Pure and you either had the gift or you did not make it and we where all better for it.
