I dont think people understand how cold these verses are. He starts off super cold blooded and and by the third verse realizes how the life he is living works. People mistakes this song for him being a gangster, but it is not that at all. He is rapping about growing up in bad surrounding and just doing what it takes to survive. He isnt and never claimed to be a gangster. He is just a simple guy trying to survive in the hood. And there is no cussing in this song ... this is simply amazing

I've loved this song since the Dangerous Minds movie came out because the music just sounds so good...I can't relate to his pain in this song. Then later on in life l found out what a white savior movie was - and that's definitely what that movie is - and I felt awful for not recognizing that. You're right - we are a product of our environment but when we know better and we can do better, then that's all we can do. Anywho, I lived in Philly for about a year or so when I was a kid! My dad was stationed there in the Navy. I went to Bregy Elementary, which I think still exists 😲

Now people should take what you said about your work environment & apply that to kids in the school setting (which is what the movie is about, I assume). Every child can't be saved but if you can find a way to reach them, some can!

4Real. I be telling them including my relatives get out of those streets wasting your time in jail, life passing y'all by. This mv scene is from the movie 'Dangerous Minds' with Michele Pfiefer. If you haven't watched it you should. It's a classic movie with a classic song base on a true story I believe. Not sure but either Coolio was nominated or he won a Grammy for this song. I know he performed it on stage at the GRAMMYS. Can you React to VANILLA ICE 'Ice Ice Baby'. You know, it's a sad tragic case with Vanilla Ice and all the scandal which surrounded him back in the early 90's. Crooked Suge Knight hung Vanilla Ice over a balcony to make him sign a contract. Vanilla Ice got caught in a lot of lies on where he came from. Come to find out he wasn't really from where he said he was from. 😁But it's all good. Live and learn. The dude can still rap though. I watched Ice do freestyle on some vid. THANKS. Great Reaction. 🤗👪✨✌️
