A remarkable filmmaker who's given us gems like Shawshank, The Green Mile, and The Walking Dead. What a fantastic extremely talented guy!

One of the best films ever

It’s actually criminal that this man doesn’t get more recognition and love. A fantastic filmmaker!

The Shawshank redemption wouldn’t have been the same if we didn’t see those to meet at the end! One of the best movie endings all time!

It's only just dawning on me that Darabont is responsible for one of humanity's greatest films. You can think it's over rated or not as substantial as other "great" films, but the fact it's reached SO many people is really something to behold. There's films that have beautifully deconstructed the human condition in so much more detail, but the sheer appreciation of this film might say so much more about us.

I was working in the cinema in 1994 when they were showing the Shawshank Redemption, and everynight it was packed and everynight everyone applauded at the end at this movie. Good days.

His Films are incredibly good abut why is he underrated. whyyyyy?! we need his Films!

I'm Irish but I'm glad he went with Morgan Freeman for the character Red. I don't think anyone could have played him as well, certainly none better. Tim Robbins was perfect in the lead. He is convincing as an unassuming and seemingly very vulnerable man who turns out to be the bravest and toughest of them all. This was also the first time since I watched Gandhi, that the audience cheered after a movie which only happened one other time that I remember and that was for Close Encounters.

This man, for his feature film debut, delivered an absolute MASTERPIECE. Shawshank Redemption is as perfect, as sad, as beautiful, as good feeling as can possibly be. It's practically flawless.

A movie that when it was over made you think “ WOW! that was amazing!”

Frank Darabont should make a new movie for us

I’d love to see Frank make more films, he’s a wonderful filmmaker.

Shawshank is one of the greatest films ever made, hands down. I stopped watching The Walking Dead mid-way through season 2 after Darabont was fired. Really want him to make another film or series but I've heard he's not easy to work with and has burned too many bridges. 😕

This man literally could've stopped after Shawshank and I would've been satisfied! My guy literally made one of the best movies of all time!

The enduring appeal of the movie is its enduring message of spiritual redemption and the hope of consciously returning to "Paradise."

I'm still annoyed that my dad didn't go over to try to be an extra. We grew up on a farm 15 minutes from Mansfield and the Reformatory, and they were asking for guys in their 30s and 40s with beards to be extras. He just gave the excuse that he was too busy to go stand around all day.

This man wrote The Blob Directed Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, The Majestic and The Mist. He is one of the greatest filmmakers of all time! Period.

I was in this movie, and had some of the most amazing times on the set. I was a corecon, and having spent so much time on set and helping with small but critical points, this man asked for me to help direct. I quote " some1 get this man a chair !", Frank said. Morgan Freeman trotted across the room, grabbed Tim Robbins chair set it beside Frank and made a hand gesture to sit. I looked at Morgan and said That's Tim's chair. He said, "the man said get you a chair..." I was like 😵 okaaay. I sat down, Mr Darbonte laid the script in my hands and said what next ? I'm liket are you kidding me !? He responds with, "look you caught several mistakes I missed, i said if I need as much help on this as possible so please work with me, not against me". And so it was, I sat behind the camera with this man for maybe 2 weeks before I finally began to lose it. That has to be one of the most mentally challenging positions to occupy. I can't say thank you enough to Frank for that once in a life time opportunity he granted me. Thank you, kind sir ! And at thr end of the shoot Frank had told me he wanted to do something special for me. So he comes in on like the last day or 2 of the shoot and brings eith him a stack of movie scripts for me to try out, a plane ticket and a set of keys to what now is a very famous beach house in Cali. The extents of my appreciation couldn't be shown. This was so mind blowing for me. Unfoortunately I had prior engagements that requires my presence as I explained to him and really did not want to say no or disrespect him and his offer. It was a bitter sweet and irreplaceable time in life. Again I can't thank Mr Darbonte enough for being such a kind man. Working with him, and that whole cast and crew in fact, was a total privilege, I am honored to have had that opportunity !

This is and will remain one of my ten favorite movies. It reminds me a lot of the Count of Monti Cristo. This movie inspired me to leave behind my life in New England which was adversely affecting my health and get up the gumption to move to Florida where my health has flourished.

As long as you are drawing breath you can overcome those problems. He just didn't make an awesome movie but even his concept of life is inspiring.

If Frank weren't fired in TWD Carl would still be alive.. :((

Each and every sentence will go in to my mind and will stay with me for days every time I watch that movie or see a particular scene. If you ask me to define the movie, I will call it the Edison of all the movies.
