Good morning Jennifer! When you told me about Shaye’s channel I subscribed. I love her style and I definitely connect with her way of just showing what she does and not giving a step by step how to. Some are happy just with showing the beauty and hoping that will inspire others to create and do. I enjoyed what she was getting at with making the daily a celebration. Fantastic interview! Thank you for sharing, both of you are beautiful women, inside and out🌹

This hit me really hard. I wore a dress 2 days this week and my kids were used to seeing me in black and they told me I was so beautiful. It broke my heart. Because 5 years of black and finally decided to cut my time back and try to be mom and it hurt my heart... thanks

Hi, Jennifer. What a lovely interview. Thank you for introducing us to Shaye. It’s fascinating what she says about essential oils, I must look into it. I was surprised that she mentioned Monty Don. I watched few of his shows on Netflix and I am currently reading his book “Down to Earth”. I believe he has replaced Allan Titchmarch on Gardener’s World now. You have to look into his work and philosophy. I know you will love it! Because although he teaches gardening, shows people how to plant a tree or take care of lavender, he is so much more. He is a great promoter of gardening as a tool for improving mental health plus he loves nature and art. I highly recommend his short series called “Monty Don’s Italian Gardens” and “Monty Don’s French Gardens”. In both series he travels through each country visiting the great historical gardens. His story telling is fantastic and there is just so much history, art and beauty to see in his programmes. I really think you could watch it with your daughters and you will all love it. It is available on Netflix and you can subscribe for a month to watch it and then cancel the subscription. Or maybe you still have that promo to watch Netflix for one month for free.

Four minutes in, I can’t help commenting my surprise that people think you both stage your homes/plates for videos! Since I’ve surrounded myself with lovely influences like you ladies for the last several years, my home life has become very similar to yours, with our family’s own unique signature, of course. The charm of your homes looks perfectly comfortable to me, rather than pretentiously false. (By the way, Jennifer, I’ve been watching Keeping Up Appearances for the second time through. 😉 I’m so glad you introduced me to that show! So funny!)

Concerning aprons. In chef instructed cooking classes I've taken, the chefs taught to cover street clothes to keep anything that our clothes may have picked up as we go about our day from falling into the food being prepped. Suggest reserving an apron for food prep and no other purpose.

Loved this interview. We raised 5 kids on a ranch and can relate to what Shaye said about "life does not revolve around you..." when it comes to taking care of livestock or hay or gardens or canning veggies, everyone has to help to make it work. And you do learn a lot by "doing" and seeing life unfold in front of you. You both made this a fun experience with lots of nuggets of wisdom intertwined. Thanks.

I am in the middle of folding, cleaning and I still have a million things to do... But, I have to put this here. Jennifer, I am extremely grateful, can't even express how much. I have been such an alien all my life due to the things I like and the way I am. You have opened a whole new World and I am not on my own anymore, not lost. I have two children, I want to raise them the right way and want to be the mother that they can be proud of and that they can find inspiring while I haven't really had that many good examples around me. I am watching (listening to) your videos one after the other while doing my chores and my mood is lifted constantly. Since I found you last week my life has been changed for the better. I have a mission, a purpose and it is becoming clearer how I can achieve the things I want to achieve. All I can say wholeheartedly is THANK YOU.

I love that you ladies are as “square” as I am at 60! If wanting a beautiful life with the best of learning, music and art, and love, peace and order in the home while excluding discord, trash culture, etc. are square, then I was born square. The friends of my youth couldn’t be bothered with college or culture, and chose the low life of unwed motherhood, drugs and crime, and now deeply regret those mistakes. We only have one life to live, make it a quality, fulfilling one.

Please, be careful with the essential oils. They can be dangerous if you are too sensitive to it.
@peachpathfinder
@peachpathfinder 5 жыл бұрын
K dJ Yes, people can develop sensitivities over time when using them topically. It’s unfortunate those pyramid companies have been irresponsible in their approach to introducing people to oils. People, “Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade” (CPTG) is a trademarked term. There is no such governing board that gives those designations. It’s all marketing. I recommend anyone who uses EOs to have the Tisserand book on essential oil safety for reference.

Loved everything about this interview! Jennifer, you have got to watch Monty Don's French Gardens on Netflix! (Or any of his shows for that matter!) Totally relate to the joy of stepping into your garden! It's my escape! I just had bloodwork to check my thyroid 2 days ago, so it was interesting to hear you speak about hormone imbalance after having babies. I totally agree with the pendulum swinging towards a more holistic approach in the medical field. I have treated a few earaches with essential oils now and have used oregano oil for various ailments. Love the tips about Frankincense. It's for more that just a diffuser or my husband's beard oil! Excited to subscribe to your guest's channel. Right up my alley! Thank you!!!

There is so much truth in this video. I have chosen to dress a certain way and I use antique china for every day dishes. I get some flack. I had a lady spin around in the store and seethe through her teeth " why are you dressed so pretentiously? Do you think you are better than me!?" Never met te woman, still dont know who she was. I thought about letting that hurt my feelings, but i chose to let it encourage me to set a higher standard for myself and my family.

I do have one stainless fork from the Goodwill for scrambling eggs; as anyone with silver knows, if you forgot to wash the egg fork immediately, you have a big polishing job ahead. I like to enjoy the nice things that I have everyday, what are we saving them for, this is our lives! Really, it’s much easier to maintain silverware if it’s just thrown in the dishwasher everyday. It hardly ever needs any polishing, usually, just the tips of the salad forks, from the acidity of the dressing. I think I’ll go back to the Goodwill and invest 25 cents in a mayonnaise spoon (made of egg yolks)!

I hate the sound of a blaring television which often becomes the background noise. My Mother would turn on soft instrumental movement every morning and that was our wake-up alarm clock. The music had no words, but it was usually light and romantic piano or strings and it was easier to get up when she would start the music every morning. She didn't have to pry us out of bed with a crowbar because the music was so inviting and we looked forward to eating breakfast with that music playing very softly in the background.

Several generations of TV sitcoms and movies made fun of the people who cling to the norms of society particularly the snobs. There has been a great focus on the value of being “real“ and unsophisticated. Being casual has been equated to not being judgmental or not feeling you are above your fellow man. I went to an awards ceremony today at a public school, and most people were basically wearing pajamas. It was appalling.

People always want the easier way out. Since the population is so relaxed in what they’re wearing it’s easy to have others blend in and think it’s okay. And companies will sell anything that will attract the teenager which will spend the parents money on anything. Then again I want to blame the parents on that but don’t get me started. When I realized I liked wearing skirts and dresses it took me a while to tell myself this is OK to look different than everyone else. But what sold me are the compliments. I walk away feeling great in my choice of clothing. Because if you look good you feel good. Not to mention I wanna look good for my husband because obviously I was giving a full effort when dating.

I’m watching your video and answering down here as I think stuff. I do have to buy your book now. Two days ago we went at a picnic of course I wore a skirt but I wanted to be relaxed without worrying about dirt showing but still looking cute and feminine. I wore a crinkled dark blue a-line skirt with a wrap top. And come to think of it I do believe I was the best dressed there. And that wasn’t even my goal. Now tell me if I am just imagining things but because I am in the minority of wearing skirts in public I feel as if I am in the spotlight with people. Like eyes are on me because I am dressed differently. How do I get used to this?

I accept that others see me as quirky at best and pretentious at worst. That’s ok- I gotta be me! My journey in this life is imperfect and stumbling, but it brings me much joy! Many blessings to you both. 🌺

As a British person I don’t know too much about the American Home Schooling system or how long it continues : I feel there must be an age when children go to a regular school . Could you tell us something about this subject ?
