Your video was very well paced and easy to follow. It was a cool idea to visualize the distances with that odd map :D I have a small correction an a question for you. As far as I know assassins never run - not even on agressive stance. My question is about the A.I.: Do you know what stances they use? It would be cool if you could play tricks like luring guards away from their post.

Assassins definitely run to rally point, and most units run when triggered by their unit stance, I'm pretty sure assassins are included there, but don't have time right now to double check. The ai generally don't need to follow unit stances as they constantly order troops to do things. However you can see when engaging their moving archers that they behave as if they are using attack move with a stance (explained in the movement types video) as only some archers stop to fight. On the other hand melee units don't seem to break off their movement to engage, so they either are not using attack move or are set to stand ground.

So there I was, wondering what about those three simple stances would take almost 15 minutes to explain... and then you pulled Q, W, E shortcuts out of your sleeves that I wasn't aware of, and followed that up with some pulling and kiting moves to sneak past with weaker units unnoticed in a way that reminded me of some nice TheSettlers4 thieves micro but isn't often seen on Crusader... time spent watching this video is time well spent I'd say!

Thanks, I'm glad you found it interesting. I'm learning plenty myself. I'm fairly certain the next video will contain a few surprise that very few are aware of.

I played this game for so many years with "experts" on gameranger, it's very cool to find out that not everyone has forgotten about this game :D Keep it up, your videos are informative for new players out there and cool :D Have you tried the "expert" gameplay though? Just wondering because many people straightforward think it's not fun and not real stronghold crusader

Yes I have tried it. It is definately not like offline play. To me it feels like Peace Time is "who can follow the setup script best?", then after Peace Time, its massive end-game armies "Who can recruit faster, and micro better?" Dont get me wrong, this takes alot of skill, however it simply does not hold my interest, I see very little strategy in it. Bootstrap mode, which i play instead, has a tonne of decisions to make, some pay off some dont. One player might build more eco and play the long game, while the other builds more early army. Neither is wrong, but each might win or lose the game. To me, this is much more interesting and entertaining to watch and to play. Power to those who like "expert" mode, I wish them all the luck. Its just not for me.

@@GRhin Never said it is for everyone, just asking if you tried, wanted to know what you think. If you enjoy the bootstrap mode, of course you should play it, I did the same thing for the first 3 years of this game. The strategy part is definitely present in whatever way you choose to play shc, this I can assure you, but unfortunately, in expert gameplay a lot of what you said is correct, mainly there is too much clicking and speed matters too much, so usually after most strategies become known and exploited, it is the sheer speed (how fast you can recruit etc) that decides the winner. This part is boring to me as well, which is why I stopped playing it after a few years and I support you for what you do, but I just have to disagree that there is very little strategy in it, because there is, it is just very hard to see it when most of what is happening is repetitive clicking that makes everything look like it's scripted and robots are playing. Either way keep it up, as I said, loving your videos! :D

I know there is strategy, but as you say, once strategies are known there is a known response, and 90% of games end up following an identical formula, I personally do not see this as strategy. For the remaining 10% of games most of them is the result of a rookie mistake being punished rather than a brilliant strategic move by the player. I know I am generalizing a complex situation, and maybe iv only played/watched the exceptions, but its just my personal opinion. Once again, I support those who enjoy it. Crusader is a great game, and I'm not going to tell people how they should enjoy it, as long as they are enjoying it.

That defensive stance trigger seems a little too low for my tastes actually. I thought it was at least 10 tiles....
@GRhin3 жыл бұрын
I agree its too low, I asked on the Unofficial Crusader Patch to see if they could increase it.10 sounds like a much better number.
